never seen this before. Good interesting programme. Depicts a lot of how things were then. it shows the old buildings starting to be knocked down as they were all over the country before they started building new estates. The original early 70s reggae too. A good time piece to depict how things were. p.s a young Angela Bruce looked really good. Good actress.

Yes, indeed, this is a rare gem from a time when the working class, as well as the first generation of West Indians and Africans had it rough. Nice to see Paul (born: Patrick in 1951 in Toxteth) Barber in this first tv role. I remember the Toxteth Riots of 1981, which was sparked by economic depression, & the divide between professionals & working class/unemployed. It's certainly happening today, so many only just survive, with a tent if they're lucky, especially in Bristol, Swindon in fact any major city or town.
@@HookBeak_66 It was also caused by police racism with the Sus Law. The Sus Law was based on the Victorian Vagrancy Act. It means that the police can stop and search anybody that are suspicious of crime and probably get arrested.
In the '70's, Liverpool was as run down as hell. Everywhere was grim, literally. Having been born and bred in the city, I saw Liverpool, when it was down on its knees - especially areas like Toxteth. But, in saying that, there were some right characters within Toxteth back then. Now, they are all gone.
There used to be a TV program here in Scotland called stookie it was about a young nerdowell from Glasgow who had a thing for headbutting people hence the name stookie I've looked everywhere for it for years never been able find it does anyone else remember it
