- Even if we work in the studio in logic or cubase or reaper or any other DAW we like, a lot still play with ableton live due to its amazing warping capabilities and intuitive controls.
Warping however is bugged in ableton. i cant believe they havent sorted it out yet.
In this video you will learn:
How to warp your music for Zero artifacts and phasing.
Warping like a pro on Ableton is easy.
Only one warp marker is the best solution.

Thank's for providing simple info that doesn't come up in a damn google search
It really should be there on a Google search. XD
Amazing! The BEST tutorial out there on warping full tracks in Ableton to prepare a DJ set.
This just helped me fix something I’ve been struggling with for years 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Finally an approach that worked for me so far in Ableton 11. Thx!
U are very welcome!
+1sub.. i was looking for this for about 10 years........!!!! THANKS!!!!
This one is complety sick man! I've always struggled warping precisely with no loss ! Thaaaanks!!!
Thank u!
Does this still happen with Live 11?
Gods work man, been struggling with this
Very late to the party, but this was very helpful . Niceone dude!
Aweeh
amazing! this will save me a lot of time. Just a small detail, after playing hours of loops and songs I realized ableton loses the grid of clips without the warp marker. Just to be safe I would add warp markers in the end of songs too, not to stretch anything just as a "guide" so that ableton won't fuck up in a long set.
Well done drives me absolutely nuts this I thought it was because of the audio quality itself
Sweet!! Never imagined it could be this simple..
The force is strong with you 🤟👽
Hehehe welcome to the dark Side 😄
Very helpful to someone just getting started!
holy crap dude... cant thank you enough... this is a lifesaver trick...
I'm happy to help!! 🙏
Thank you!!!! I've been trying to figure out how to fix this but couldn't. Now my mixes sound great!!!
the best one ever, i was always wrong! this is a bug they should fix
Excellent video! More producers need to see this.
Thanks!!! And yes it's so simple this way!
Thank you so much! Awesome tutorial, very informative.
Thanks to u for the comment & feedback
In your examples, I noticed that you are using Re-Pitch as the warp type. Can you do this with other warp modes? Or do you find that this is the best period? I'm curious because you do not mention this in the video.
Hey man I should've added that you are right. I set repitch as default because for DJing tracks its the least destructive imo. Altho it changes the pitch it doesn't slice it like beats etc...
@@patriciotron1392 Thank you for clarifying! I used your method and got some great results!
Dude you are a legend !
So helpful
Woow thank you verrryyy much. New to Abelton and this is one more reason to use it more.
Super easy to warp like this
Very neat!! 🤗
A fantastic cure!! Man, I wish I'd known about this.
thank you so much bro. subbed
Boom
This is amazing!!! Thank you so much!
This is the video I've been looking for, thank you so much!
Thank you for this informative video, i am trying this to warp my live acoustic drum tracks. They were all syncd with the project tempo then I removed their warp and turn the warp back again and use the technique you have mentioned. The initial few bars are in tempo but they keep misaligning as they progress.
Thank you so much! But still dont understand why we have to type in the wrong bpm before the correct bpm. Is it a glitch?
So ive done this but thought it was too good to be true in the past.
Why ? Because I assumed (and it still appears to be the case) the warp would now happen twice.
Without verification, I completely omitted this method of 'double' warping in fear that I might have introduced double the artifacts.
Thanks for sharing either way ! Subscribed!!
🙏Thank u
Wow, such a time saver. Thank you
U R welcome 😊🙏
Thanks for the tips
Great Video.
Absolutely spot on!!!
Hero!
Excellent video, thank you
So let me confirm again what I learnt,
Step 1 - Find the first Kick
Step 2 - Change any number of the BPM on the bottom BPM there.
Step 3 - Change to the actual BPM on the bottom BPM there.
Am I correct? Please correct me if I am wrong, Thank You. :)
Yes it is that simple but make sure you delete the original warp point so there is just the first kick warp point when you ^warp from here straight (between step 1 and 2)
Remember to type the bpm not change with the buttons up and down.. Type it with the numbers on the keyboard
Nice video and killer track!!!
Hehehe Tron vs Mirok 🎶🎶🎶
That's just great - thanks man!
🙏
Great, thank you so much man!
Can this technique work on a vocal track (i'll try this out :) ) I'm wondering if you have an easy way to warp a vocal track. Again, thank you so much!
Just be sure to get the right warping point to sync and know the real bpm of the vocal track .. and yes you can totally use this technique
Brilliant, thank you so much! Subscribed 🎧
🙏
time saver, thanks!
Tnx for explanation. Nice, simple and good way for electronic made music. Do you see a way like this for 80's songs? The bpm is all over the place in this songs, song I use multiple points. However artefacts do come along and we don't want those. Love to hear your input or see your video about this. Tnx anyway.
I asked the same, with tracks that drift and are played 'live'. Did you come up with a good workaround, to warp 70's 80's tracks without a steady BPM, easily in Live? :)
@@paulchambers3 I'm not sure if it's a GOOD workaround because it's hard to run this automaticaly. I do this by hand and therefore not for a long time. It's ideal, but a lot of work. More and more I make sure that the DJ software grid is steady at point I want to mix in or out.
For warping older tracks with slight tempo changes this video shows you the best to do it..unfortunately there is no one click fix.

Epic. Thank you!
What is the fastest way to warp when the track your working on has a diff BPM than your sample say track is 150 BPM but the sample you wan to try and use is say 128 BPM
Same way! Just make sure the warping point is set in the right position
thanks for this but i figured that only works with tracks thats have the same bpm of the project , if i try to use a 150 bpm track on a 152 bpm project the track still goes out of the grid
No, it really syncs if the bpm throughout the track is consistent. I got 155bpm sync with 140bpm tracks
I'm confused how do you auto detect the bpm on a midi drum?
Just had the time to watch this! Thank you so much! This is really really useful...
I have a question if I may. What if you’re playing tracks at different BPM? You apply the same technic but typing instead the BPM you want the track to be at? (Like your set is at 145 and the next track is at 143) idk if I made my self clear...
Yaman on the track details on the left you type the tracks bpm. Don't mind ableton project tempo!
And thanks for your feedback 😊🙏 happy to help!
Thank you so much for taking the time! I’ll try this out 👍🏻 hugs!
Tron Maestro, I had a doubt, to export this song warped wich ones is the best quality, it will be in the same as the original track unwraped? I ask that `cause this is very usefull for DJS avoid troubles mixing some times. Make things easier a lot!
Generally this is only for playing out the clips , to record it say on a set or in any case for this kind of material like full tracks i would use repitch, and the only problem is it is going to warp the pitch of the track a bit for every bpm
like 1/6th or something like this depending on your base bpm.
I would not process the tracks and bounce before a set because the warping will inherently do some modulation to the wave and a mastered track might need an extra limiter because of the artifacts. I would play the mastered tracks as they are and tempo sync with the cdj`s to avoid the extra artifacts from the warped bounce. ( or on the fly as we seen here with ableton also sounds pretty good!)
I hope that was clear!
Excellent 👍🏻
fucking hell Patricio !! exactly what i needed !!
Booom!! 🎶
can you make more warp vid with acapella
Wow thank you
Booom! U are welcome carnalito
omgggggggggg ur awesomeeeeee
Great video. Cubase = master race :) Just kidding, Ableton has some neat possibilities :)
They both are great tools 🛠️
Time saver thx
thank you so much man!
My pleasure!!!
thx alot do i have to warp acapella too if making remix. How it goes? Can you please tell me.
can anyone say if this has been fixed since this video was posted 3 years ago.. thanks!
afaik its still happening. but u try to warp a few tracks and check out yourself! :)
thank you
Cheers!
Amazing! Dude, where can I send you money to buy you a six pack, lol!
i have a struggle with tracks that have tempo automation , after the section with the automation the grid is totally out of tempo , any solutions?
Yeah that is tricky as... Need to make another couple of warp markers to square the final section again and one for the last beat before the tempo automation so you can get all on grid
Does this also apply when we import samples in the mix? Sometimes, the drum loop samples might be in a different BPM than the mix. Will this technique help in that case as well? Cheers!
Definitely works for samples like drum loops etc
gracias
De nada! Gracias a ti por el comment
My Ableton doesn't show the Seg. BPM. Is this not an option in Ableton 11?
Maybe u didnt select the warp marker!
All in red....😂🙌
Redline to headline
cool technique but doesn't address warping old records (i know that wasn't purpose of video)
If its electronic music cool easy but I would love for you to show how to warp recordings of old vinyl
Yes definitely. This is for modern daw music with precise bpm in place. Also not changing bpm in the middle.
I hardly ever warp old vinyl tracks but this is a great point u making thanks a lot for your comment
WOW!
🙏😁
Brilliant Video! Can I ask, how you'd do this, with older 'live' unquantized real drummer tracks, from 60's 70's that wobble and drift?
Can the same be done? or would there be a slightly different process? 🙂
Check this one out for sorting older tracks

Great
tu eh foda irmao!!!

Hello, and thanks for all this info. . . I wonder if you can tell me why Ableton keeps warping my tracks? I have turned off warp in the preferences, and in the individual track configuration; but each time I record a new track (I'm just recording with a mic and a guitar through a Focusrite USB interface), the "warp" button is lit up yellow, and my tracks are out of sync.
I can't get help from the forums because my license type (I'm using Ableton First and trying to learn the basics), doesn't allow access. I could really use a hand.
Thanks in advance!
Let me look into this I'll get back to u
I must say.. If warp is set to repitch and no bpm changes the difference in sound is negligible.
I would set my preferences for warping to repitch and just do the other stuff (beats warp algorythm on beats and so on..)
If there is no looping involved on that part then just 'warp off' the clip
@@HomegrownAudioChannel I appreciate the feedback, however it's not negligible. My tracks are off by as much as a full second. I'll try to mess with some of the settings you talked about, and see if I can get any change out of it.
Holy shit this is crazy. How did you discover this???
By accident 🤣🤣 like all great things
Thanks mate this can be hell on its own, fucking ableton :D (still an awsome program)
I love it and I hate it. 🤪
👍🏽
hi does this work in ableton live lite 8?
I'd like to know the bpm before loading into Ableton ? any quick vst's you'd recommend?
U can always use a bpm counter like a tap bpm app if ableton doesn't read the bpm correctly
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
tried a bunch of times. didn't work. not even close. ( tried it using a current house track)
Well, there are a number of reasons why u might be getting it wrong. Track is same BPM all throughout?
Are you leaving the original warp point? Are you getting the wrong BPM ? This has worked for hundreds of people so u are probably missing something 😅
Omfg 😱 It’s like discovering that God is just son of the Devil. 😂😂😂 Seriously dude. U should mail Ableton about this. No wonder I spent billion hours trying to fix this crap in one of my projects.🤯🤯🤯🤯
"you are doing it wrong" - ok boomer!
It's a 4 year old video on a 20 year old bug buddy . Keep scrolling
Hahahaha ableton should fix this bug because it gave me oy of horrible years glad i saw this video by accident because i thought i saw most warp video's
Yes they should I think I discovered it in 2005 😂
is this still relevant?
havent tried newest version of live but its been doing it since live 1 so pretty sure they havent sorted this out yet :)
