Got another acoustic lead guitar lesson for you. This week's lesson is a David Rawlings style lead on acoustic (could be played on electric as well). Hope you enjoy :) #davidrawlings #daverawlings #guitarlesson
Yes, Dave places mostly in G, but does play also in C frequently. And you're right, he plays almost exclusively with a pick, but he is a really nice cross-picker. Maybe not quite at the level of Tony Rice, but he plays with a ton of feeling and makes great use of the open strings. One of my favorite players!
@Brian Hanson yes he plays wonderful melodies that really grabs the attention of the listener. More so if you play the guitar and I assume you do. They really put this genre of music back where it belongs.
I listened to your song. It 's really sweet and romantic to listen to when you want some peace and relaxation. Thanks to the tutorial, as always clear and perfect.
What's the theory behind the lead notes is this major scale pentatonic scales chord arpeggios or what? I've always wondered how Rawlings lead stuff actually works theoretically... If anyone has heard the milk carton kids the lead guitar player also uses a similar style but I don't know how to replicate it
I love your video:s.. One thing if possible. Before you teach a lesson, could you play an open E string so we may stop the lesson and tune to your guitar? Other than that I think your lesson are really the best! I have really learned a lot from you! Thank You very much!
@artistde bellacicco - it's an Alvarez MPA70

This is really nice.. but you wouldnt think of hitting the A (3rd of F) over F?
cool
OH MY GOD this sounds exactly like those route songs from Pokémon!!!!
Open A over an F chord isn’t that crazy as it’s the 3rd of F
Sounds like Only One And Only. Rawlings likes to play in G.
That is a funny looking piano!
No it's not, it's totally normal!
I think Rawlings just uses a pick.
