    It's amazing how when you let the natural momentum of the club swing for you all the other "problems" go away. Thank you for explaining it so well.

    After watching a lot of your videos on "auto play" I'm starting to think I'm Unlearning more than I'm learning the golf swing LOL. Because we already know how to throw a ball, swing a bat or hit something with a stick, we already have what it takes to do well at this game. Your instruction makes this possible. Love your work Sir.

    Great stuff as always Mike.. since I found you on You Tube a few months back, there is nobody I watch any longer accept You!!Whenever you mention " A lot of guys like to do this" that is usually me. You have helped me so much, now I need to put it all in action on the course once the weather breaks. Thank You keep them coming.. God Bless

    Brilliant description that I can understand. At last I can hit the golf ball further without swinging out of my socks. There is an expression in management KISS keep it simple stupid. I love Mikes videos and the way he makes the swing so easy. I used to use a lot of wrist action but this method is easier for me to do now as I am 75 years old.

    The easier you make it the better I like it. This one I love... I have watched so many of your free vlogs and after discussing with friends have got I think a better understanding of the golf swing. The only problem being THE BALL!

    Yeah your spot on with this Mike I think the biggest problem in golf is getting the club started in the takeaway to swing how it feels when you swing back and through back and through

    Thanks for your videos, Mike. When I can't feel the club head, I call that 'club head blackout' (clumsy phrase, but apt) and my swing goes to hell immediately! Now I'm trying to feel the loading of the shaft like when you are casting a fishing lure. I don't think I swing slowly enough for that yet, or I need whippier shafts!

    Jack Nicklaus told his friends to twirl the club in front of them to feel the weight of the club head and see how our opposing hands works in a golf swing. Try the twirl waggle and Mike’s concept will becomes easy to understand and do.

    Many thanks for this video tuition Malaska, I was a 8 handicap player now playing off 13 and getting worse! Gave the game up as I was getting that bad in wondering where the club head was on the back swing and then on the follow through, you video speaks volume to me, so I will try this out on the range tomorrow and hopefully I can get back onto the golf course?

    A little off-topic for this video but I finally figured out the “tipping of the club”. I struggled with this for about 2 years while watching Mikes video. For me, if I “down turn the handle” at the top of the backswing it automatically tips the club head. And that move did it for me.

    • @glennwiebe5128
      @glennwiebe5128 5 років тому +1

      I was having trouble with the whole tipping thing. Being from Canada and having played a lot of hockey, as soon as he used the split grip on the club, it made sense. I quickly got a club out and went to the living room to swing it as he did. I found that I have been doing the same thing as a result of my old slap shot. Now my challenge is pushing away with my right hip to gain speed. Great comment!

    • @djp3525
      @djp3525 5 років тому +3

      Glenn Wiebe in my opinion, you gain much more speed by pushing away with your left side on the down swing.

      4 years later......can you explain in more detail what "down turn the handle" means and feels like for you? I'm still not getting "tipping of the club" via steering wheel or tennis racket demos!

    Hands, wrists and feet. Get those right and you're 90% there. You know, it's amazing to me that more instructors don't talk about the relationships between the club momentum, wrists and hands. This morning I got into Seymour Dunn, Percy Boomer, Bobby Jones and Ernest Jones to get anything of substance on this topic. Even TGM had a blurb. To me it's the key to the swing.

    I watch both you and Shawn Clement as you are very close in your thinking (give your brain a task, not a set of positions). The main difference between you and Shawn is he would say to release the clubhead toward your target whereas you tell us to throw it at the ball. Do you have any thoughts about releasing to target?
    Thanks :)

    Hi Mike, thanks, for your videos. I am finally retired and trying hard to be a better golfer. This question may not make sense to you, but I am going to ask it anyhow. Why does not one teacher ever teach us where the wrists unhinge and how to get there? The whole swing is less than good if you don't know where that point is and how to get there. Hope you will maybe consider answering this. Thxs.

    I’ve been chasing a consistent swing for a long time . I get close every now and then which always lead’s to new swing thought. One that I have read about or viewed on UA-cam which in the end puts me back to level one or two again. Pretty frustrating to say the least, but since I now live on a golf course I will continue the journey for a more consistent golf swing that will produce accurate golf shots. After its all said and done I keep coming back to your channel, but honestly, I find the tipping the golf club method difficult to produce without having verbal swing thoughts. Could you please elaborate a little more on the tipping club swing subject, so this Golf Duffer can learn how to perform it as a natural motion?
    Does producing a proper golf swing in the end, just come's down to loose flexible wrist and arms after getting into a proper setup posture?
    Thank You very much, Duffer Dave

    I hear a lot of contradiction about grip strength. I like to have a very loose grip because it gives the best 'feeling' for control. But it also allow the grip to rotate in the downswing. If I use a stronger grip then that automatically puts more tension in my arms and shoulders, which I don't want. So, I don''t know.

    About this easy-efficient swing and clubhead speed. I've been trying everything, but using this type of "club momentum with a smooth swing", I'm lucky to get a 7-iron swinging faster than 60-65mph. If I use a huge swing and really force it, maybe I can get 80, but I know that's "wrong."
    How do you get a decent club speed while using these easy swings?
    As an FYI, I've videoed, taken lessons etc. and I'm not casting or wasting speed early, so I'm really confused.

    • @joshlynch5676
      @joshlynch5676 5 років тому

      Maybe you don't move as efficiently as you think.
      If you've gotten lessons and not improved your club head speed, given that is your objective, I'd suggest a different teacher.

      @@joshlynch5676 I'm sure there's something bio-mechanical going on that's holding me back but nobody has been able to tell me what. Maybe I'm just weaker than a skinny girl who can pound it 250 yards, LOL!

      Same. The “harder” I swung the slower I got. I’ve found that narrowing my stance a fair bit adds a different level of fluidity to my swing. Several mph faster, with seemingly less effort.

    • @gregboggs4721

      Don’t swing harder, swing faster! Let the club do the work, it’s all about momentum, tension causes you to slow down.

    It's a great lesson but unfortunately modern swing methods are so distance-obsessed that the backswing has become a strenuous windup and the through-swing has become a strenuous levering action. The 'swinginess" of the swing, i.e., motion guided by gathering momentum, is still there to some extent but it's overwhelmed by other mechanics.

    Sinker pitches are hard to time just like golf ball . Speed it up backswing step drills work ? Your slow feel also works, none produce consistency . To many things have to go well and a horizontal swing relative to one's surroundings is nothing close close to golf, relative to one's surroundings . Sixth sense stuff , not natural no strait lines to be felt but it's what you're doing, so they say ?
