  • Your specialty is a very important factor to consider if you have plans to move to the UK from India.In this video I have discussed 5 main considerations which you should have to choose your medical specialty. This is applicable to all international medical graduates planning to move to the UK. The main factors are:
    1. Passion
    2. Early Vs Late Establishment
    3. Work-Life Balance
    4. Less competitive specialties
    5. Country of Work/ Settlement

    Greetings Dr. Suman ,
    Lots of thanks for your highly informative videos & of course for your valuable time making these videos. would you please tell us something about " GUM " ( GENITOURINARY MEDICINE) as a specialility . We know the competetion ratio is very low but what about the future specially regarding availability of job after CCT in GUM ? Why doctors are not interested to study GUM in UK ! Would you please give some advice or make a video about the future of GUM !
    Plesae stay safe & all the best wishes .

      GUM is a very niche specialty and very few hospitals have service of GUM clinics. Probably that is the reason jobs might be quite limited. They mainly deal with outpatient clinics. Job prospect of Broad specialities are much better than these niche specialties

    Greetings Dr. Suman
    I have worked in oncology, hematology, bone marrow transplant unit for 9 years as junior doctor in one of private hospitals in India. But unfortunately I didn't do any article writing or research.
    1. Is there any advantage of work experience as junior doctor-mbbs
    from Indian hospital?
    2. Should I apply for oncology speciality training later on or better to change?
    3. I think Oncology and hematology are different training posts in uk. Which is better for future aspects?
    Thanks and Regards

    • @SumanPaulDoc
      @SumanPaulDoc  2 роки тому

      Your experience is more suited towards haematology.there is no advantage of your Indian experience except it is counted for job experience.both oncology and haematology are very good branches, oncology is a medical specialty so you will need some general medicine experience.there are some really good cancer centers in UK.

    Hi Doctor . I am applying for fy2 as I have done mbbs and recently cleared my Plab .
    Please tell me
    1. How difficult is it to get into pulmonary medicine st4 , after one does his imt from UK . I mean u know in India we have to give neet ss after md . And sometimes it takes 1 , 2 or even 3 years to get into super speciality branch like endo , cardio etc . Is it the same in UK.
    2. What is the salary of a pulmonologist who has done his imt and CCT from UK , if he wishes to work in Indian private hospital ( approx salary )

    • @SumanPaulDoc
      @SumanPaulDoc  Рік тому

      1. The competition is much less in UK as compared to India. You will have an advantage being a UK trainee.
      2. I don't know much about this. In simple words, Indian private hospital does not pay a premium for your qualifications. If a quack doctor help them generate more revenue, they will get more salary than the most qualified doctor.
