      Also saw him in Toronto at my first metal show opening for Iced Earth in 2004. I was there for IE and was just barely into Bodom at the time, but that show cemented my interest in the band. Saw them again when touring for Are You Dead Yet? a couple of years later. I still wear that old "Reaping Souls in North America" tour shirt from time to time. RIP to a metal legend!

      Children Of Bodom was much bigger back in the early 2000s than they were now. I have read tons and tons of comments today about how people got into COB in the early 2000s and they helped shaped their taste of music and I'm one of them. They were my introduction into melodic metal back in the early 2000s and I've been listening to them every since. And every comment I've read from someone who met or hung out with Alexi have all said the same thing. He was a super nice, down to earth guy. RIP Alexi "Wildchild" Laiho

      @akrocanth 4 роки тому +8

      @@camaro25 similar story here. In Flames was my initial introduction to MDM in 2004 but soon after I discovered Follow The Reaper and HCDR, and those albums blew me away. Alexi was on a different level, he really was the new guitar hero for the 2000's era of metal. I sort of dropped off following COB around 2010-2012, but Hexed is really a solid album and brought me back recently. I'm also super thankful I finally got to see them live a few years back.

      Everyone here is obviously talking about Children of Bodom, but do yourself a favour and also check out his band, SInergy with whom he made three or four records. It's like COB but female-fronted and a lot more "powermetal" vibe than deathemetal. Great musical contrast and worth a listen! \m/

    Please take care of yourself, Alexi. Bodom has meant so much to me and so many of us over the years. I spent much of my time growing up with songs like "Downfall" and "Silent Night, Bodom Night"and have attended COB shows since I was 16. What you do is literally awe-inspiring - not even mentioning that English is not your native language. I just recently saw you in the US and wish I could've spoken to you in-person to let you know that, even though we're the hate crew, we all love you and want what's best for you.

    Damn... Children of Bodom was one of the first metal bands I remember listening to when I was young, and even though my preferences in metal changed over the years, I still considered them to be one of my favorites.
    Alexi truly was a maestro behind a guitar and I always was in awe of his ability to play, I even came up with a track based off the song, "If You Want Peace... Prepare For War."
    I truly feel terrible that he passed, but his legacy shall live on. Shred on my fellow children; shred on!

The custom model i ever dreamed on was exactly the same shape and specs so yeah maybe my opinion can be a bit partial, aniway this guitar has seen a lot a never let me down in any situation..sounds amazing, the neck is really fun to play and the ESP/LTD wood sound cuts the mixes and cuts in live. Yea, that guitar was fucking sharp. The black with hot pink accent was perfect.. I remember seeing an interview with him when that one came out. He talked about how he went to the nail polish aisle at a store and picked out a few of his favorite shades of hot pink to bring back to the guys @ ESP.

It's devastating that Alexi is no longer with us and I do not believe that there will ever be another like him. The music and memories will always remain though and hopefully they will enrich the lives of future generations as they've done ours. For You Alexi.
