The MOST Important Part of the Golf Swing
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 жов 2021
- We use the ground for power and motion in the golf swing, but the release of the golf club, the artistic end of the kinetic chain, is the wrist joint. This is where our feel and sense for the golf club within space lies, you can get away with a bad golf swing if you have an awareness for where the golf club is specially and temporally. So we must sensitise ourselves to the wrists! If we do that, then you'll get the perfect golf swing achieved in no time!

Marcus ... of all the people on UA-cam, peddling their stuff, you are the best. Your ideas about "feel" and "awareness" rather than "positions" are right up my street. Add that to how well your articulate your ideas in words and that makes you a really seriously competent man. Your ideas have really helped and inspired me. Thanks. Keep up the good work!!
This is the number one golf tip of all time. 🤯 I've heard before that the waggle should not just be to get loose, but used as a way to prepare for the shot. I never quite understood what that meant until this video. It's so simple, but of course it is crucial to be aware of the clubface at impact and get the feel ahead of time for how the clubface should come in to the ball to produce the desired shot. This is 100% going to be the foundation of my preshot routine going forward. Thanks!
This was brilliant!!!
Wow. After I finished I then went back and rewatched that final swing many times. He willed himself into it. So eloquent, passionate and informative about how this helps with your next swing. Then he goes ahead and absolutely stripes it in one take with a shot that anyone on tour would be happy with. 👌👌👌
Getting through a lot of your content after a recommendation from Jay at my local golf shop. 3 months into learning golf and determined to keep improving as quickly as possible! Thanks mate
Best golf teacher 👨🏫!!! On UA-cam … 👍🏽💯as I tell the members at my club who get lessons - if you don’t improve something immediately..run as far away from him/her as you can -useless not a golf teacher ..just a qualified golf apprentice.. #justmyopinion
This is by far the most inspiring golf learning video I have ever watched in YT. It solved many of my puzzles for building a consistent golf swing. great job. thank you!
I just started watching your videos this week. First one I saw was the one that talks about how the movements of the body, along with loose arms, creates a kinetic chain. I was averaging 230 with my driver, 1st time out after watching the video my drives were averaging 280! Totally blew my mind. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making these videos. 👍
Twirl the club right hand great, left hand not working so well I blame it on a stroke I suffered years ago. I work on improving it daily. Zen is changing my golf thoughts also and for the better, Cheers to all of you guys associated with this program!
I loved the way you talked yourself into that last shot Marcus…”and that, is one of the best tee shots I’ve hit in a long time!” You are an awesome teacher and thanks for all the stuff you post!👍
I think I even surprised myself a little with that one 😂
Taking in the view not only gives you all the key info, it makes for a far more enjoyable round than just staring at a small white ball. Love these tips Marcus.
Absolutely, such an important point!
Your lessons make it so easy to understand what I have struggled with, don't fight the flow. I now have a greater knowledge of the swing, face relationship and how my missed shots are more of me fighting my natural swing. Thanks!!!
Great to hear 💥
Waggles preset shape of golfwsing..
Stepping or just Moving in front of golfball ,feeling body and club Moving together at same pace ...
Feet and hands perfectly synchronised..
What a feeling....
Always connected to your intended ballflight...
Then ready to move...
Took me a long Time to discover the power of all those tiny but do important little things...
Then you become creative on golf course,....and your round is nothing but having fun...
This is awesome, Tony! Sounds like you're becoming one with your surroundings and the tool you're wielding to play this game 😊
All players striving to make consistent contact with the ball need to watch this video and implement this gem into their routine. Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, Fred Couples.....All have silky smooth swings and incorporated a waggle/trigger. Watch Tiger when he warms up, he uses the same "hover waggle" with ever club. Feel is the most important aspect in the game of golf.
Had a great time on the range with theses feels tonight and it was the best session for a while, felt athletic, dynamic and natural with decent results. Out playing tomorrow so hopefully can transfer this to the course.
Yeah, those fine motor skills that control face path take time to attain, but once you have, your options to be creative with the ball flight are limitless…go down the driving range and experiment with tiny tweaks of the wrist at impact…its loads of fun!
You got it 💯
Brilliant video Marcus thank you.
Brilliant, Thank you,
Great piece of information, thanks so much
one of your best yet, thanks Rod
Cheers, Rod!
Incredibly powerful and insightful. Because it’s simply truth. It resonates
That's awesome, Chad, pleased to hear
@@GRFGolf love your stuff. like I've mentioned before, in my humble opinion, it's THE best out there. would love to connect with you in person sometime, but until then, I'll take what I can get. thanks again, it's super valuable.
Good stuff. I cannot wait till my GRFI system gets here so I can spend the winter training in ZEN
Very good. You continue to expose golf's real fundamentals, which have been hidden for decades behind rubbish like "keep your back straight", "align your feet to the target" and "keep your head down".
Extra points for managing to use the word "specificity" - I'd be there all day trying to say it correctly on camera. 👍
Thanks for your support 👍
Didn't even need another take for 'specificity'. Couldn't believe it 😂
I can't believe it was planned, I think you just found yourself saying it and somehow managed to finish without spitting your teeth out.🤣
😂😂 I never script anything, all off-the-cuff 👍
Love this approach to the game. Natural like it should be.
You got it 👊
marcus , that was your best video yet , if zen golf was the army i would sign up now , good luck with the new project too ,keep the top class vids comin mate , no. 1 on youtube .......
Haha that's awesome, thanks for the kind words! ZEN Army 😂👊
Seems like every video you make stuff really start to click. I was having trouble with the same issue and once I started from the very beginning of a swing I was able to swing from the inside out and close my club face correctly I was able to hit a low hook
Absolute quality
Thanks Richard
I should’ve mentioned I am not a very good player so I really have never drawn the ball or faded the ball I am usually going for straight. Just been a week end Golfer but not a whole Lotta time to practice. I love the game though and always wanted to get better.
Very good ! And , the more you stay on both feet until impact , the better coordination of club and body !
The more we leverage the ground the greater our physical awareness for the upper extremities (including the wrists) which are attached to the golf club we will have 👍
Great - really fits in with the focus video which has helped me get back on track. Now do a lesson on getting a fairway wood shot to be effective!! I have successfully used these ideas with a driver but topping the 5 wood is so frustrating!!
Will get to work on a new vid 😉
Great info
Cheers, Anton
Good.. there is a time gap before you hit the ball and arrival at the Ball
Marcus Eblad says to release the driver way back in the downswing as does Monte S. Thoughts?
havent even finished the vid but thanks for the great advice :D
You're very welcome!
Friggin Amazing
Human's are pretty amazing if we give ourselves the chance
Priming!!
Smoked the drive, great shot!!!
Thank you 😂
Great stuff about the connection between wrist and face…never thought of it like that before. That said, if you were waggling for 11 minutes before hitting the shot and I was in the group behind, you would soon know about it 🙈😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂 better make it a good waggle if it takes me this long 😝
THIS MAN has made me consider that the body knows how to swing the club already - you just need to get out of the way to let it happen.
I adopted some of your approaches at range and my strike was immense to extent I could hit my stiff shaft 2 iron 220 plus however I was a disaster on course today you reckon it much better to practice on real grass rather than range Matt's for true feed back ? Thanks again
This is like a secret formula to someone like me, now you say it as that this is the final part of the swing before impact makes complete sense. I feel like a door has been opened let's hope I can do what it says on the tin. Thanks.
I have also just watched the one for the power transfer through the legs when the lad hits it 49 yards further, top notch.
I found this a little difficult to follow. I have always been such a mechanical player and never really had the feel of the game. I finally switched to the stack and tilt system and have had some success but still have inconsistent contact. I never really found my swing. I love the idea of the Zen method as it can pertain to all of life. Any suggestions you can give how to implement these ideas
how much effort did you feel hitting that great drive?
You Know I and many others - I guess have watched many video's regarding the down swing, the movement of the arms/hand and still get the tempo all wrong - like coming over the top, hitting through the ball while the hips are lagging behind - we have all done it! Being just that little bit out of timing can spoil your round! So I went to the practice area to try what I am about to reveal to you and others who may be interested?
I have been playing golf for over 50 years - yes am an old guy and like many other golfers, I found the game so frustrating, one day you are playing well, then the next day you want to walk in as your game has deserted you and you feel so embarrassed! At the practice range I went into my backswing squatted, then rotated my hips through fully to my intended target without forcing the arms/hands on the follow through - once I take the club back on the line of my ear, I then use my hips/torso to follow through the shot and let my arms/hands come through to the ball attached to my torso, thus bringing the club head back to where it started at address! No more fighting with the wrists/hands/arms! As long as you remember - hips before your tits, then your timing will be spot on every time! The minute you try to force the follow through with the arms/hands, then your game becomes frustrating!
Take your normal takeaway - up -not around your body! once you get to your back swing limit - leave it there and then just use the hips to follow through fully! Sorry Marcus for sharing my thoughts through your blog, but like you I want to share what I have found out over the years and what is best for me
maybe it works for oldies like me - I look forward to any feed back from those who may go out on the range and try this!
Brilliant, as usual. The questions I'm always asking, in no esoteric sense at all; what is the source of my animation, how connected am I, and how can "I" get out of the way. The legendary Bruce Lee had many great sayings. One of my favs: Self consciousness is the single biggest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical movement.
That's an unreal quote! Aldous Huxley had a favourite of mine: "There is a Law of Reversed Effort. The harder we try with the conscious will to do something, the less we shall succeed."
@@GRFGolf Indeed. Can't go wrong with Huxley. This principle is also a central axion to all "internal" martial arts. Today, that creeping little thought, "just give it a little" cost me about 5 shots! And that's a victory for me! Thanks for replying. Mostly I hear from the spammers. I appreciate it greatly!
I like Justin Thomas’ pre-shot routine. He takes back the club, watches the head of the club going upwards then coming down towards the ball, sensing the point of impact.
👊👊👊
Marcus, great video, I will try it at the range today. Does same apply over iron shots?
Thanks, hope it makes a difference. Absolutely for the irons 👍
@@GRFGolf Thanks for responding
Great video, I used to waggle the club aimlessly too, now that I know what I have to achieve with the back swing and club head at impact, I move the club back and forward with intent. Also what did you say at 3:06.
Specificity! Just referring to how specific your awareness is to how it is you're moving 👍
@@GRFGolf Nice
When you swing the cub back how soon should the trail wrist bend back in extension, sooner or later or does it just happen as a result of no tension? I often feel that my right wrist doesn’t have enough bend at the top of my backswing ,but when my hands are relaxed at the top it happens but I feel I’ve got no control of the club
Just enough for your intended shot shape. Experiment. Find what's comfortable for you.
How far back does it go and when does it extend picking up and putting down a cup of coffee? Or, throwing a ball high, or low?
Can't pick anything apart with the replied comment here! Maybe try exactly as Michael suggests, also one handed to amplify you're sensation of where the club head is and swinging through space 👍
Love the Stan Smith's. Where were you in 72? Now do a video for those with hands of stone, not wired for fine motor movement.
I was just a twinkle in my parents' eyes in 72 😂
Check out Ash's lesson from last week on the true fundamentals of golf. There's some stuff there that may help 👍
Hej
Been following this channel for a while and I like the zen idea, it makes perfect sense. Being a 19.7 hcp (65) and played 23 years I will purchase the gfr board. I think I am still struggeling with weight shift/torque. Having said that, I feel lost about this video and the focus on wrist action. I have a hard time to belive that I can somehow manipulate the wrist action in a fraction of a second (before/through) impact. This sounds like black belt stuff but then again maybe I'm not getting the message in this video. Thanks anyway and hopefully I'll progress with the basic motion with the board.
Hey up Manfred, the wrists are just the end part of the motion or (kinetic chain) as you may have heard it being referred to in previous videos. The waggle is just to give us a sense of it as for in the full motion, you'll experience it as a *snap* of the golf club. More to come, keep at it and further explanations will come in later videos 👍
@@GRFGolf thanks, that'll help . Since the golf outdoor season is ending this weeked (sweden) I'll purchase the board and it will be the perfect indoor training.
The back of your hands are tarsal bones sound technically it’s your fingers not wrist.
Ray floyd was the master of the Waggle
Be like Ray!
I think for a lot of players the waggle is more of an anxious movement rather than a representation of the intended swing
Fascinating verbal and physical lesson.
Good stuff, Mick, thank you 🙌
What do you think about the idea of swinging the handle, not too many talk about it.
I try and move away from reducing singular parts of the whole. Whilst the focus of this video was somewhat of the wrists, it's a sensation emergent from the entirety of the movement. Including the club, to sense the handle, of course that's what we're gripping onto! But there's a shaft and club head attached to that which we want to sense and swing too.
@@GRFGolf yes of course there’s the whole club, but what I’m realizing lately is too much focus on the head which tends to overtake the rest if thrown at the ball. Just as in casting a fishing pole, you would never think about throwing the hook and bait first, but while feeling it you whip the handle and everything else follows. As in baseball you swing the handle not the barrel. I’m finding it easier to control a shorter stick than a longer one.
Lee Trevino says what way the back of your left hand at impact faces is where the ball predominantly goes
At least where the ball starts anyway 😉
But where is the hidden power joint?
😂😂😂😂
Sensible comment re tour players vs average golfers. They are soo much stronger in the core than normal players and much better connected to the ground
We all experience things differently in our own way so it also applies to any other player we try and imitate, be it a tour pro or not.
Waggle it like nobody is watching!. 😜✌👍
😂😂😂 no comment
@@GRFGolf you know.✌👍👀
Mic drop

Waggle dat shit, and dassit 🤣
😂😂
It all definitely starts with a waggle 🤣
Always 😂
