Man you make snow removal look fun, I always look miserable, maybe its because your snow melts daily and ours just hangs around and accumulates for months and months. Really great video as always, have a great weekend Hans.
I really think you need to get a rubber cutting edge for your plow. It causes less damage to the black top or cement driveways or sidewalks and cleans the snow just as good. They are also a lot quieter than the metal cutting edge. I have a 1" X 6" rubber cutting edge on the 54" plow that I use with my JD X595. It's also acts like a squeegee when the snows starts to melt towards spring. After watching some of your video's, I think you would be very happy with one. Curt.
Hi Curt, I have tried all options as for the amount of snow I plow, I go through 2-3 cutting edges per year. I have found the rubber edges only last me about 3 storms before being completely worn and gone. I plow a lot more than what’s shown in my videos. So unfortunately rubber doesn’t work for me. In this video, I had a UHMW edge, but AR400 steel is my favorite, as it will also scrape off ice.
Brother...the neighborhood is definitely going to miss YOU whenever you decide to move! Your description of Colorado sounds similar to central NC, ( i.e. suns out, and the snow usually melts in a day or so). Heck Hans....I didn't own a "snow"- shovel 'till I married a yankee!😁

I see the front end of your 1025r getting pushed around a bit in the deep stuff when the blade is in float . I have a 2025r with a boom mounted front blade that does the same thing . I do wish Deere had accounted for this by making it easier to mount suitcase weights while using a front blade . I did mount a front weight bracket but the weights barely clear the loader boom - gotta grind about 1/2 inch from the bottom corners of the weights so they'll clear . It helps a lot . Your front blade has no provision for mounting weights that I know of . Nice setup though - I almost went with a 1025r but figured I'd need more ground clearance for my situation .
Thanks Bryan! Yes, the front end definitely does get pushed around in certain conditions. I've found that it's usually not too big of a deal for me. I agree with you on wishing that Deere made it easier to mount suitcase weights with the front attachments.
Tim from Canada to comment on your sidewalk blade snow shovel.. by law.. all sidewalks.( 6”0 FEET So if you were going to get a plough for any tractor.. it should be under 6 feet… if you are over then you know you were ripping up lawns..
Great video again. Tractor works great. I’d have a lot of fun there with my MF 14 with snow Plow. Would a foot throttle along with the regular throttle be any benefit to you.
Bring it out! Let's plow! lol. You know, I'm OK with the hand throttle. Between the forward, reverse, and diff lock pedals, I've got enough going on down there. They do make an Auto Throttle that can be installed on the 1025R. I find it interesting, but not sure if it'd really be worth it or not.
im curious to how many snowfalls before you need to fuel up again. I do about 8 neighbors each time it snows, no charge, all are 1 acre lots with long driveways far back from the street, i have a JD 790 - 30 hP 3 cylinder yanmar with gears and it sips fuel unless i am using the bush hog because my RPMs are up the whole time with the bush hog running. i can plow 4 to 5 times before i fuel up and then it still only take 3-4 gallons to fill. I think using the geared style tractor i am always letting off on the gas pedal so it idles down all the time and uses less fuel. Disadvantage is i have to push in the clutch and rev my gas pedal when going into the pile to speed up my hydraulics to dump the bucket, dont have plow. but it definately uses less fuel i would think than running full throttle with a hydrostatic drive machine. let me know what you think and nice video.
Sorry for my delay. I haven’t been getting all of my comment notifications for some reason. If I’m using the blade, I don’t use that much fuel and maybe fill up every other storm. If I’m using my blower, I definitely need to fill up with every storm. I have never operated a 790, but always wanted to try that series. They seem very well built. Also, very nice of you to keep your neighbors taken care of. I’m sure they appreciate you!
I use float and down pressure depending on what I’m plowing. Most float though. The regular JD cutting edge is a mild steel that doesn’t last long. I’ve tried many and my favorite is the AR400 steel cutting edge from HeavyHitch.
@@TractorHoarders are used to push snow at a hospital. I use a John Deere x748 I believe. It was a four-wheel-drive with a plow. I do agree that metal blades did not last long from deere so I went to my local metal shop and have them cut me some real thick metal. Lasted lot longer.
It really depends on the snow depth and how many people request my help with driveways. Most of the time, it takes me a few hours, but during larger storms, I may be on this tractor slightly over 12 hours in a day.... as much as I enjoy it, after that long, I'm ready to be done! haha

Hans, thanks for all the info! Do you run the blade in the float mode or are you setting it just off the pavement? And do you try to NOT run the angle full left or right? I think I get premature wear on both ends of the poly edge due to full left/right and the nature of the QH geometry.
Hey Jim! I'm mostly in float mode, and occasionally use down pressure when trying to scrape up ice or hard packed snow. I agree that the edges wear quicker, so I also try to minimize where I use full angle on the blade.
