Another great Elvis performance. This song was a number one hit for the Righteous Brothers in 1964. Bill Medley and Elvis were great friends & Bill has great stories on how Elvis helped him get started in Vegas. Elvis use to play pranks on Bill 😅
The King of Rock and Roll, ahead of the curve on funk! I can see it. Also elements of Glam Rock - often imitated, never bettered. You can see his influence in disco, later on, and look how he is easily adaptable for modern interpretations like the "A Little Less Conversation" for that football theme. Timeless talent.
OMG I just love your reactions. I don't think there's anything better than watching Elvis perform live. Like you said, it's everything. The vocals, the visuals and that face. OMG that face. He sings with his face. I wish there was so much more of the live performances, and even the rehearsals. More should have been captured on film. That's where the gold lies.
Fantastic reaction and analysis! When Elvis was a young man, he told an interviewer that he wanted to put on a show for the fans. He said otherwise they could stay home and listen to the records. You are spot on when you describe what Elvis is doing vocally ( I absolutely go weak when he lets out that cry lol ) and with the whole performance. I can't tell you how many times I've watched this performance along with all of his other performances. I never get tired and I always feel better than I did prior to listening and watching.
Great reaction.I always like your reactions because you understand the nuances of his performance and the interactions between the band and the audience.Thank you keep up the good work reaction. I always reactions because you understand The nuance of his style , his performance , his interaction with a band the nuance of his style, his performance, his interaction with the band.
Another absolutely perfect reaction to this iconic performance by Elvis. I love your comments and observations. You really understand what makes Elvis so mesmerizing. ❤❤❤
You give such great analysis and insights into Elvis’s performances. Thank you for your attention to details, there is so much to say about Elvis and you always seem to nail it every time. Elvis is fantastic, just keep them coming ❤
I love the Righteous Brothers version, but Elvis puts this sing on another level. If you ever want to hear stories from people who knew him, you got ti have Bill Medley ( one of the Righteous Brothers) on your agenda. 💚☀️
love, love this performance basically for all the points that you made . He was the ultimate showman and he knew how to work his craft. He was a master craftsman. Also , damn he was smoking hot
Grew up with this from the Righteous Bros. Love it. Love this too. As one person said, and I agree, "Righteous Bros. is pretty. Elvis is raw." You need to roll it back after you restart, you miss a lot of stuff.
I so appreciate your Elvis reactions--you combine knowledge with a sincere emotional response. It is amazing how his voice, with it’s tonal quality and the way he has not only developed it but his ability to control all aspects of it, reaches out and grabs your soul by the neck! Couple that with His showmanship, charisma, beauty, humor, and kindness, he is above all others in his craft--he is music incarnate. Thanks for taking us with you on this journey.
You have got a fabulous descriptive way of reviewing my friend. Elvis was the master of all he sang. No other performer came close to his range and diversity of music he sang.
What I wouldn't give to have been at one of these early Vegas shows ❤ An absolute masterclass in performing, and conducting everyone on stage as you say. Not sure if you've reacted to Bridge Over Troubled Water from this same show, another complete masterpiece.
Hi Mike, thanks for another great reaction to the one and only Elvis,, He is a Master of his Craft and the Thing is, he is just being himself, the entire band had to watch his every move, cause you never knew what he was going to do next , Elvis was a producer in a way and all the people who worked with him would say the same , they were a Family and Elvis always treated everyone like he wanted to be treated b, He was a very humble Man who just wanted to make his fans who loved him, get his extreme attention and he never stopped doing that, he said They put the shirt on my back, so they can take it off , I have yet to see one performer who gave so much of himself and ELVIS was the Magic and Mystic of the world, I'm so happy to have seen him on 3; occasions, best days of my life , love your reactions to Elvis and if you haven't reacted to Elvis singing Just Pretend, I suggest you do b, powerful performance, also in Vegas 1970, keep on TCB. 1935
@@therewatchproject you are so welcome, Mike was I must say that I love your accent , is it from the UK, just curious And you have to react to Elvis singing Just Pretend,, it is one of my favorites as well as the husband thanks for the great reaction to Elvis.. TCB 1935 N
Another fantastic review Mike..such insightfulness. Would love for you to review him singing It's Still Here, in which its just him sitting at rhe piano at 2AM in the morning which Felton Jarvis thankfully decided to record. He makes you feel you're the only one in the room with him. Pure magic. ❤
Don’t get me wrong I love the looseness and the sense of discovery in Elvis in the 50s but these performances from 1970 for the concert film that’s the way it is are just on a whole other level. They just kick *ss
Great reaction Mike, you are a fantastic observer. Hope you will pick some of the perfornances I have emailed to you. Great to follow your journey. Thanks mate!
I wasn't a huge fan of this cover at first. Seeing how Elvis delivers it, with all the drama and extra exaggerated moves live onstage has really turned me to love it. This has been digitally restored to 4K, the old films have been damaged by age. It's the fact that all he had was some spotlights, himself and a phenomenal band and look at what he created with the basics. I mean, compared to what acts have at their disposal 50 years later... 50 bloody years!! "Listen to me talkin' to ya"! That tops it for me, I can imagine Elvis was a real a*seh*le to argue with lol. I love him so much and I think I love him more each day. I never really delved into his 70s era but this seems the best of best of him. It's a travesty he died so young, he had much more to give had he been managed professionally and had he had the balls to get rid of the fake colonel. Was it Lamarr Fike or Joe Esposito who said "I thought he had no right to die... Elvis left so much on the table and left with so little..." That struck me as 101% true. He didn't enjoy the rewards because he was always reaching for something he couldn't have (now we know about tom, when he didn't know the situation). And he wasn't awarded or acknowledged nearly enough for his work and his lifetime achievements. He deserved to win, he deserved the accolades and he deserves to be relevant and loved today. Sorry for the long comment but far from being an covert Elvis fan now, I tell whoever will listen and I blare him daily, finding new tunes everyday I've never heard before. And I still fancy the arse off him, even though I was 1 year old when he died 🔥🔥 My new favourite is Any Day Now (Elvis In Memphis). Long live the King ❤
Donald Trump gave Elvis the congregational Medal of Honor medal acknowledging his contribution to music when he was president. I didn’t know this till I visited Graceland in 2021. Too bad it wasn’t during his lifetime. Graceland has two rooms of awards and trophies he received during his lifetime and after.
@@MigdaliaTomalinas-os2nz I'm glad it wasn't during Elvis's lifetime. I fear that Elvis would've been tainted by trumps rotten character and politics. But he should have been awarded more, musically.
What do you call that kind of hitch in his voice? Have you ever heard of Clay Aiken in the USA? He did Elvis songs in one of his concert tours and they were damn good. He actually sold around 6 million records himself or cd’s.
This is the "good" version -- thank goodness! Would you believe there is a version where someone deleted the raspiness & crack in his voice -- especially that opening before he whirls around -- which is inconsiderate & stupid to mess w-his normal voice -- & sounds terrible. At least the little flub he made at 3:51 was left in & his little glance over & smile to the backups because they realized what happened. Backstage before going on he said he was concerned about remembering the lyrics, but as you can see, he slid right through as if nothing happened. Thanks.
This song is like a mini opera, what soul the man had!
Elvis ,always puts passion emotion ,and very powerful vocals in his performance ,plus he has a great sense of humor ,he gives 100 percent
The best part of this for me is near the end "listen to me talkin" to ya...."
Love him ❤

Thanks for your analysis of the King. You really hit the nail on the head. Your reaction is perfect 👌 thanks again 🙏🏻❤
I just love how he ends the songs. A true conductor that uses his whole body not just his hands.
Great song and performance - Elvis just takes a song and makes it his own - fantastic - even nearly making a mistake on the lyrics didn't faze him 💕💕
I often wonder if he made a mistake or an editing error?
Amazing reaction. Yes he has everything voice charisma great entertainer. More please 💕💕💕💕
