Hard to imagine this is 10 years old at this point... Its such an incredible arrangement. I always come back to this as one of my favorite solos of all time.
I know. One of the best guitar instrumentals ever written. Drum and bass is good too ;)
This song still gives me goosebumps after all these years!
Between the 3 albums, I have logged in over 700 miles running. Best music to throw in your ipod and trek the world.
Haven’t listened/watched this in years! Still slays
the solos were just beyond amazing
This music just flows so well.
You know if discovery channel had your guys music, I would watch it everyday.
This is the one of the greatest jams ever.
Underrated. That solo is so nifty.
Without a doubt one of the best instrumentals of all-time
Best composition of metal. PERIOD.
I always imagined that the intro was the car ride to the ocean, the lead up to the solo was driving alongside the ocean (on PCH here in CA), the first solo made me imagine sailing on choppy waters, Chris' solo meant diving into the water and the harmonics part made me picture myself underwater, stumbling across a family of whales slowly swimming by.
I always picture scaling a mountain summit for some reason
3:16-3:20 may be the most beautiful few seconds of rhythmic and melodic cooperation I've ever heard.
simply put, this is my favorite band on earth.
This song is absolutely amazing. Thank you guys so much for creating this absolute masterpiece.
I know this one is titled Whales but every Scale The Summit song reminds me of the ocean.
streamofkuntishness And what is in the ocean? Whales! :)
Most STS songs remind me anything that nature. Ocean, woods, hills, even cosmic events.
Just saw these guys in Atlanta, and they kill it live.
This is musicianship in its purest form...wow
How could anyone dislike this? Messed up people in the world.
The echoes at the end are fantastic!
you make the most beautiful music and you do it flawlessly. simply awesome.
thanks a lot! it means a ton! keep listening we'll keep doing our best to write tunes you like! -chris
Your solo section is unreal chris, honestly. Your best work. What are you even doing in that arpeggio section thats like the one part of the song i couldnt learn
hopefully someday. i tried to get him to write an entire song for the new album, but I finished the album so fast he dedicated all his practice time to learning the material. our newest album is our most challenging to date, its pretty nuts! so we're both practicing our butts off! we enter the studio Jan 2! -chris
I love you guys so much. You all inspired me to pick up the guitar again. Long live Scale The sUMMIT. Come to Edmonton Alberta!
You guys give me hope for the future of music.
It's not even easy to play such clean, precise, strong melody, even at a slow tempo. Bends gotta be right and accurate, and that's something to work out.
This band is the greatest thing to happen to music. The solo makes my soul dance!
"Whales" (HD)
when did 480p constitute HD?
@cloud041089 we playing along to the album, it has the live guitar tracks mixed in. you can hear the pick attacks and what not, especially on the clean sections. and then the distortion parts all sound quad tracked, haha.
I must say I love the video of this. I love the way the cameras are on each guitarist. Fantastic song. I love the solo parts too. Cheers.
i cant get enough of that intro!
the jam that starts at 2:06 is brutal.
Can't get over that part eh its gorgeous
What even are those chords?!?
I can't believe the awesomeness and beauty of this music. Is just perfect songwriting.
@zeugirdorsocram thanks a lot dude, appreciate that! we're excited about all of the touring, its many years of hard work to finally really get things going! -chris
I am still amazed at how smoth you guys play. When I seen sts in little rock, first time ever hearing there Music I was just, speechless. It inspired me to try new things on the side of music
It was amazing getting to see you guys in Iowa City the other day, seriously just a mindblowing show alltogether.
solos are just masterpiece
Absolutely flawless, and awesome guitar Chris!
You guys are the reason I picked the guitar back up after I got stuck in a rut for 5 months. Your intense two handed yet melodic approach really opened my eyes to what music should sound like. I owe you guys my musical life!!! Thank you!
The solo to this song makes me so happy! How you guys make it look so simple just proves what talented and imaginative musicians you guys are!
You guys are great. So expressive.
The transition into the solo is out of this world.
Some day I'll be able to compose something epic like this.
Watching a new video from you guys is always the highlight of my day! I hope you come back to Edmonton because I'll definetly be going!
This music is just majestic, keep going guys and Good Luck.
Only you guys could make this look so easy.
Man everything about this band is absolutely perfect
This is just fantastic. And it couldn't have come at a better time, I just got a 7 string and have been looking for some 7 string bands. I will be picking up the book for this album and it's just going to be y'all, born of osiris, and after the burial all day long
You guys never cease to amaze me.
these guys and the band "animals as leaders" are awesome! you can tell scale the summit definitely has influence from animals as leaders. and for those of you who like this band and havent heard of the band "animals as leaders" i definitely suggest checkin them out! they are amazing!!!!!!!
Amazing. I love how much production went into this video
@scalethesummit i like that, it really gives the song a character and builds up to the next section
this is so inspiring for players!!! i wanna shred like this so bad!!! thanks for the awesome music guys!!!!
god those tapped harmonics at 5:00 are just beautiful
Best song on the new album for sure. This song is just such an emotional rollercoaster. Absolutely love it.
i bought yalls tab book for the collective and before this year i never did solos or the ones i played were very bad. i learned my blues boxes and learned some of your solos and now i can solo very well! ive taken a lot of technique from your solos such as the quick hammer on and pulloff scale run things.(like 6 notes at a time)
yooo i met these guys at the white rabbit in san antonio and got em to sign my shirt lol. real humble n the best performance there! i bought all their albums instead of illegally downloading em like everyone else! ya ll have a fan for life!!! just wish i was around for monument's tour, but this shit just gets better n better. love the new album guys
For me...this is the epitome of musical genius!
I saw you guys open for DT in Vegas...i love what you do, but every time I hear something new...I am blown away all over again. Please keep it up!
Thank you for the magic you share with us mortals...
i wish more bands did this kind of stuff, thanks
The way the guitar mimics the sound of whale calls at the end of the song practically brings tears to my fucking eyes.
Beautiful song, completely and totally.
This is the definition of pretty music
When both guitar players are lead guitarists, the possibilities are amazing!
One of my favorite Songs....ever !!! Born 1964...Love Heiko
reason i ordered my six string bass, very inspiring music, thanks guys :)
appreciate that! -chris
omg this song is so amazing and i love it so suthing wow love it love love love it
i saw you guys on the 19th in san antonio! travis gave me his pick when they were done! bought me a penguins in flight shirt. and it was such a long set it was awesome. I apologize that the venue wasnt packed san antonio is full of people that are just into "hardcore" music. just wanna let yall know it was the best show i ever been to cause yalls music is just pure beauty, i listen to it everyday and both of you are inspirations, much love guys! =) cant wait to heat what the future has in store.
supposed to have had one this month but it got postponed sadly until the next record! oh well, means you guys get the new material live now!
The theme before the solos is so sweet and fun to play. Definitely my favourite section on the album!
We love you too!
This was really helpful to see the notes and fingers. You guys rock!
Work of art, Amazing
You Guys are amazing! :) cant stop listening to you guys music. There is so much feeling and emotion that i get everytime i listen to the beautiful sound of the guitars in y'alls music. Never stop making music. :)
Travis' solo - best on the album.
travis solo is so amazing
Cheers from Brazil!!!!
@Sickz666 you'll have plenty of stuff to play! all the solos are mostly 6 string only anyway. appreciate all the support of our band! -Chris
thanks a lot, amazon, itunes, etc... everywhere where music is sold via download.
Cool. ...and you're welcome for the purchase. Thank YOU guys for putting that stuff out there. I'm so ready for my stuff. I may have to slap my mailman for not getting here sooner when he gets here.
You guys are among the most elite of musicians in my book. I keep watching and listening and it is all so inspiring. I play myself, and have grown so much thanks to a lot of your work. Keep going.
That Axe Fx tone is so good man. If only i had the money..
They are on their next tour with Intronauts. The Toronto date is June 18th
Travis's solo here is my favorite part of The Collective. Keep it up guys
You guys are inspirational !!
Where were you all my life!? That was amazing!!!, guys keep the good work, I really enjoyed this!!!
A new fan of yours
havent got it yet! cant wait though!
Always had this fantasy of being a ufc fighter with this song as my entrance music. Especially when 2:07 comes up 🔥🔥🔥
Beautiful, I enjoyed listening a lot...
@GABSJR3 Thanks man, its made in the Fractal axe fx. Its has delay, mtd, reverb, chorus, autoswell, and I think thats it.
the magicalness of that last part just made my mind explode. good job guys!
I absolutely love Travis' solo in this!
I don't think I ever thanked you guys for accepting my video as a response, so yeah, thank you :)
and you are awesome :D
It's really great to see you guys interact with your fans like this. Great video, hope to see more like it!
OUTSTANDING!
This was the song that made me discover your music, still one of my favorites. I id just order both of your tablature books and your (chris) technique book. Should be here next week. :)
Only problem i have is that i play a 6 string. ;) I´ll just have to play some parts and octave higher, :)
Keep making music, cause your music is some of the most beautiful ever!
thats awesome to hear! thanks for all the support! -chris
I'm definitely a fan for life. Your discipline is incredible and it shines through in your form. Both of your finger movements are so controlled and tight. I'm so glad you guys are getting great tours and attention.
You guys have turned into one of my favorite bands in under 24 hours.
@martay89 Thanks a lot dude! We'll be back in San Antonio on tour with Protest The Hero on Dec 12th at the White Rabbit again, hope to see you there! -Chris
