Hi Kaito, Please check the order the flat and spring washer is fitted where you are using the wing nut, in your fitting video. (they are reversed to what it should be) btw, love your 4x4 24/7 videos
Thanks for the video. Regarding fitting the tent to a flat top canopy - how do you line up and drill the holes in the top of the canopy so that they will be in the same spot as the hole in the extrusion bar? It looks like the vinyl floor will prevent you from drilling all the way through? Is there a video instruction anywhere on fitting to a flat top canopy? Thanks
I’ve widened the distance between the front to rear mounting bars. Tent sits flush as. I’ve also drilled through roof of tent to fix my maxtrax holders + a platform you can buy from drifta.
This looks very similar to FSR odessey tent. I have a freedom cross bars by over land. Its rated at 165lbs max. And my stock roof rail is rated at 150lbs max. Will that be enough to support this tent? Im also planning on adding an awening that weighs 40lbs
Hi guys, a couple of questions, first is there a minimum or maximum overhang of the rails on the bottom of the tent over roof bars? I noticed that the tent mounted on Katio's Hilux doesn't appear to be centred and for other reasons listed below, perhaps for good reason. By all reports. his setup has stood up to some reasonable conditions and km's. Keeping in mind the first question, with a dual-cab I've seen some tents mounted a fair length forward of the windscreen. I'd imagine this would create a lot of direct upward force on the tent and racks and this may have caused one to rip some racks off the roof. Do you have any recommendations for this scenario? Finally, one idea I have had to counteract the upward force is to mount the tent on a slight downwards angle with the lower end near the windscreen. This would create some downforce when driving at higher speeds and reduce the risk of it getting lifted off. Any thoughts?
Hey Trav, Kaito here. Mate took the hilux all the way to cape with this setup and had no issues! Just need to make sure your bars or racks are installed correctly and rated to handle the weight. The tent wasnt centred, slightly to the back, just so it didnt overhand the windscreen so far. The ideal setup for a dual cab ute is to mount it over the tray using a ladder rack and headboard, but the setup I run works as well!
@@driftastockton706 Hi Kaito, any chance you can tell me the distance between your cross bars and how much overhang you had at either end of the tent on your Hilux?
Hey Kaito what roof bars do you use for the tent on the N70 and how did you mount the bars? Cheers, looking to do the same as you as I saw what happened with Tyler's rack set up. I have a 2012 SR5 and want to get the 1.4 rtt
Hey Oli, Kaito here I run rhino rack roof bars on my hilux, which while being rhino, is a different setup to tylers platform rack. so far havent had any issues with my setup, I'll be keep a close eye on it though Cheers

Am wondering the same thing. What did you end up doing?
Just a quick question, how would you mount it if you’ve got a Pioneer Rhino rack? (The Flat one)
Did you ever find an answer?

Is there a way to mount it on a frontrunner slim line?
Hey kaito, just wondering what the max span for mounting between ladder rack and head board would be?
Could you drill through the bolts to them add a padlock after installation? Cheers, should be ordering one soon.
yes you could give that a go!
Where can I buy the fittings for the RTT separately?
whats the best low profile looking racks i can have this on? I dont really want a huge gap between the bottom of the tent and the cab or canopy.
Can you mount the Drifta Stockton 1.4 RTT on and ARB Base Rack which is on a 2021 Toyota Prado

I’m wanting to know if I can fit1.4 on 2021prado using Toyota aero bars or rhino vortex six bars fitted to rails on GXL
hey Kaito quick question, how long are the runners?
Hey kaito, what size nylon nut did is recommended to put over the wing nut

Why bother with the wingnut. Just use the nylock nut to secure the RTT to the bars
