  • FGN Guitars = Fugijen = The very best producer of MIJ (Made In Japan) guitars.
Welcome to the FGNBoundary series guitars which are not only immense quality but AFFORDABLE too. At under £500 why settle for anything less than the best - which these clearly are.
See the FGN Boundary Series guitars here. The catalog contents are new so excuse some lack of detail at this point.
    rguitars.co.uk/collections/fg...
This is a Godin qualilty guitar at half the price. Its as simple as that. Made in Japan. The guitar I compared it to at the end of the video (Godin Session) is in fact £899 which is TWICE the price. The Godin Session is a brilliant guitar in its own right but if you have the budget of the Godin - wait until you see the J Standard series which are STILL cheaper than the Godin....
My advice to anyone who is looking for a Strat or Tele type guitar at under £500 you just must check one of these out. I know they are hard to find - I know I am going to be upset about availability - but thats the life of a specialist wanting to sell great guitars!!! Great guitars are never easy to find. I could not be more proud to be involved with FGN. Their legacy goes before them but thankfully even their cheapest guitars are built to a standard that I simply cannot fault. Its as simple as that.
As you may know - we hand finish every guitar and I look forward with FGN to have their guitars in our workshop where we can do what we want to be doing - which is personalising setup choices for the players who buy them - for finishing off the fret work - ensuring you get the right gauge of string set to the right action so when it arrives it feels like YOUR guitar.
Frankly, barring Cort guitars I am not sure I want to sell any other guitar brand below this price point. Our shop is about quality and providing the very best and FGN are showing me I don't have to compromise on what I sell.
Looking at a Vintage? Sure - we will do our very best to make it into the best it can be. You'll never make it into an FGN though. I appreciate everyone has a budget and Vintage is there to fill that budget. If however you can save - save - you will enjoy an instrument that easily competes with guitars at twice the price.

Love your passion and honesty in this review Richard. Some of the best guitars I’ve owned over the years have been Japanese made, so great to see these ones.

I can't speak for everyone but for myself it really comes across in your video's that it isn't a sales pitch and it is genuine enthusiasm for the brands you carry.
You come across as very genuine in your assessment's which is what turned me into a customer and led me to make sure I left a genuine review of my purchase and of the Gordon Smith guitar I received.

My brother's '83 SQ series Squier Strat was made by Fujigen. It was gigged regularly , very well looked after & still plays beautifully. Hopefully people will buy one of these lovely FGN guitars and love them just as much.

Lovely review Richard full of your usual passion. Would you take a minute or two to tell us what amps you use in your demos next time? Or how about a video or two on which amps you use? I almost wish these guitars were around when I bought my Godin and Richmond guitars from you years ago, but I'm still getting a lot of pleasure from them. Best wishes.

THATS a good review ! - and i just bourght - and are eagely awaiting a Lemondrop FGN Les Paul from 2016 - The reason i WANT a FGN guitar is simply the way they run the Factory in Japan - they are MASTERBUILDERS - the LOT ! im so so stoked , to finally get a FGN , after a long sad list of Sqires - Fenders and Gibsons ..... i knoe EXACTLY what you talk about - and thank you thank you thank you for pointing out what SHOULD be obvies , but simply not are on the "Big" G and F Granddaddy´s mind - and Bob´s certaintly NOT his uncle ! Hello. First time I have seen and viewed your channel. It is helpful information. I have an FGN Les paul type I recently purchased. It's a fantastic guitar. Do you know if the bridge is easily replaced with a gibson style . It looks like a 4mm stud. You might have answers to these questions. I have some sticking from the bridge or tailpiece . A ping when tuning and then a sharped note. I am looking at FGN super strats.
Hard tail body. My puppy needs to go outside. Thank you and good show.C.

I know this is an old video but two things: 1) Although I've watched other videos on the channel and been subbed a while, I came across this because I was doing a search for Fujigen, because today I tried their lowest-priced MIJ Tele style which seems to be sold only at local Japanese shops (I'm in Japan) and really liked it (and indeed, had a chance to compare it to a USA-made G&L ASAT they had for twice the price and honestly the FGN was so much better than that, talk about QC or lack thereof on the G&L), and 2) if I lived in the UK I would 100% buy my guitars at Richards Guitars over all the other usual suspects (as much as I love those companies' YT channels, don't get me wrong). This kind of passionate and honest seller is worth much more than whatever quid I'd save going to the others or to Amazon.

Can anybody tell me how the fgn medium fret size compares to other frets - e.g. the fender player line? Those are a bit too small for me, but since the fret size names tend to be quite loosely defined I hoped that these might be leaning more towards jumbo size. Thanks in advance!

First of all, I agree with 99.9 % of what you said about the quality control of guitars. I've just spoken to a luthier from Moldovia again who built violins in Prague and Moscow and he was shocked (swear words actually) about the quality control with guitars. They wouldn't even get to sweep the sawdust of the floor in a violin workshop if they tried the things they do. So why has this happened to guitars, especially solid-body electric guitars? Unfortunately had a few bad experiences with quality control of FGN guitars mainly bodywork and control knobs, but the necks are as smooth as silk and amazing super circle frets. I hope these distressed guitars that people buy haven't caused quality-control just to say-that will do.

Richards Guitars I have seen it, thanks! Were you using the golden brownie for the distorted sound? I have a Tom’s line Plexion which I assume is a very very similar pedal (if not same one but under another brand) and some good guitars but I’m missing a decent amp. Amp sims are definitely not the same, this is why I am so interested in knowing the details.
Any revelation about the amp? 🙂 thanks again!
I absolutely know that the key is your playing, I wouldn’t sound as good as I think you do in the video using the same gear (that legato run sounds 100% Satriani and you are not using Joe’s rig), but good equipment also helps for sure (and I say good, not necessarily expensive... this FGN guitars are a prove of it!)

Was going to purchase a guitar off you the other day a vintage v52 but sadly I'm getting an operation on my shoulder next week so will be out of gtar action for 6 months. On the plus side I can save up for one of your higher end guitars. What would you recommend for one of your strats £500/£1000 fgn or Godin.

Hi Richard, if possible would love to see a video of the fgn j standard that you showed us in this video compared to a Godin Progression plus (light cherry burst) these two have really caught my eye and I'm stuck on which one to purchase. They both look stunningly beautiful but would like to hear the pickups in both. The Godin has a Sduncan in the bridge and godin middle, neck but would like to hear the three duncans on the J. Would be much appreciated. Cheers buddy!

Of course can help with that and will sort you a good price as one of my best customers on the planet 🌏. Not sure about the FGN. They all have humbucker in the bridge. Is that ok? If not why not consider a Gordon smith? That can be arranged for sure and would be total pleasure

How can they afford to get the price down below £500 for a quality Japanese-made guitar? I notice all the Japanese instrument makers are shipping production of mainstream models out to China and the Japanese ones are the expensive, top-of-the-range ones (e.g. the Tama Star, Yamaha Phoenix drums, a handful of Ibanez guitar models). I'd expect it to be double that price or maybe just less -- it would easily compete with Fender's American Performer range at £800-900.
