Wish I had money would buy your classes but the little I get from your videos really takes me far.iwill watch and like all of them at least I appreciate your work
For concepts, clarity and usefulness, this is probably the best guitar lesson I've seen online. A lesson that gets right to the point-- in fact, more than several points. Really nice.
NOW THATS EXACTLY WHAT I was looking for ---moving from a C major triad ---into a Minor pentatonic scale lick for soloing - Thankyou so much ---finally I have it ---well done !
Just the right lesson for me. I’m exploring triads at the moment. So much stuff in 17 minutes. I‘m gonna spend hours and hours with it. Great work, thanks, Brian!
Thanks, Brian. A lot of connections have become clear to me the last couple months since joining up with you. After years of floundering Im finally getting a handle on the fretboard.
I didn't learn this concept from this video, bit i did learn it from you. This concept is one of the things that has most impacted my playing. You are the best in UA-cam at teaching guitar.
It's always a pleasure to go back and re-watch your videos. I've really learned a lot from them. I've recently begun dabbling in beginning jazz guitar and it is made simpler due to what I've learned from your videos such as this one. I may never really be a jazz player but it doesn't matter. It's all about the journey! Thanks, Brian!
JUST love those "on screen "chord diagrams ----that clearly show the various (some I never knew) C chord triads --as you play them -- well done --it helps enormously ----thankyou so much !
Why is it that I have watched a billion video lessons on playing scales and modes (most of them produce by very competent Players!) but this is one of the VERY few that actually gets me "up and running" in a practical manner, where I can play like I know what I am doing?!? Thanks Brian!
There is a big realization here (for some time now) - I should have been working on this kind of basic training/playing a long time ago. A lot of what you pass along with your channel is immediately available to have some fun with in the process of learning. It has taken me a while but this channel is one of what I have managed to thin my lesson searches down to. Another excellent session, thanks.
"Ah ha!" moments seem to have become increasingly rare for me these days, so I am massively grateful for you today sir! I feel like some new connective tissues have formed with CAGED for me now - I can't wait to go practice. Thank you!
Brilliant lesson, joining the dots for me and very improv friendly, love the way you illustrate the major pentatonic blues with triads and joining licks
Thankyou Brian , the tip re “hearing “ the scale is great . I’ve practised in the past and not doing this locking stage which again became an “aha’’ moment.🇦🇺scott
Excellent lesson Brian! This one really resonated with me, and was exactly some of the pieces I needed put together as a total package. I kinda knew some of this, but didn't really grasp all the pieces, but you explained everything so well, and even showed ways to practice the ideas, that this made everything sync up and really hit home. Thank you.
This is an amazing lesson. Need lots more Triad embellishment lessons. And they must contain intervals, music theory. So many are scared to use music theory in their lessons. It's like if they do, no one will watch. They just say, hammer here, or put your finger here, without the "why" to do it. (Just subscribed.)
Perfect timing for this lesson! Over the weekend I jammed with 3 friends. I am intermediate and they were all quite accomplished. Sometimes I played only the low E string on the correct fret in order to keep up.
I thought it was helpful to think of Major pentatonic as 12356. Minor pentatonic: 13457. Major scale there’s a half step between 3,4/7,1. Minor: 2,3/5,6. Mixo: 3,4/6,7. For me, I find it incredibly easier to remember scales and modes by their half steps.
Damn! A real lightbulb moment - I've always looked at the chord shapes on the front of the patterns - not at the back of them! I've got to go and think about this for a long time; it's already making me think about soloing slightly differently... and right now - I've realised I can go backwards as well - so much fun to be had out of this especially when I start playing with this idea on some simple folk songs (to start with)!
Wow. This was great, Brian--and easy! I was able to play the tune right after you played it for us. Now I'll practice by making up my own tunes using the scale with other chords, using that same triad shape. The only thing is, now i have to figure out the other Mixolydian shapes that go with other chord triads. I do remember one that you taught us that goes with the E shape. I guess I'll sound it out, cuz now i know how to find mixolydian easily. Just flat the 7th. Feels good to get though a lesson and feel like it was only a review! That means I'm learning!
All your videos are well done and helpful. However, this one is probably the most helpful one I’ve seen. I really like the “anchor” of the triad - then connecting the other things to it. Thank You!
Super lesson to improvise with all the pieces given in a kit form. All we have to do is assemble it together with the variables. Not only a given arrangement to use but some examples within from the 6.50 mark are also handy to replicate.
Brian, just want to say thanks for all these lessons. I have been playing for a long time and while I have been able to fake my way through things, I've always sort of felt like a fake lol. You have a way that works for me. The cost of a yearly subscription (which I have signed up for by the way), is peanuts compared to a few in person lessons!! Thanks again, I have drank the cool aide :)
Wow, wow and wow....Zabardast, cheers from Canadà.......I'm glad in my old age I have started to play Raags.....on my guitar...all makes sense now Brian....and it sounds wonderful and melodious....
i like this idea of the tirad as the center so to speak of the pentatonic. most lessons focus on root root root but i can 'see' the scale and the related chords better this way. thanks!
Wish I had money would buy your classes but the little I get from your videos really takes me far.iwill watch and like all of them at least I appreciate your work
once again i will just comment that this man is the goat
Triads, the unsung hero's of the fret board. Wonderful lesson.
For concepts, clarity and usefulness, this is probably the best guitar lesson I've seen online. A lesson that gets right to the point-- in fact, more than several points. Really nice.
always learn something or make a connection when watching your lessons. This is another gem. Many Thanks
Soooo valuable. I’ve been a premium member of yours for many years and I have never regretted it. Thanks
NOW THATS EXACTLY WHAT I was looking for ---moving from a C major triad ---into a Minor pentatonic scale lick for soloing -

Thank you Brian! This is definitely one of the top 10 guitar lessons that I've watched on the internet. 👍🏾👍🏼🎯

I always say it: these microlessons are huge, there are amazing takeaways to be had from these! Many thanks, Brian!
Gold mine of content! Brand new member of Active Melody. Well worth it. Thanks again Brian!
Thanks, Brian. A lot of connections have become clear to me the last couple months since joining up with you. After years of floundering Im finally getting a handle on the fretboard.
One of best and most useful lesson I've ever seen on UA-cam...and I've seen a lot! Well done Sir, that changes everything
Great lesson ! Seriously, it's rare to get online tips explain in a way that you can use it immediately. I've learned a lot in this video. Thanks.
I didn't learn this concept from this video, bit i did learn it from you. This concept is one of the things that has most impacted my playing. You are the best in UA-cam at teaching guitar.
Brilliant! There’s a tonne of really valuable information here; So well and clearly taught, thank you!
Man ! You re a dear pedagogue , excellent teaching without any blablabla directly the essence of it , thousand thanks ! +1 follow

You are one hell of a fantastic teacher. Thanks for opening my eyes to this.
I absolutely loved this Brian ❤️🙏🇺🇸
Brian
I really appreciate your micro lessons. A lot of info to take in. Triads are so valuable and easier to play many times, than a full chord!
"Ah ha!" moments seem to have become increasingly rare for me these days, so I am massively grateful for you today sir! I feel like some new connective tissues have formed with CAGED for me now - I can't wait to go practice. Thank you!

Phenomenal and so logical to follow. Visuals and diagrams are so helpful in understanding and REMEMBERING these topics. Much appreciated.

Dude you are FREAKING AWESOME!
SHINING the LIGHT & Making it Comprehensible🎯

another great lesson Brian, thank you. I find these micro lessons to be so informative and I like that I can put them to practice right away.
Perfect lesson for me at the moment. Love learning these tricks and connections from one chord shape.
Your lessons are excellent.
Holy cow Light bulbs were goin off left and right,,,that opened up all kind of creative thoughts and avenues, very cool 😎 brother.
Wow wow wow, so much packed into a short lesson. You never disappoint. I have learned so much since going premium. Thanks

1 more month i get my I DELL custom tele...What a nice guy! and these are great lessons, Brian....You rock bud!
Once again, another great lesson. For some reason, this one stuck even more than others.

I agree…and also noting where the 1 1/2 step jumps are (related to the half step locations, of course)
That's good--to learn scales as intervals. If your can actually hear the intervals, that's even better...IMO!
THOSE " WHITE " CHORD DIAGRAMS --YOU PROJECT ON SCREEN NEXT TO YOU---ARE BRILLIANT AND CLEAR---THANKYOU
Damn! A real lightbulb moment - I've always looked at the chord shapes on the front of the patterns - not at the back of them! Beautiful, thanks Brian!
Great lesson Brian. Thank you! More of this type of stuff would be great. Expand on the more efficient idea of 1,4,5 progression.
All your videos are well done and helpful. However, this one is probably the most helpful one I’ve seen. I really like the “anchor” of the triad - then connecting the other things to it. Thank You!
love the Buddy Holly glasses Brian.. Really enjoyed your lesson as i do with all of them. Still a long life member.. Thanks for your inspiration.

Awesome video as usual Brian! Glad I tuned in!
This really helped me understand EP173. Thanks for the hard work Brian.
Triads really open up a lot of doors. Great lesson.
I wish I could afford to pay you back for everything you have taught me. Hopefully one day I can. Thanks as always.
Brian, just want to say thanks for all these lessons. I have been playing for a long time and while I have been able to fake my way through things, I've always sort of felt like a fake lol. Fabulous lesson Brian you teach me so much!

Love the connections, great lesson, Brian!
Unreal video mate! You explain this so clearly. Would love to see more videos based on other triad positions and linking it scales. Thank you so much!
Good video 👍. Thanks Brian 🙂
Amazing lesson!!! So practical/useful! You lay it out so well!
That's huge! Great summation!!
Just incredible lesson Brian.
Wonderful stuff ….. love realising how it all glues together. Thank you so much.
This was a very useful lesson. Thanks for posting. It really helped me visualize the neck.
i like this idea of the tirad as the center so to speak of the pentatonic. most lessons focus on root root root but i can 'see' the scale and the related chords better this way. thanks!
your lessons are so wonderful. i think you could create a melody with a guitar with only one string ! thank you so much !
Brian Thank you for what you do..This is soooo helpful and all off of that Cowboy chord A shape.A lot can be done with just that triad....
Great stuff. Im trying to explore moving past the pentatonic boxes and this is a great start. Thanks.
Great work Brian!! Super clear lesson. I would love a lesson on the same concept but applied to a minor triad
Brilliant lesson Brian
