Thank you 🙏 so much, Bob. You are absolutely right. That has often driven me up the wall. Connecting the terminal of that open fork of the ground wire to a phono amp. I just purchased the WiiM ultra and it works great except for the phono input which is quite noisy. I am using the same connections as my DJpreII and the WiiM has quite a bit of noise on the output. Fortunately, it works fine if I connect my turntable to the DJpreII preamp and then connect that to the WiiM audio input (not the phono input).
Other manufacturers should adopt that feature. However, as mentioned, anyone serious about Vinyl playback won't be using the WiiM's phono stage, so the WiiM's ease of connecting phono ground is moot.
That is not the amazing feature. The amazing feature is it has a sub out with bass management. now you can use it as a pre amp and use bass management on any 2 channel amp of your choosing which nearly all of them do not have this capability. only a handful do and those that do only have a single or several cross over points where as the WIIM has like any cross over point from 30-150hz.

Seriously, before you make a video, ask yourself: what value do I add to what's already out there? Don't just make videos to draw clicks.
To me, these products (that include power amps at least) are counterintuitive to what market they belong to. We have seen a heap of these sub 100wrms (into 8 Ohms) amps paired up with mostly small, low efficiency speakers. May be fine for lifestyle product market and those used to Bluetooth speakers and mini desktop systems, but certainly not for the audiophile faction. I'd prefer some budget name brand AVR hooked up to a mini pc/PC/cell phone, even if just using 2 channels of it. More power, sub outs, bass management etc. Once we get over the idea that all of these products need to fit on a desktop, better options become available. Otherwise, this is just a bunch of software in a box. I tried the Wiim Pro and was relatively underwhelmed compared to my desktop PC based system with AVR that I can hook up just about any speaker to, with loads of headroom on tap. Windows PC/Equalizer APO > USB DAC > 120WPC Denon AVR > 12" speakers and a pair of 12" Dayton HiFi subwoofers. It also drives any of the low sensitivity bookshelf speakers with ease. This all fitting around a small desktop that takes up around 4' x 6' of space, all in. Nothing worse for an audiophile than living with a system that 'almost' has enough power with little to no headroom. All of these small amps end up at their limits, hanging by a thread. Not buying into any more 'cute' systems.

Well done sir even if someone mentioned it they did not explain how to hook it up they glossed over it cheers
@@789ghost342ghost I just dig deeper!!!
Once I moved to iTunes and bluetooth it to my Yamaha WXC-50, I stopped looking at audio equipment. Done.
“Do not recommend this channel”…. Cya
@@cadiehl1 Good to know. I'll notify the media. Thanks!
The reason why it's not been done before is it's a ground ! The .more mechanical connections the higher likelihood of increased resistance.
Yeah, another viewer was concerned with oxidation of the connections! Still think it practical, if not exactly mechanically sound! Maybe they have it figured out. Thanks!
Nice job Bob!!!

Did it get Apple AirPlay yet?
No. They announced that it wouldn't shortly before launch.
@@stephenc6648 thank you
If this ground thing is the greatest feature of this unit, I feel sory for those who bought it 😂
Why... they have the coolest component ever!
Everyone knows this. Worthless and pretty annoying clickbate!
Even me...
No Apple Air Play 2 so…..
Hdmi. Ha Ha Ha. Not supported dts, not supported dolby. Only downgrade sound to pcm in tv! Why?))
😂😂😂 I expected to get a secret feature like a remote desktop from the little-screen-ui for my also-old-eyes shown on my imac 27“. Cheers from another oldeyed blind man..😂..great review! Helped me to not-buy this Ultra and stay oldschool.😊
Wait, so one cannot usb connect pc/laptop to the Ultra? I assumed it could but i read the usb is for attaching storage. Kind of missing a big feature. It really could have been a can-do-it-all a.k.a ULTRA device.
Thank you for your time and efforts to share these perspectives with us all. Always appreciated. Take care.
Waste of 10 minutes.
Sorry to disappoint.
@@UnitedStatesofAnalog No problem. Just a clickbait title, and the big reveal was a......(drum roll please!)..... phono ground. You are not entertaining enough NOT to put up legit content. I would advise: less what you think is funny or entertaining and more substance. But that's just my opinion. We live in a country where 45%+ citizens support Trump, so what do I know? Seriously, before you make a video, ask yourself: what value do I add to what's already out there? Don't just make videos to draw clicks.
Does that 'wasted time' include your comment?
When it's that time of the month...
@@34332 Oh, did you get your feelings hurt by my Trump comment? Bottom line: this was a clickbait video with zero added value.

Can't see any sane reason to involve Trump in a WiiM topic, lol. Not entertained, who cares? Bugger off.

It has no amp...it's a streamer/DAC.....🙄 Try again....
Get to the point.
