Melton, Lee and Huller missing were expected as theyre not big names and the only thing keeping Melton alive is word of mouth and the fact that his costars are big name actresses and even Michelle Williams missed last year and she's a previous nominee from a Spielberg movie.
Here are my initial thoughts on the nominations. Charles Melton missing in Best Supporting Actor was not a surprise to me because I had feeling that it was a good chance of that happening. Sterling K Brown being in the Best Supporting Actor category at SAG was a delightful surprise. As far as Leo not being nominated for Best Actor, I have mixed feelings about this. The reason why I had mixed feelings about this was due to the fact that I did not rule out the possibility of them deciding to go with either Colman Domingo or Barry Keoghan over Leo. Was it a bad call, yes. Was I surprised about this decision, not really. The biggest shocker besides Sterling K Brown getting in for Best Supporting Actor was Poor Things not being nominated for SAG Ensemble. I wasn’t too shocked to see Holdovers to miss SAG Ensemble
Nyad was a super basic film with great performances, but I think there are just better options than Annette Bening and Jodie Foster. Bening was great, but Sandra Huller, Greta Lee, Teyana Taylor, Cailee Spaeny, Margaret Qualley in Sanctuary, and Fantasia Barino were all superior performances in my opinion. Jodie Foster was a bit better than Annette Bening, but RACHEL MCADAMS should have at least something for Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. I also would've loved to see Viola Davis get nominated for Air. I thought the Poor Things supporting actor duo was phenomenal, but, they would be my personal 6 and 7 picks. I would keep the "RRR" and have Glenn Howerton in BlackBerry and Charles Melton in May December. I honestly want Zac Efron to get nominated for The Iron Claw, but i doubt that'll happen.
These SAG nominations just cemented, to me, the Critics' Choice Awards as one of the most expected award shows to watch. Sometimes, even more than the Oscars.
I really think best cast ensemble could be for either Barbie or Oppenheimer in my choice. I hope you continue to feel better and congrats on the subscriber milestone 👍
NYAD is a 2023 American sports drama film about swimmer Diana Nyad's 2013 attempt to swim the Straights of Florida. It is directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarheylii an Jimmy Chin (in their feature film directorial debut) and written by Julia Cox, based on Nyad's autobiography Find a Way. It stars Annette Bening as Nyad, with Jodie Foster and Rhys Ifans in supporting roles.
They nominate friends, instead of the best performances. It seems like they don't even bother to watch the movies, Anette but not Greta or Sandra??? WHERE ARE U Charles Melton/ Dominic Sessa/Mark Ruffalo???
I can’t be the only one who thought Charles Melton was just…ok I’d rather vote for someone with limited screen time but a large impact like Archie Madekwe in Saltburn or maybe Tom Conti as Einstein.
@@marleyvillasenor4732 it’s 100% the Native thing. She’s talented but her best performance is ahead of her. This was fine, but she wasn’t given a lot to do outside of laying in a bed.

For me May December was so-so. Really liked Melton's nuanced performance, but both female roles are so distasteful it's hard to appreciate the acting chops. Also it is NOT a comedy, never chuckled even once, so ads pitching it that way is a mistake. Overall it felt like a made for TV movie.
May December is a movie depicting a fictionalized of a dead rapist and her underage rape victim. Rape should never have been romanticized, let alone be recognized by some award.
In the words of my good friend Tatianna: "Choices."
I love how you called the Supporting Actor trio "RRR"!
They just hate international films.

Well Danielle Deadwyler and Ana De Armand wasn’t big names and they got in at SAG last year, over veterans like Michelle Williams🤷🏽♂️
DiCaprio is probably the biggest name in his category and he missed.
Hüller not a big name? Maybe in the USA but she’s a household name in Europe

Your Benning reaction was perfect 😂

🤔
I'm most upset for Sandra Huller, Greta Lee, Rachel McAdams, Cailee Spaeny, Rosamund Pike, Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, & Charles Melton missing.
What’s the beef with Nyad??? Great movie
Yeah melton was my choice and I pray he still gets an oscar nom, but with him out I'm all in for gosling.
How is Margot Robbie got nominated over Cailee Spaeny, Sandra Huller or Greta Lee ??!
I really think best cast ensemble could be for either Barbie or Oppenheimer in my choice. I hope you continue to feel better and congrats on the subscriber milestone 👍

🙃
Thank you. This is truly eye-opening for many of us.
What did Annette Bening do to hurt you?
Go off king. Glad you're feeling better
The Golden Globes nominations were just way better than both the Critics Choice and especially SAG this year

I’m fine with leaving Dominic Sessa out of Best Supporting Actor since #FuckCategoryFraud.
I came to the comments section to see all the Nyad defenders and boy I was not disappointed 😀
Well now I feel like I gotta go watch That Fuckin' Nyad
I gotta watch Nyad & Rustin unfortunately
@@BrentFanan Streaming hesitation should be considered human nature at this point. 😅
@@BrentFananRustin was pretty good, yet to watch Nyad tho
Wait until the Oscar nominations 🤭
Im with you...i need Gosling to win for the most memorable performance of the last 5 years...i dont get the rdj train.
Nah, overrated and RDJ gave a searing performance that deserves honoring on top of his decade dominating pop culture as “Tony Stark/Iron Man”.
They left out Past lives, may/december and the holdovers
So sad for fantasia. Heartbreaking performance.
Rrryaaan! RG for the win!
Are you going to update your 2023 list on letterboxd?
past lives is dead
I do not get the NYAD hate. They both deserve a nomination. That movie was better than many of the best picture candidates in my opinion.
look, I hate May December but Charles Melton does still deserve the nom
team gosling all the way. thanks for standing up for whats right.

Did not see that one-liner coming.

Yeah NGL, I wonder if people are reading more into Melton’s role than the performance he gave by itself.
HE IS THE HEART OF MAY DECEMBER.. What's wrong with you? 👽 What else u want from that role? Body language, subtle acting..
Barbie better get cast ensemble so no America Ferrera for supporting actress Charles Kelton for supporting actor and Greta Lee for best actress
Melton was robbed!
I’m sorry I just don’t get the Gladstone hype at ALL. But it seems like everyone has just rolled over & accepted the narrative. Sigh
It’s the Native American narrative combined with the narrative that Emma Stone already has an Oscar. Just being honest here

Shut up with ur nonsense. Romanticised WHERE?
Charles Melton and Lily Gladstone were always super overrated and undeserving. Bring on the Oppenheimer domination!!!
Lol wut
Yayyyy

Gladstone yes, melton NO.
Gladstone is winning cause they want a native american woman to win for diversity
I agree on both counts. Do not get the hype for either.
Super pumped for Nyad! Annette Benning > Greta Lee
Stop.
