- I made a video going over some of the most apparent and easiest to diagnose problems on an e36. These are some things to look for when buying your e36 and are usually good indicators as to the true condition of your car and how it was maintained by the previous owner.

nice audio
😂😂😂
Pardon?
What audio
yep replace the whole cooling system, but don't replace with oem,get all metal and you won't have to worry about cracking plastic down the road.
radiator, water pump, thermostat, fan clutch and new hoses and belts.Do it all at once and you'll save $
And never run a BMW hot just to get a bit farther down the road, you'll warp the aluminum heads and then you've lost an engine.
My mate has owned two 92 e36s 325i manuals and still has his second and never had any of these issues with 325000km on his current the main ones he has had is rocker cover gasket, oil housing gasket, brake light switch and clutch slave cly and his still fires up as soon as the key is turned cooling system can be a issue but yet to experience it but contry of manufacture does make a difference
"its a really easy fix, but its a real pain in there ass to do" I love when my brain gains an extra chromosome
Your dna is the one with chromosomes
🤣🤣🤣🤣
You forgot to mention rust in jack points, i have two E36s, and both have had major rust in the jack points.
Is that a clothes dryer hose? That things works great for the home appliance also.
Wtf is that air intake lol??
Thats the hose they use to vent the Clothes Drier in your house..lol. Or could be a double insulated stove pipe. Both would work ok butt damn....
I HAD THIS QUESTION TOO
U know he's pushin 450hp outta that N/A non vanos M50.
ATTENTION READER! This BMW E36 M50 does has Vanos. It’s a single Vanos for the M50B25 engine. 1:29
Wrong. M50B25TU (Techincal Update) that was made post late 1992 has VANOS. His does not. Hint: No VANOS hump on the intake cam side on the front of the valve cover. Its a dead giveaway and is what you look for to see if it was VANOS or not.
i wireless mic would go a long way
my favorite car but scared to death to get into the repair history after purchase...anyone know a good video or personal experience you documented?
I maximize volume 100% 😁

HELLO GREETINGS FROM COLOMBIA, I HAVE A BMW E36 325I (6 CYLINDERS) I WANT TO KNOW A BUTTON THAT HAS ON THE BACK WHERE YOU INSERT THE KEY TO TURN IT ON, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S FOR, PLEASE HELP !!!
Where is this button, on the back like trunk or back seat?
I'm seeing a 1,8L 4 cilinder e36 with 133.000 km on it tomorrow. If this video helps me to decide NOT to buy the car, I will come back and like it
How’d it go
@@qmarq tnx for asking man, bought it. I missed a cracked airflow bit, 58 euros to fix, but other than that, no problems. By now I lowered it, bought some style 32's and I have angel lights ready to go on there
@@LynxStatic yo thats sick! post some clips of it maybe! and are you looking forward to sliding it around in the winter?
im scouting myself an e36 for the winter.. right now there's a 320i which has been already lowered and has angel eyes and seems like pretty taken care of. 270k km @ 2.5k euros tho.. BUT it has that LSD diff. so idk. If I decide I wanna get it, I need to do it right now or else it's gonna get sold for sure. there's not many e36's around in solid shape.
@@qmarq sliding around in winter is the same as it is in summer for me haha, hardly any snow here ever. But no, its my daily as well and I like to keep her clean the best I can
@@LynxStatic where ya located at? I see you speak in euros so must be in europe, right? all europe gets snow... at least for a bit haha
I have an e46 325xi lowered right not. Getting an e46 M3 in two months
Check this ,check that , check your freaking tires there bald!😂

Never buy one with timing belt buy one with timing chain
Lol that’s not how it works btw
@@Lidwallymob your brain doesnt work any way at all
My rear shocks are messed up I need to replace them my rear right
You did not mention famous nikasil issue of BMW engines.
From what I understand the nikasil issue affected the m52 engines exclusively. Basically it affected all aluminium block engines from the e36. The m50 like in this car is a cast iron block with an aluminum head. Great point you brought up!
I got you point. Wiki tells that nikasil issue affected M52 as well as M60 engines.
And one more thing: would you prefer M50 to M54 engine with similar displacement and power? My initial impression is that they are almost the same engines with the only difference being double VANOS on M54.
Precisely! They are very similar in terms of their characteristics. M54 maybe because it's a more modern engine but the m50s are pretty bulletproof.
Nice audio
Sounds like you bought a lemon
Move the camera closer to ypu if you wont get a mic i couldnt hear shit
Hey so I have a e46 and the power steering reservoir sweats does the e36 not do that?
Half the shit you mentioned is things you check on ANY car....
Ok? So they still apply to this lol
Alternator hose?
The alternator in a 36 is cooled by piped water supply from the radiator.
@@michaelopere5424 Water pipe lol, its plastic ducting that supplies air from the front shroud
@@placeholdername3206 I may be wrong, though water always oozes out whenever i disconnect them from my car.
@@michaelopere5424trust me, its an air duct
@@placeholdername3206 does the air flow cool the alternator?
horrible audio
is that an auto trans yuck
look out for brakes - ? this is basic, go buy a toyota.
I would NOT buy A BMW from this guy!!!! 😂😂😂😂 can't afford proper replacement parts 😅😅😅😅
Alternator hose?
Alternators on the inline 6 BMW's are air cooled. Theres ducting from the fan shroud in the front onto the alternator. Not an actual hose tho, more like some plastic ducting.
