    Tim you ARE " the man"! Great video and I can't believe you made a F22 that lands like a helicopter!!(lol) I have an EDF jet and I have to land that suckered at half throttle, which is fast, or it will fall out out the sky like a rock. Great job on yours, may have to attempt this one.

    Love your vids. I been trying to teach myself to fly RC since covid started. I made an crashed over a dozen DIY foam planes including your square flyer which was probably my best flight until I tried to turn back lol. I’m hoping one day I’ll run into someone with experience that can show me how to properly trim the remote because I’m defiantly doing something wrong

    Thank you! Nice video. How did you manage to cut the foam board? By hand or a laser cutting machine? Is that propeller facing in the right direction?

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  2 роки тому

      Carlos: Glad you liked the F-22 video! The foam board is just 3/16" thick. Super easy to cut with a #11 X-acto knife blade. The prop is on correctly. As the motor is facing backwards, and take a normal prop and mount it "backwards" on the motor such the prop is rotating in the normal direction, but simply on the back side of the motor. Tim

    I've built a bunch of foam aircraft like that a long time ago, I miss it. Just an observation.....your plane looked to be alittle tail heavy by the way it porpoised a bit, I've been there.

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  2 роки тому

      Wayne: The F-22 could be a tad tail heavy. The CG was not very well marked on the plans, I had to do a bit of research. But what I will say is that the pusher motor, just inches behind the CG and Center of Lift, seems to make the nose want to "hunt" a bit during flight. Plus, the elevons and right behind the prop blast, thus very effective. Would be interesting to see how it handles with a tractor prop set up. Tim

    • @wayneg3127
      @wayneg3127 2 роки тому

      @@TimMcKay56 I remember them being fairly sensitive to wash. The planes I made were not from plans, just similar. Maybe I mounted the motors a bit more to the center of the craft but I allways had to add nose weight to get stable flight unless I used a big ass battery. I did enjoy your video, it reminded me of all the trial and error involved with making a (dollar tree foam) plane that would do what I told it to do. Who knows, I may get back into it some day. Good day.

    How many grams of thrust does that motor give and what's the total weight of the plane

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  2 роки тому

      Karthik: Per the Description, F-22 weights 15 ounces with a three cell lipo. The foam board helps a lot with keeping the weight down. Not sure of the grams of thrust. Use a three cell lipo for sure, and put in a larger engine. You'll need all the thrust you can get for the initial climb out, then you can throttle back. Tim
