Ahh, my favorite Nevermore song. Now you need to do the "sequel" to this song - Sentient 6. RIP Warrel Dane.

You could list all their songs. They don't have any bad ones. EDIT: Though I do think "Poison God Machine" is very relevant to the current times.

This is Jonathan Melton I forgot the password to my old account. I'm glad you finally reacted to another Nevermore song. I was the one who requested your first Nevermore reaction. You should react to the sequel to this song, Sentient 6; in which the protagonist AI is created and contemplates its existence. :D

This show in the Zeche Bochum was crazy. The band was prepared so well and the live sound was really amazing due to a long soundcheck on the day before. Crazy that it’s almost 14 years ago.

@@cirithungol666 It was so good, that there was only this planed recording (postponed) Show and not a recording while touring.
Seen many Nevermore Gigs with a really bad Sound but this time everything was perfect (and i was there).

    RIP Warrel Dane...
This song and Sentient 6 seem to be about not so much about what a technological achievement A.I. would be, but about what a completely rational intelligence(supposedly this AI machine) would perceive. Religion, dreaming, soul, heaven. All of these things contain something irrational something that logic does not allow to assert. If one has understanding similar to positivism, then one cannot perceive metaphysics as anything but poetry, nonsense and irrational. So this machine with a simplified understanding of the world would fail to understand humans, it would not perceive same kind of spiritual dimension as some humans do.
To me this is about the tragedy of non-spiritual existence. If there is nothing beyond the tangible, empirical reality, then existence could very easily be perceived as worthless. Warrel Dane was outspoken against religion and seven tongues of divine for a reason... Perception of divinity, belief in such a thing is hard to ground in the empirical data and logic. If consciousness is just perception of data and processing of that perception powered by an interpretative algorithm, then AI is not inconceivable and so is the spiritless world.
"Innocence is lost. A new age begun. When I will awaken the world will never be the same" - AI seen to be a proof of the fact that humans are not so metaphysical, not so wonderful and God-made.
Thank you for reading. Have a nice day!

I love the band Sanctuary big time which was the first band that Warrel Dane and Jim Sheppard were in before they formed Nevermore. Warrel Dane actually got Sanctuary back together and did some touring and a new studio album before he passed away. I actually love Sanctuary more than Nevermore, but I am a huge Thrash Metal fan. Nevermore is a phenomenal band also. Warrel Dane is easily one of the greatest lead singers ever. It is insane how powerful his singing was especially on Sanctuary's first studio album Refuge Denied. Rest In Peace Warrel You are most definitely missed.

Jeff Loomis is insanely talented not just as a guitarist, but also as a songwriter. I agree with what many people have said, listen to the album "Dreaming Neon Black" which is a concept album and has some of their best songs.

Liked the perspective of Vin on how science evolve and that in a sense contradicts the possibility of AI, but I think there is a crack in that, that is the fact that at the same time and space that science evolve so it does the human. So there is a great gasp in expecting something. Maybe for a believer is all clear...

It's about fucking time you get around to Nevermore! Man, the guitar work of Jeff Loomis continues to amaze me even after listening to them for years. I'd have recommended "The River Dragon Has Come" as a first listen, but this one is heavy as fuck and I'm happy that it gave you something interesting to talk about.
I'm just gonna throw my suggestions in here as usual. These are songs that will give you something to talk about. I'm sure none of them will disappoint you!
    Band: Demon Hunter
    Song: Cross to Bear
Demon Hunter is my favorite Metal band and I think you need to revisit them, especially since you loved the last heavy song you did. This song is one of their most aggressive and I think the premise is quite interesting. The vocalist said it's about how people use the expression "it's my cross to bear" and that he hates how people use it so lightly without fully understanding the weight of it.
    Band: Exodus
    Song: Sealed With a Fist
It's about domestic abuse and it's my personal favorite by them. It's got groove and the lyrics are cleverly written. It always puts a smile on my face because it has a happy ending of sorts.
    Band: Lamb of God
    Song: Embers
This one, based on my understanding, is about the loss of a newborn. I read an article that had a statement from the guitarist saying it was about his daughter. It's beautiful, tragic, and hopeful at the same time.
    Band: Iced Earth
    Song: Damien
It's about, well, the son of the Devil. Horror Show was an album about different horror icons and legends like Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolfman, and Damien. This song is particularly memorable because of its opening bass line, the choir that sings, the crushing riffs, and the "colorful" words against Christ used in Damien's perspective. It's an epic song and I'm morbidly curious to see the looks on your faces after hearing certain lines.

I don't think the cognition would change anything in the abortion debate. I'll even grant the pro-life side of the debate that they are fully functioning humans. My argument is this - So what? We live in a legal system which has exceptions for justifiable homicides and as it is written on the books abortion is justifiable. For you to make an argument that it is not justifiable, you have to make an argument for not just both intent of the law and intent of the person having the abortion, but you'd also have to that the fetus is not a threat to the mother despite the fact that it actively makes her ill and removes her resources. It being the death of a human literally does not matter.

That you speak of the "child in the womb."
This is going to shock some ..
Especially hard core Nevermore fans ..
Listen to the title track of The Obsidian Conspiracy ..
    I mean, listen to Dane's lyrics ..
TGE was not Dane's favorite of choice ..
TOC was tailored specifically for Dane's vocals / lyrics by Loomis himself (vs. TGE) ..
Dane was well known for his nihilism ..
Do the lyrics / them of TOC (final track) sound nihilistic to you?
I offer my lyric video for review ..
