    Very thoughtful. I’m totally looking forward to coming and living there part-time. On the whole sex worker thing….I have actually been presumed to be one while actually waiting for an Uber while living overseas. I totally agree with what you said, not everyone’s experience, but it definitely does happen 😂

    Hi Lámidé. I’m from the south west of England and i’m currently a mortgage broker but on the side I’m taking my R0 exams for financial advising. I noticed you mentioned the lack of space in terms of roles and progression within the financial sector; with that in mind do you often find that roles can be offered by companies with training along side or would it be a case of already being set up and experienced in the role already?

    • @Lamideelizabeth
      @Lamideelizabeth  8 місяців тому +3

      Personally I’d recommend training where you are, however the real estate market is booming here, I should’ve mentioned that in the video. There’s a lot more roles and opportunities available when it comes to real estate

    Very hard to find a job in Dubai nowadays so I wouldn’t bother trying especially if you have a weak passport .. there is no such thing as minimum wage in Dubai there are very limited opportunities and for specific ethnicities, so don’t bother trying and if you do, don’t get your hopes up.

    • @Lamideelizabeth
      @Lamideelizabeth  8 місяців тому +12

      This is a very negative mindset and sounds like a lot of projection, no one’s saying it will be easy but there are people moving here everyday from different backgrounds and ethnicities

    I think its time we change or expectations, approaches, and particularly that which we share as a group and take everywhere. We've to mich been integrated into Western capitalistic society. The plan and strategy should be to go there gain whatever experience and money you need to save then return to benefit your community. Look at other groups. They send their men to the Middle East to work and earn money for their family back home. That is the primary strategy. Theyre not thinking about really settling there, finding a mate their, or necessarily for the vanity or boastfulness of what such a move could do for ypur career or let you gain one up on your piers. They have a strong sense of self identify and so know when they are in someone else's environment. Again, we are cluless. We think all the world is open to and for us and dont fully understand our disintegration from self and dependence on other and without.

    Girl been to Dubai twice and seen black girl escorts, we saw them in Enish, they come out late at night and just hang about in there and the Arab men were hanging outside waiting for them. This is what the waitress told us. Then during our second visit we saw them at the Marina, we had just left Asia Asia and they were sitting on the benches dressed for “ work”. We were at the expo an old man approached my sister and I we just walked off. I was so pissed off and we were dressed modestly.

    Realistically you don’t need £60k a year to live comfortably in Dubai? For corporate roles those salaries are rare for expats! Especially now in an oversaturated market salaries have reduced in the Middle East, even at Management level. 15k aed per month (£35,000 a year) can give you a good quality of life in comparison to the UK as a single person. Living in the main areas of Dubai e.g Downtown/Marina.

    • @Lamideelizabeth
      @Lamideelizabeth  8 місяців тому +9

      You’re probably right tbh, I’d say £60k is the minimum I would accept as someone who works in banking because the minimum price of rent I see for an apartment I would live in is AED 70k (£15k) And I wouldn’t want my rent to be more than 25% of my income

    Hi Lámidé, thank you for your honest video , much appreciated 🙂 if you set up a company in Dubai they issue the tax residency certificate after spending 90days per year in the country. Does the UAE really give you this certificate after the 90 days? Because I've heard that this isn't really true and that they only issue it after 183 days. Cheers!

    One of the advantages of being a mother in the Gulf as compared to the US or UK is that childcare is more affordable. Consequently, women who wish to keep their careers going and the attendant benefit of a continued income and investment ability are able to do so with more ease. It is also easier to be single if in a good professional position as one is able to secure their financial future and ensure they do not have to worry about retirement.
    Lastly, the sun issue also depends on where one is living. If one is living in a highrise without a balcony or a balcony in a direction that does not get light, then basking is more tricky. However, if one lives away from the city centre e.g. in a compound with a flat or maisonette with a well-positioned balcony, there are about 5-6 months in a year when one can bask and get that solar exposure. As temperatures rise, basking becomes a process of 15 minutes on the balcony, 15 minutes indoors etc and then stops altogether so one can maximise by putting on shorts and a tank top (if at home).
    Finding ways to bask is important as Vitamin D deficiency is common in the Gulf amongst those who do not find a way to sun themselves and are not on supplements. A Vitamin D deficiency can then lead to a calcium deficiency which can be evident in increased dental sensitivity and odd aches and pains. Deficiency in Vitamin D can also cause mood disorders as you rightly note.

      Hmmm perhaps I can answer this in another video to go more in depth but it’s actually fine tbh. It can feel a bit lonely at first but then you adjust, I think it’s a good experience for your confidence and self-reliance. Now that I’ve left, I find it a lot harder when I’m at home because I’m so used to having things my way however I still wouldn’t rush to live out alone. Pro tip is if you have any apprehension about living alone done get a super big space, somewhere of good size and cosy is a good way to start!

    you absouletly *can* let your residential property in the UK
    "with ease"
    for those that are unaware, you can rent a spare bedroom to a lodger *tax free* up to £7,000 per annum.
    secondly, by filling a one page form literally any high street bank will grant you a Consent To Lease which allows you to rent your entire home without switching your mortgage.
    its also 100% legal.

    • @Lamideelizabeth
      @Lamideelizabeth  7 місяців тому

      You’ve kind of proved my point there is a lot more leaps to jump through in comparison to other countries where you can literally just get up and go
      Consent to let is only supposed to be done for temporary purposes if you’re relocating abroad for an extended period of time you technically should not be using it
      Not all lenders allow consent to let and also if you’ve used a scheme like Help to Buy you won’t be able to
      Also London has a 90 day cap on listing your property on AirBnB, so if you want flexibility it’s a lot more difficult than other countries which is my point. I’m not saying it’s impossible it just has a lot more barriers than other places, speaking from personal experience
