    As usual these FGN guitars are hard to get here in Australia but a couple of shops stock them; the tele with the neck HB are priced at about $1100 AUD which is pretty good considering that all the Fender Players and Epiphones have soared in price over the last two years.

    • @katsafone
      @katsafone 2 місяці тому

      Agree.. I was lucky to get hold of the metallic blue version with the neck HB on eBay here in Australia. Paid just over $857AUD for it with free shipping from eBay seller Strings for Less (AKA Angkor Music) after my Ebay Plus discounts. Very happy with the guitar after an interesting experience with a G&L ASAT Bluesboy semi hollow tribute. To me the FGN has a higher build quality along with some really nice tonal options. Although the FGN` has slightly thicker neck than my Ibanez SA260FM, I love the FGN and so glad I went for it... 🖖

    Good video!
    As a Japanese 🇯🇵I’m happy to see you finally introduced FGN (Fujigen) n loved how people reacted at comments.
    I think FGN is a one of the best buy guitar for 800~1000$ if you like their tones.
    Even now,you can buy FGN J-standard for under 100000yen (744US$) because of money order.
    N ofc they are made in Japan n super comfortable to play.
    Reason why Fujigen is OEM of Ibanez(prestige,J-custom),Fender Japan,etc…
    So many people already know how good they are.
    Maybe it’s hard to get them in some countries,but if you come to Japan,you can easily find them at almost any music stores.

    The best thing about FGN guitars is their terrible resale value for their quality 😅. I recently picked up a used FGN 335 with Gibson quality at an Epiphone price. It plays and feels amazing, glad i went with it over a new Sire.

      I agree with you.. I went through about 8 Epiphones before I found a decent 335 amongst them (mind you, the one I have kept is great, a far cry in build quality from the others). Must keep an eye out on the FGN 335 or even a Heritage 335 that others keep telling me about..

      Did you get one from Richard? I enquired a couple of months ago and I said I was keen that the fretboard would be nice and dark like all the promo photos, i.e. I hate 'streaky bacon' rosewood. They said I'd have to order one as they don't stock any, and couldn't promise a fretboard I was happy with. So I'd be interested in your experience.

    I still think the Ibanez AZES' are the bang for the buck. The pickups don't need swapping, roller string trees are like $10 a pair, the nut is pretty well cut as is on mine but having it touched up isn't expensive. The fret work is especially good for the pricepoint. The bridge isn't the best but is totally usable with a good set of tuners and the nut-work mentioned. And best of all unlike every Mexican fender Ive ever played, not the slightest bit of fret sprout even after 2 years of seasonal changes. I picked one up barely used for $250. $75 for locking tuners, and then maybe $200 for a full setup, nut file, and fret level/crown and at barely over $500 you have a perfectly functioning 25" (the perfect) scale length utilitarian beast that won't break your bank or your back.

    FGN guitars look good, but I have a concern with the circular fret system (or whatever it's called). The frets themselves are curved in two dimensions; firstly for the neck radius, and secondly to account for the tuning. My question is; what happens when it's time to re-fret? Will normal fret wire fit in the fret slots? And if regular fret wire dies fit, will my local guitar tech be able to re-fret it without botching the job completely? I don't know...

    • @muzerino
      @muzerino Рік тому +1

      A friend of mine is sponsored by FGN. He’s had his guitars refretted a couple of times and his luthier uses normal fret wire. It’s perfectly possible. But they can’t go through a PLEK machine due to the curved frets. However, after owning both types of frets I have to admit the circle fret thing does sound very crisp and clean. You can’t feel the difference playing it but you can hear it.

    Right away in your introduction I noticed that for a Tele style guitar the pickups ( or what sounded like the overall sound) was quite dull in the Sire: when you switched to the FGN, the sound brightend immediately... which was odd because they both had the "rosewood" fretboard. If the sire used a chesper bit of wood that could be the reason for dullness, but it would be interesting to hear a maple fretboarded T style from Sire to see if the pickups sound different( then again probably not).
