Sadao Watanabe and Carlos Santana, despite the difference in genre and instruments they play, they seem to me to share the essential parts of instrumental music. 1) They both write beautiful pieces. 2) They both play very melodically while there are so many soloists who sound like practising scales. 3) They both make unique/great tones and intonations with their instruments. So, when they play together on suitable materials, they sound like no other.
really, jimi hendrix isn't respected by the jazz community? whatever has roots and musicality in it shares a language with the jazz community.....steely dan, sting, and on and on! santana is rooted in afro-latin music...
Santana made his name 'because' he is a top guitarist! He is also the influential inspiration behind many contemporary guitarists. If he really sucked as a guitarist Sadao would hardly be playing with him and featuring is this track. They are both top rated musicians.
For quite long time I was listening only to this one. The music captures you and there is no escape...Thanks guys. I am glad you like it. This only shows your nice musical taste!
AWESOME!!!!!!!! Music to touch the Soul........Thank you for the post........Such a Shame about the other videos of Santana/Watanabe taken off..like Mandela......WHY....?????....WHY...????
An opinion is an opinion. I would personally listen to Santana, then most crap out there. He was named a guitar god for a reason, your comment is so very un-jazz. so as the song says, Chill Out.
"Rock is a pool, jazz is a whole ocean" Carlos Santana.🎸🎵

ahhhhhhh two of my favourite artists sharing the stage so beautifully and intimately with their powerful raw expressions thank u
Santana is probably the only rock band who is also respected in the jazz community.
and you hear more than rock in this band, yes?

This is the best instrumental sound I heard on here by 2 genius musicians.
