Miyazaki Beef & Abalone Teppanyaki - Food in Japan

  • The marbling level of Miyazaki beef in this Teppanyaki restaurant in Osaka is quite a surprise. Beside that there is a choice between two types of Abalone, an imported Korean type of 125g and the domestic Japanese black Abalone with about 250g. I went for the local sea snail. Abalone has been seen as a luxury food in Japan for thousands of years, and is often used for wedding celebrations.

Just gonna quickly say, I'm as carnivorous as they come; I love meat and seafood and unlike many people these days, I hunt and fish for my dinner on occasion.
However, I have a real issue with cooking an animal alive (invertebrate or otherwise). There's no need for it and it's unduly cruel. Incidentally, lobsters (to offer a comparison) are not meant to be boiled alive. They should be killed with a blade cleanly before cooking.

it's not that the creature was cooked alive because they don't know how to kill it. It has to do with the pleasure of watching fresh animal being cooked/fried alive. They even cook live fish that is very easy to kill. Sometimes they even serve live fish that is half fried with a lot of garnishing. it is not that they don't have a way to kill it but it is merely a thing of visual satisfaction. I would suggest for the least pain fast freezing those in the freezer is a better way to kill.

They both gained satisfaction from doing this. Watching someone ate your effort of making something perfect is beyond satisfaction. Waiting patiently for your food to be perfectly cooked is beyond satisfaction.

@@Nicken0o0 Big facts. When I make food for myself and my lover, or maybe some friends, or my family, watching them try something new they've never tried before and love it brings me so much happiness and joy. And it makes them happy, watching their new favorite foods get cooked to perfection in the future. It's wonderful. It's not just the food, it's the experience for both parties. It's so fulfilling. Hell, if I were a teppenyaki chef, I'd charge less so I could make a decent living and afford food supplies to keep cooking. People become chefs because they love to cook.

Ugh, I'm never ordering Wagyu beef ever again. I ordered one when I went to Vegas and it was not this. It wasn't even remotely similar. I paid a lot of money and when the stupid steak came out, there was a chunk of fat on the edge. I should have sent it back but I just freaking ate it like a dummy. Never again, unless I can see it raw first, I'm not falling for it.

you say that as if its a bad thing lol, when you have quality meat, the meat is already tender enough, no need for marbeling dry aging or any other hipster stupid shit.
and the fat enances the flavor, if you cut the fat before you cook, you have a tasteless peace of meat, and since some people like to eat that fat, most places just leave it there, because any toddler is smart enough to cut it off if they dont want to eat it.

There are only a few locations in the united states that are certified waygu beef. Gotta research before you order it, you will 99% usually know ahead of time that the place you are going serves real Waygu.
