Él es " música " su voz su cuerpo su rostro su vibración su alma todo está conectado a tal modo que pareciera entrar en transe " THE KING ELVIS "🥋🎤🎸😏👑😘
There’s a behind the scenes video of him waiting to go on stage and sitting around with the band reading letters etc and he’s practising this song because he kept forgetting the first verse and he said once he got past that he’d be ok, not sure if it’s the same video or another but somebody suggests writing the lyrics down and leaving them on stage 🙂
Elvis just makes it so good and real. It's as if he's singing, so time stands still. It can't be explained. As if 50 years had not passed. This ability to affect and make you stare at him is simply phenomenal.
You’ve mentioned his band a couple times. You will never hear his band members speak bad of him or him of them. They loved and respected one another greatly and enjoyed their times together. That is well documented. Another great reaction!😊
I agree a 100% and doubting into that research is really fun.I hope he does it! I No, you have requested songs. I have 2 Solitaire, which is on Elvis Presley, the album. And unchained melody is very last public performance in 1977. It's very difficult to watch, but your heart taken to heaven 😊
He mentioned many times when pushed on his personal views that he was just an entertainer. And what an entertainer he was! Many can sing, but to have that stage presence is truly something else
He was executive producer of his music, watch some of his rehearsals they are as much fun as his performances. I like the way you see Elvis some people don't understand his style. You do. Thanks so much.
After seeing this in That's The Way It Is became an immediate fan and have been hooked for life - love it - song is so special apart from the performance and Elvis looking gorgeous as usual - there is just something so amazing about this song - love your reaction 👑💛⭐ Can you believe that they left this masterpiece out of the reissue of TTWII in 2001!!!!!
Wonderful reaction. Love the way you analyze these performances. Hard to describe how Elvis makes us feel! You are so right he absorbs the music. He is like electricity it runs through his body and through us. That’s why the girls screamed..this was a cover of BJ Thomas who also sang “Rain drops keep falling on my head”. Elvis put his spin on it with the orchestra and back up singers made it better. That’s the way it is was filmed over a six day period when he first started in Vegas he was excited to start a new faze in his career. He hired his musicians, back up singers and was involved in the whole production. There is a version of this rehearsal that you can see him putting this song together. 1970 Elvis was at the top of his game. As a man you have not mentioned how beautiful he was. One of the most handsome men that ever lived. He is an icon and all the young men of the 1950’s imitated his style of fashion and hair.
One of my absolute favourite songs. Thanks for giving Elvis the kudos for being the consummate musician and amazing talent he was. Having been a fan for 50+ years I get so angry about the disrespect he always seems to attract. My first introduction to him was the documentary film 'That's the Way It Is' back in the early 1970s which includes this performance and I saw then exactly what you're saying ‐ the music flows through him and is part of him. Watching these reactions makes me appreciate more and more all the musicians around him too. Elvis forever ❤
This is one of my ALL TIME favorites of Elvis. I have always wanted to hear someone with some theater/music background react to it and you did a great job. I always notice how he uses his deep lush voice to tell the girls “sing it baby”, “one more time “, etc…it is like it is part of the song. His relationship with his band and back up singers was like no other--he appreciated their talent and always said they made him sound good. JD Sumner, who Elvis use to watch sing as a teenager in a gospel quartet, said that Elvis would thank him, JD, for letting him(Elvis) share the stage with him. He lives JD’s big base voice. His humility and love for others was also one of the reasons he touches people--it is communicated in and through his music. And you nailed is when you said he is the “conductor” through which ALL the music flows-it is quite spiritual. He always felt he was given a gift by God to help people feel the love of God.❤️
Glory Hallelujah!!!!! Elvis is in the building!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Thank you Mike for another fantastic reaction....your appreciation of his skill as a theatrical maestro in addition to his gorgeous voice is exciting to listen to ....I imagine the audience was mesmerized by his charisma and spontaneity and found it hard to look away from him..because you didn't want to miss anything he might do on that stage..even the musicians and back-up singers stated they constantly watched him because he could be unpredictable and they knew they had to keep up with him. How sweet it is to watch him... thank you again ...always look forward to your reactions.
You are right about the audience being mesmerised by Elvis. I saw him on stage in 1976 and could not take my eyes off him. I wasn't even aware of the band and back up singers. He poured his heart and soul into every song, and the fans responded with all their love, calling out to him, waving at him.
Your observations are bang-on. Only a true fan can see Elvis's mastery, recognize all the elements that create a great production, and showcase Elvis's ability. The man was phenomenal, a true artist.
Hi Mike, Elvis implored his back up singers, especially during rehearsals, not to leave him “out there” on his own. You mentioned that the band and singers closely surround him. That’s by design. It is hard to believe how insecure Elvis felt on stage and in the studio and his sense of reliance on all the contributors. And yet, at the same time, he was totally in control of the songs development, expressing exactly what he is trying to achieve. Like so many aspects of this remarkable performer, this is a real juxtaposition. I’ve been a dedicated Elvis fan since 1961 and while I spend hours and hours at a time researching him, he still completely fascinates me and I am still a million miles from understanding him, the man and the image.
I absolutely love your take on Elvis and don't mind you stopping! I appreciate you! Thank you for keeping his music and memory alive! You would love his rehearsals. Lol There sooo fun. Check out Words with the Sweet Inspirations. TCB ⚡👑🌹
Check out a few of these elvis songs.. Let me be there live 74. If you talk in your sleep Blueberry hill/ I got stop loving you live 74. Bitter they are, the harder the fall. Saved I got a feelin in my body
I am really enjoying your Elvis reaction videos, particularly your meticulous analysis - keepthem coming! If Elvis had decided to make a studio recording of this song, in Nashville during June 1970 for example, would it have been any better than this performance which became the RCA master? Personally I have my doubts, since to me this is beyond perfection and as such I must nail my colours to the mast and admit that this is my all time favourite Elvis recording. To create a musical masterpiece within the studio environment, Suspicious Minds for example, is one thing when you have a top rate producer (Chips Moman) a single minded determined artist (Elvis) and the best possible material and tools (the song and band) where you can take as many takes as necessary. To make a classic like this in one take, in a live environment is something most singers can only aspire to. If there is one line to sum up this song (and Bridge Over Troubled Water from the same show) and Elvis Presley in August 1970 in particular it is this - many can sing but only few can perform!! Released by B.J. Thomas earlier the same year, this version shows Elvis at his very, very best as the vocal is relaxed yet powerful, both band and orchestra are virtually flawless. Elvis' singing of the word 'girl' at the end of the first verse is almost unbelievable! This version, from 11 August Dinner Show, was selected both for the movie and to open the original That’s The Way It Is 1970 album, and due to public demand was released as a single in the UK reaching #6.
You are easily the best Elvis reactioner (if you will) going around at the moment. I genuinely look forward to your videos. If I was to suggest anything it would be Hurt 1977.
This just earned you a new sub. Superb work putting The KING's brilliance into words....thank you so much for that. ELVIS was on fire for these dinner and midnight shows in '70. "I Got A Woman" that was featured in "That's The Way It Is" is great fun as well as "Poke Salad Annie". Actually, all of the performances are magic and so many "chef's kiss" moments! ELVIS....The KING! The *BEST* to ever do it, baby!!!! 🫡 💯 🎉 👑 ✨️ *T⚡️C⚡️B* ✨️ 👑
He was worried he wouldnt remember the lyrics, that's the reason for the sheet of paper and his chuckle shortly after starting. Notice he or Charlie flubs the lyrics later on in the performance. Another great reaction !
Love your reactions. So incredibly smart. I remember someone once said they never saw anyone "in the zone" as much as Elvis. That is so true and I'm so very glad we have these live performances to see it. What I don't hear many people saying is this man isn't singing yesterday. This was 50 plus years ago. With 50 plus year old technology. Yet the sound is so strong and pure. And Elvis was so comfortable with his little 4-piece band that he wasn't confident he could sing with an orchestra. OMG, could he sing with an orchestra? I'm an old Elvis fan, been one all my life. I got sick and tired of just seeing and hearing all the caricatures of him. I'm so glad to witness the respect of his talent.
Elvis does conduct his band & singers. Orchestra too, to a point. The conductor is constantly watching him. If you watch him, and the band and singers, they never take their eyes off him. That has been said in his documentaries. And even stated by the back up singers themselves. You really should roll back a bit after you stop it to restart again.
That was a really good call with thinking this had that "Raindrops are falling on my head" feel. I got to see B.J. Thomas live before he passed away. He is another one that sounds the same live as he does on the records. In fact... When he sang this song, when I saw him live, he didn't like the way he ended it vocally. So he said, "I can do that better", and he re-sang the ending. It was funny and cool at the same time. 😂
Excellent review and reaction. You are so perceptive and eloquent with your comments. Always so spot on. Thanks so much. I really love everything Elvis and I really love your channel.❤❤❤
From the documentary Elvis That’s the Way It Is… there’s a focus on this song throughout rehearsals. Elvis stresses about remembering the words and he echoes that to the point where he just decides to take the words on stage. Despite that, the second time singing…”and I just can’t help believing, when she SMILES AND WHISPERS HER MAGIC…it’s actually wrong…it’s “when she’s whispering her magic”, Elvis starts to re-sing “smiles up soft and gentle”, laughs and catches himself…flawlessly and in true Elvis fashion, glides right through it. Another note. Elvis introduces the song as “Bj Thomas has out a new record” as he has his back to the crowd and is walking towards the band, then jokingly turns around as if he forgot there was an audience and says “OH, BJ Thomas has out a new record” to crowd laughter..then says “I don’t particularly like it, but you know it’s his own thing” then asks for the words. That’s where this video picks up. I know this is a lot, but it’s noteworthy. So many of these UA-cam videos cut out vital parts of his personality. For example, after he sings An American Trilogy from the Aloha concert in 1973, Elvis takes off his belt to his most iconic jumpsuit ever and throws it into the audience. Why this isn’t part of the UA-cam downloads I’ll never know. You do a tremendous job!! Thank You!
So glad you did this song. The reason Elvis had the piece of paper is because he was afraid he might forget the lyrics. But as always he was Brilliant !! (Originally sung by BJ Thomas) Two other songs you might like 1) Just Pretend 2) The Wonder of you... Both in 1970 & I so enjoy your response😊
He was.so nervous about forgetting the lyrics. Try “You’ve lost that loving feeling” and “Polk Salad Annie” - also from 1970 in Vegas. It dosen’t get any better.
Glad I found this since no notice again. He was very concerned about not remembering the words to this song. Notice at 9:08 he had a bit of a flub of lyric & then glanced over to the backups w-a tiny laugh. He also held the lyric sheet in '72 Greensboro, North Carolina for "Burning Love" w-a fun ending ua-cam.com/video/sx7I4DfUGM4/v-deo.html, explaining it was a new song & he thought they might goof it up. He also did a wonderful "Release Me" at that concert ua-cam.com/video/OJY5Lah-aEg/v-deo.html, & sounds like some audience participation after he says "chug-a-lug baby. '72 was a really good yr. overall. Thanks again.
Great commentary...big thanks as always. OH ELVIS. WE❤U SO MUCH.❤❤😊😊 Song rehearsal/song performance video of "Twenty Days 20 Twenty Nights" 1970 Just Pretend 1970
This song was sung by BJ Thomas as was “ Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” so you are correct. BJ had a mellow voice that sounds like Elvis. Elvis had a much bigger range than BJ Thomas but Elvis clearly loved this song and it fit perfectly with his voice. Beautiful even though it was new to sing.
My favourite songs from Elvia’s many movies are; Please don’t stop loving me Come on everybody with Anne Margaret, Return to Sender, Bosa Nova Baby & So close yet so far from paradise. Gosh your reactions are wonderful. 💕🇦🇺
You were right that he wasn't familiar with the song, the second time he sang "When she's whispering her magic...' he said "When she's smile/whispering..." he turned to the band and shrugged, saying in effect "my bad." Yet he caught it and didn't miss a beat so RCA released the song, goof and all.
Like his self deprecating comments about his guitar playing skills, on stage, he often said he couldn’t remember lyrics to so. I seen interviews of people who worked with him, who said he had an almost photographic memory. I’m sure at certain later performances, there were some issues. I do believe overall that it was a humorous gimmick for him.
Just discovered you a couple days ago. Your observations are so astute. Really commendable for someone who is relatively new ( I think you said that a few videos ago? ) to Elvis' artistry. So many people get lost in the looks, the glamour, the " HE IS THE KING" mythology, that very few focus on his artistry. Excellent reactions to this complex artist and icon.
I’m just loving your Elvis reactions! Thank you! Here’s a link to all of his Ed Sullivan appearances. ua-cam.com/play/PLWrGyJi1YjcT-L18Lg9k-eGGjahbhEkN9.html&si=Q_lvMaWQpeT8RC5C
In you commentary about the feel of rain drops keep falling your head, Bj Thomas is the original of just can’t help believe n ! He also is the original of rain drops keep falling on head !! You’re commentary nailed it ,I have been listening to elvis since I was eight years old had all is records as teenager ? Well done ?
Great review as usual! 🙂 Awesome job. Can't wait for you to get to the live version of 'Just Pretend', also from 1970. It's a must stop on your Elvis journey. Pretty sure it was Lisa Marie's favorite.
Interesting that you cite Raindrops are falling on my head. This song was originally by BJ Thomas who had a hit with Raindrops for the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Não me canso de assistir ao Elvis Presley.
The King of America
Over fifty years since this magnificent performance by the King.It looks like it could have been recorded yesterday.Timeless genius.

Your review is masterful. You get the brilliance that was Elvis.
Beautiful ballad. Vocal, instrumental, everything.
Elvis makes you feel every word .. he puts everything into his songs a good one to check out is his studio rehearsal of the song called ' Don't '
I absolutely love Elvis❤ doing this performance. Love it. What a voice& entertainer. What a handsome man❤
Thank you for this nice and professional reaction. You can see that you understand a lot about music and recognize things that others don't.
Talk about working the room!!!

I’m sure at certain later performances, there were some issues. I do believe overall that it was a humorous gimmick for him.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC REACTION MY FRIEND! WOW!! THANK YOU!!
👑✌️
Fantastic Reaction once again

Well done ?
I like your Elvis reactions, keep'em coming.👍
Great review as usual! 🙂 Awesome job. Can't wait for you to get to the live version of 'Just Pretend', also from 1970. It's a must stop on your Elvis journey. Pretty sure it was Lisa Marie's favorite.
Interesting that you cite Raindrops are falling on my head. This song was originally by BJ Thomas who had a hit with Raindrops for the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Can you please played trouble from the film King creole please by ELVIS
now try hurt ,the hit singel, then the live version, 1977.😂
Elvis as usual kidding around before he the song said. “ oh BJ Thomas has out a new record. An I don’t particularly like it…Ha.
A conduit? naw, he's just God in disguise, more famous
