Rob: I can hear the Seymour Duncan’s in what feels like a PRS
Lee: it has strings so it could be either a bass, a guitar or a violin
but lee could tell the Jimi fretboard was shiny..
In fairness, Rob never touches the fretboard if he can help it.
'This was a good idea for a video before it started...'
@@GrumpyTy34er ooof! xD
omg lmao xD
Lee: is it a Danny Devito signature model?
Rob: It's a John Mayer Silver Sky, with a slightly dead D-string. The man who built this particular guitar is of Dutch/Irish heritage, and he had eaten a sausage egg McMuffin with no cheese for breakfast the morning before he started building this.
Lee: It's a Gretch of some sort.
Rob: This is a Gibson explorer, with Dimarzio PAF Pro buckers, and the 209th wind in the bridge pickup was slightly too tight.
Zachary Lee this is too accurate
This may very well be my favourite UA-cam comment ever.
Rob: *touches neck* It's a 2019 Gibson SG Standard in -
*sucks top horn*
Heritage Cherry
JeffTheSmurf seeing as he has a 50/50 chance of guessing the color of an SG, that wouldn’t be terribly impressive. Now guessing the color of a Les Paul by licking it would be impressive.
Chappers: "This string is dead, this string is half dead" it's one of these guitars.
Chappers the guitar detective.
That was some Sherlock Holmes fuckery.
Thought that was a dead giveaway
Well, it DID sound flubby and muddy
Elementary, my dear captain!
Thanks for jamming on my axe!!
It's such a beautiful looking guitar, man. I had the chance to play your first Epiphone LP 7string signature, and it has been my favorite 7 string that I've played so far. Unfortunately I Just can't afford to have more guitars lined up in my room. This will definately be my next guitar though. Love the work you guys put into your music and shows. Lots of love from Sydney, Australia.
As soon as i saw your guitar I just knew it was going to be a good video
Please do a captain meets next time youre in the uk
I thought it was a buckethead guitar.
i was shouting your name even before they start playing it :D
Rob: That’s definitely a humbucker, listen to it
Humbucker: I am a humbuckeeerr
😂😂
I'm still laughing, that was great
Josh Gurr hahaahahha haahahhaah
Oh man, I missed that. Where was it??
el_lars around 7:08
Even though it’s a hot-rail
My daughter loves Rabea, she calls him Frobro Baggins
:D
ikr Bea's so adorable
"Who else plays a Strat?"
This is going to take awhile, lol.
IKR
I could've named more people who had signature strats at the time
Eric Clapton
Yngwie J Malmsteen
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Ritchie Blackmore
Buddy Guy
Jimmie Vaughan
Jim Root
@@sakimiyu4169 jim root's doesnt have single coils tho
@boyman I know but it's still technically a Stratocaster DUH
@@sakimiyu4169 Jim root play strat? I thought he only play jackson, tele and jazzmaster.
@Scuff Mick Thomson used Jackson
and yes Jim does have a signature strat, watch Psychosocial at BBC Maida Vale Studios. he used one there
you should introduce this as feature at Andertons store. Blindfold shopping. Have special room, have customers pay small fee for the service and bring them 10 guitars in their budget to blindfold test them. And customer without prejudice leaves with best instrument he felt and heard. :D
That's a very interesting concept. I like it! Blindfold shopping!!!!
Alex Janmo i do that too, you just have to like the looks of your guitar
I must admit the PRS John Mayer sounded fantastic.
Luka S Simply Brilliant
That’s pretty much how I chose between the guitars I liked the best when I bought mine
Captains smirk when he says it’s the John Petrucci model. He’s like yeah I cheated I felt the upper horn and piezo switch with my arm
Rob: Without even being handed the guitar, I can tell by the smell and its aura that it's a classic 62 Fender Japanese reissue from March 1998, modded with a Gibson Les Paul neck, EMG 81 bridge pick up, Seymour Duncan prototype triple coil pick up at the neck, painted in a sunburst sky blue with ivory scratch plate made from the tusk of a Mastadon.
Me: Is it a trumpet?
17:07 After guitars of 1700, 3000 and 4000 quid comes the 500 one. "This sounds the best so far."
Frits van Zanten the irony
Rob: "its thick init"
Behind Camera: "...like a coke can"
Smirk.
Blues player likes the signature guitar of a djent player the most
I laughed when he said "It's the best sounding one so far."
"Top 10 betrayals caught on camera"
Guitarists shop with their eyes most of the time so its interesting when you sit down and close your eyes while and play some guitars that people hand you.
I’m like that, I’m def not a metal player but love metal guitars!
Pedro Costa agree make the video
I like how Rabea coughs when he changes the pickup so that they can’t count how many clicks it makes
How the hell does Rob spot things like the bottom two strings being dead?!? It’s like if Sherlock played guitar.
Joe Pearson good ear
when you play dead strings you know it.
I suppose it's his lateral thinking that amazes me the most.
well all those youtube guitarist's that have been trying to call out rob for years, he obvs does know a thing or two
Joe Pearson... if you CAN'T tell that two strings are dead, maybe you should consider a different career...? And without looking.
Damn Rob turned into Sherlock when he said about the E and A being dead meant it was a Jackson or schecter 😂😂😂
Lee acts like we couldn't see him touch the switch on the John Petrucci
dGG ya and forearm on the horn .. it’s pretty distinctive
I was searching for this comment
XD
Rob: "I wasn't touching the pickup." As his fingers are .01 millimeter from the neck pickup lol.
Rob enters 2000 IQ mode with that Jackson
have an idea for a blindfold challenge:
bea, jos, pete, (others?) learn a variety of riffs across all different genres and rob and lee have to guess who was playing. rob will still probably get everything right though
+
"I swear on my child's life"
The child: O.O
31:30 Rob has summoned the demons of hell with one sentence
rofl
It's a STRAT!!!
They edited that wonderfully. XD
i'll be damned
Rory is a comedy genius.
I laughed so hard at that bit!
"I had to tongue it to make sure I can find the hole "
Rob Chapman
Never in my life have I seen someone as lost as when lee was handed the seven string🤣
It hurt my heart when they called it obscure lol. Like, that's my favorite band and frontman's sig 😂
"Whos the guy from Periphery?"... So close lol
I wish this place was in the U.S.A. so I could visit easily and buy some gear + I seriously would like to hang out with these dudes!
Uh...no they seem like cool guys that would be fun to hang out with and learn from. What are you some kind of pervert with a fake username you're hiding behind? I think you need stronger meds for your depression. These you are taking now aren't working.
Brian Stewart yes sir. I'm sorry for my transcretions. Do you think you can forgive me ?
If I thought you were being genuine instead of fake I would..
Brian Stewart I'm genuine. You can know I'm telling the truth because I said so.
Sounds like something I read on the internet..
Lee won't stop playing the opening lick to more than a feeling and won't finish the riff
For whatever reason, I freaking lost it when they put that siren over Rob saying "It's a strat." 😂
This is why I love Andertons.
Lee plays only funk #49 or More than a feeling
Yep
This was way too funny for me
The Mark Holcomb being tuned to standard is melting my brain more than it should be.
Is it even an official Video if Lee doesn't bust out that "More than a feeling" riff? :P
My god, I don’t know if a single guitar was in tune.
Well Captain, you cheeky wee lad. Anyone else notice when he was "copping a feel with his forearm", that he felt the piezo switch on the Petrucci Sig?
"It's very you, Lee" He says about the Djentest guitar in the bunch.
Guys can you do this with rabea and joss and they have to guess signature modern metal guitarists guitars
I love how into the Misha Mansoor djent machine Lee was
seeing all these signature models we need new sound like videos for them guitarists, but Jimi Hendrix, John Frusciante & John Mayer are already done so they're out of the question!
Sound Like The Winery Dogs : Ritchie Kotzen & Billy Sheehan
Sound Like Dream Theater: John Petrucci & John Myung
Sound Like Periphery: Misha "Bulb" Mansoor, Jake Bowen & Mark Holcomb
Sound Like Trivium: Matt Heafey & Corey Beaulieu
Sound Like Bring Me The Horizon: Lee Malia (BY busting the bank)
Sound like Albert Lee
Sound like Deep Purple (Steve Morse era)
Sound like Maroon 5
Sound like St Vincent
Sound like Eric Johnson
Sound like Avenged Sevenfold
Sound like Nick Johnson
Sound like Nevermore or Arch Enemy
Sound like Dorje
Sound like Al Di Meola
Sound like Dave Grissom
or we could have
The Rolling Stones BY busting
Toto BY busting
Stevie Ray Vaughan BY busting
Phillip Sayce BY busting
Bring Me The Horizon BY busting
Alter Bridge BY busting
Santana BY busting
we got BMTH but it was kinda miss
Sometimes it sounds like Lee is gonna start playing “Tonight I’m Gonna Rock Tonight You Tonight” by Spinal Tap.
I'll be happy to participate in the next video. Just send me one of each guitar. You should probably send me an amp as well.
Brett Rader it’ll come back to the shop right ;)
Eventually, but it may take a while. :)
underrated comment
It's a Bolton, Michael Bolton signature.
Watching Rob play blindfolded whilst trying to work out the guitar is just so entertaining. These challenge videos are just so addictive to watch. More please! And hats off to Rob's amazing ears.
Love the scene when lee felt the piezo switch with his arm and acted all wierd for the next few minutes.....hahaha
Blindfolded Rig Challenge. Signature amp, guitar and stuff and guess whose rig it is! :D
Kemper vs HeadRush vs Helix vs Mooer GE200 vs Boss GT-1000 vs 1 tube amp blind test, please.
With Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170 as the amp for the amp sims.
JiTiAr35 best comment video idea I’ve heard yet. All modelers, one tube amp.
+
Up!!!
69 likes also great idea lol
For the last one you should have given them each their own signature Chapmans! (or Chapmen...?)
Definitely agree about Philip Sayce having huis own signature guitar!
Captain allways plays the same "more than a feeling" style intro riff. Every single video, every single guitar.
Rob never fails to absolutely amaze me at his guitar skills
I agree! Captain plays basic chords and Rob blindfolded goes crazy!
9:30 one day, Lee will finish the intro riff to More Than a Feeling
Your "blindfold" vids are the best. They're unique and , at times , very revealing.
Really love the editing on these videos lately, funny stuff
Andertons, can't believe you haven't picked up on the fact that Matt Heafy commented on your video, and you haven't publicly acknowledged it?!
John 5 is playing Teles
Jim root too
there was also the Danny Gatton signature, Jim from Jimmy Eat World had one and also did Chris from the Foo Fighters
Saki Miyu and Joe Duplantier from Gojira
@@Ratmatia Yeah, but that's with Charvel.
I love your videos! If I've had a bad day, I just watch some of these vids and I'm cracking up in no time. Thanks guys.
If you are doing a blindfold challenge with the viewers you should probably do a UA-cam live video so people can comment (and you can read it) in real-time.
Mario Chiu that would be a great idea, I second this
4am in the states. I'd still watch video.
Ehh these are heavily edited for time sake and they shoot multiple videos in one day then post them on a schedule
ryan dirks Thanks Ryan, I'm quite aware that the videos have a lot of editing and that they shoot them in batches, live shows although longer have the interactive bonus, so there's that.
I know that they would have to save a date for it, but hey, why not explore some different formats?
Rob about a 7 string: it's a James Hetfield signature.
Am I missing something...?
St. Anger period I guess. Had some baritones then too.
Yup, there was a video where James Hetfield was seen using a 7-string tuned to Drop C
@Nathaniel Low really? I never saw that, I only knew he had the EET FUK Explorer, the Baritone Grynch, the Vulture, the Truckster, the Iron Cross, and also he has a Gibson V
@@sakimiyu4169 among the hundreds of guitars he has and had, the V was a japanese copy with a Gibson truss rod cover, than he had a Jackson meant to be a signature before ESPs, a couple of Gibson Explorers, than the infamous ESP MX250 (eet fuk, 1st official signature) and other white and black ones. After those he had Les Paul shaped ESP sig, two Flying V ESPs, the thread plate Explorers and the deer skull one and a couple of Ken Lawrence Explorers. And this goes on till the latest ones, with the Grynch in the middle: ESP Trucksters, the Iron Crosses (after the Gibson one) the Snakebytes and the Vultures.
@Francesco Barbaro cool, I've seen a few of his guitars in a rig tour featuring the guitar technicians and I have seen the baritone Grynch in a live performance of St Anger
The diminished chord every time rob guesses something right gets me every time lol
With out wanting to head into ''we're not worthy'' realms, I've loved this video. Thank you so much for doing this. I've loved the stuff you guys collaborate on for a long time and hope to see further content fro. The two of you combined. Thanks again guys.
Love these challenges and great video editing!
Do a blindfold on strings.... heavy vs light and another on brands AND another one types flatwound against something! Thanks. I do love the blind fold shows.
Damn Rob KNOWS his PRS feels
James Russo what's wild is that Holcomb has like the flattest fretboard on the planet lol so if he's not familiar with the guitar I'm a little surprised he so quickly thought it felt like a PRS. Slightly longer scale length I believe and different neck profile than my PRS S2. I love the Holcomb though, killer value.
You guys should definitely do more of these!!!
So excited. Haven’t even watched it yet!!
"I'm saying from the amount of tones that we got out of it, that it's a....a John Petrucci model".
Oh really...it wouldn't be because you cheated and rubbed your arm all over the guitar and felt that knob on the front of it, that only exists on that particular model Cappers? LOL
Happy birthday Rob!
These videos are super fun - keep it up!
I love these videos so much! First time I have seen them both pretty much stumped. Seems they try the normal guitars more than the signature stuff.
"Got your chopper out under a bridge.." LOL Lee!
Not the first time Lee's come out with a cracking one-liner!
Brian Stewart I don’t get it
You know, that might actually be funnier! :)
It's a knob joke.
We have a winner! :)
Rob knows his stuff. That’s a tough challenge and Rob has a great ear 👂
love these kind of videos
wow that majesty sounded really good. and whatever amp and effects were being used. i loved that tone. might need me one :O
REST IN PEACE. Had me crying.
Chris Bradshaw haha Yeah, he did the hand gesture of a surfer and the undertaker's motto! Bizarre 😂
19:36
That was some magical fuckery of deductive observation. Brilliant.
Brilliant video idea
These are always fun to watch! 😊
Nice you need to do this again with orther signature Guitars!! David Gilmour, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, SRV O.O
SemperFidelis , I agree, seriously, those are exactly the sort of guitars I expected given the captains love for Eric Clapton for instance
So only strats you mean?
@Sjef S Page played a Telecaster and does have a signature telecaster
@@KeeperOfPoops yeah thats litterally the only one in that list. Oke to make it more acurate only fenders then
I was surprised there was no Clapton strat tbh
I've been out of the loop, Rob is turning into a Wizard. Look at that beard
Haha,... great of you to mention Philip Sayce! He is from right here in my neck of the woods in southern, Ontario, Canada. I have seen him live in some small clubs in Toronto and Barrie. This guy live is mind blowing and takes me back to the 70's when running about to see all the great guitarists of that era. Keep the high level of entertainment and tutorial videos coming.
Love your guys' channel. Love your guys' content. Please tune these blindfold challenge guitars. Merci Bukkoo....
do some kind of bass guitar blindfold challenge🎵
Is lee playing the intro to more than a feeling by Boston?
He's running through a D chord which is pretty much the same thing :p
You guys make UA-cam interesting to watch again! love you all!
That Holcomb Sig is so beautiful, I see that guitar in my local Guitar center up on the top shelf and I just stand and stare
Would be Nice to hear the captain play something other than the usual g, d, chords
What about signature Basses? Give some love to the low end
i like it that you read the comments and actually do some of these challenge suggestions
The things rob picks up on in tone is honestly crazy. He’s honestly a guitar god.
Got to hand it to Chappers, the guy knows his onions
Don't think they should be allowed to cop a feel, it makes it too easy for Rob.
Ronnie Nose If this man can feel that a string is half dead I believe he might has well be made to wear gloves tbh
Much fun. Thanks.
I think a super cool blindfold comparison would be to take a whole bunch of Stratocasters and other s types and see if they can pick out the Silver Sky from them. Everything from Squiers to custom shops and beyond maybe to make it tricky. Rob was able to tell a PRS neck pretty quick so maybe Lee and good ol' Danish Pete can do the challenge? I think that would be really cool!
“I have to tongue it so I can find the hole and then drink.”
-Rob Chapman
14:48 Rob's got a fro
Hades hahaha
He looks like Hendrix
I love this challenge u guys rock
Wow! It’s like a rowing boat ore, he must be huge! ‘Pete laughing in the back ground’ 😂
Rabea G-Force Massaad
Presenting CHAPTION REPLAY!
New, I think. We've had just ACTION LEE-PLAY so far...
Niranjan Bhat Badekila I've seen Chapiton replay at least once before
Niranjan Bhat Badekila I've seen Chapiton replay at least once before
Nice comparison!
I was waiting for the Silversky without The Captain and Chappers holding the headstock! Hahaha that was fun! And the reaction on the Holcomb, "Oh! Beefy!" Hahaha! From a blues player is just hilarious, really fun to watch!
Holcomb pickups? The Alfa Romeos 😂
