No problem. Happy to hear that you found this video helpful. It’s a very common mechanism for a trunk, so it’s very likely that the trunk on your Dodge Stratus functions the same way. Good luck 👍
Odd the Honda diagram shows the 74871 (R) installing the opposite of how you did it. That is, it hooks on the right passenger and then driver side its put into that torsion clip using pliers or vice grips
I ordered these parts and installed the springs, but the trunk still falls down without offering any resistance. I am not sure where installation went wrong. Parts that I ordered for 2012: Honda Clip Trunk Opener Spring 74873-TA0-003 SPRING, L. TRUNK OPENER 74872-TA0-G00 SPRING, R. TRUNK OPENER 74871-TA0-G00 What does it costs to get this fixed by Honda service center ?
I’m not really what could be the problem. I would recommend looking over to see if everything was installed correctly. Maybe the torsion bars you purchased have a defect. I’ve replaced those bars twice on the same car, and each time the result was a little different. The second time I replaced them it doesn’t hold up the trunk as well as when I replaced them the first time. Maybe you can exchange those bars for a new set and see if it makes any difference. I hope you get it fixed. Best!
Thanks for the super helpful video. Something similar is happening in my 2005 Toyota Camry (too many things in the trunk as well). Going to try out your fix soon
No problem. I’m happy to hear you found it helpful. I much prefer a trunk with struts, it doesn’t take extra space and holds the trunk up much better. Good luck with the fix. Let me know how it went. Best. 👍
Thanks for the video. When you install the bar, do you have the trunk fully Open or Close for easier installation? I am fearing if I did it wrong, I might bust my new bars again. Your advise is appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Very helpful and appreciate your putting this video together. My trucks spring broke in the exact same way as yours did!
Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad to hear you found this video helpful. It’s really not fun when the trunk falls down on my head. 🤕
I just fixed my Accord's trunk and thanks to your suggestion to use vice grips it was not hard at all to do. Thanks!!
I’m glad to hear that you found this video useful and that you have fixed your trunk. 👍 Well done
Honda just quoted $500 to put this in for us 😂. Thank you
No problem! Wow, that is a lot. A good reason to replace it yourself. 🙂
Thanks for this video. Picking the same bar and clip up from Honda dealership this week to install. They always break.
I agree. This was the second time I had to replace them.
thanks for the video!! Gonna try to fix mines asap!
Thanks for doing this. Useful information. I have a Dodge Stratus but it looks like a similar setup.

*HONDA MAKES A SPECIFIC TOOL TO INSTALL TORSION BARS IN TRUNK. GLAD SEE ANOTHER WAY. ALSO HEARD USE HUGE CHANNEL LOCKS*
Use the hammer technique in the video. It works nice quick and easy. Thank you for this video.
No problem. Great to know that it works for you as well. 👍
thanks super helpful!!! mine snapped off
Happy to hear that you found it helpful. Same thing happened to me… twice. 🙂

That’s interesting. I guess there’s different ways to do it. Thanks for sharing this.

Hello Sir, does it matter which bar I should install first and which go to the top/bottom of the bar clip?
I think they’re both the same.
@@carkingspot ic thx
No problem. 👍
No problem
Hello what do you call that white thingy to hold the two spring bar?
I believe it’s called “trunk torsion bar clip” or “trunk lid spring clip”. Are you having the same issue with your trunk?
@@carkingspot because these week its been very hot in california and i park my car outside for a week.
Thanks for the video. When you install the bar, do you have the trunk fully Open or Close for easier installation? I am fearing if I did it wrong, I might bust my new bars again. Your advise is appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Not a problem at all. I did it with the trunk fully open. Good luck 👍
What is the part name sir? And was it applicable to my honda civic gen 10 too?
It’s called a trunk opener spring or torsion bar. I don’t know if it would be the same dimension for Civic also.
No.
How can you order this part?
I bought it from my local Honda dealership.
I'm having the issues with my 2010 accord trunk
I hope this video helps you fix your trunk. Let me know. Good luck 🍀
Do you have parts number and links
Where did you buy the bars from ?
I bought the torsion bars and that plastic clip from a Honda dealership. It ended up being about $48 total.
extremely helpful remarks to help me out to re-install my tension bars!!
I’m happy to hear that you found the video useful. Thank you 🙏
Is this easy to install?
It was pretty easy. I think the hardest part for me was bending one end of the torsion bar into its position.
sorry where did you buy that part
I bought it from a local Honda dealer. For both torsion bars and the plastic clip it came out to be $48. Having the same issue with your trunk?
