Cats Ozzy and Rocky were strangely not interested.

Wow! This was so helpful. We have a sliding barn door under the deck and it gets windy in Kansas! That door would swing up and down banging on the deck. (It came like that with the house). I will try the latch part you showed for the first door and it looks easy enough for us to do. Thank you Alec for taking the time for the video and sharing it on UA-cam.

Glad it was helpful! Maybe you can find a few other tips to save time or just have a laugh watching my problems.

Love simple solutions. Thanks for sharing. Like a lot of security features, you're not going to keep a motivated thief out, but as my grandpa used to say "it will help keep an honest man honest."

I love what you did to lock that door up. Simple, cheap and functional. Thanks!

Hey Alec! No wonder I couldn't get in the shed to use your tractor at night. Once again you have another great idea. Keep them coming. Enjoy the ranch!

If the lights and cameras don't get you the lock will!!
      Take care.

You are also smart enough to attach that solar light above that I suspect also has a motion activated sensor to come on automatically. Brilliant way to provide light in the night so you can come out and lock/unlock that door. Kudos sir.

I like to solve problems and this was one that needed a fool proof and secure solution. My ranch friends have even copied it for their big door barns.

Hi Alec. Wow. You've given me an idea to secure my pole barn! I have two sliders and the Big Ass hooks aren't adequate. Too easy for some thief to use a crow bar to gain access. I'm thinking I could modify your approach and install the stake and eye inside the barn. I have a locked door access on the other side. Thanks a heap. Pat Bryant

Welcome Pat. Your idea sound good to secure it from the inside. Sure will make opening the door a big problem for troublemakers.

bad thing about padlocks if there not nonpickable locks they can easily be picked. I learned that the hard way after things in my shed were missing. also if the nonpickable lock has a serial number on it you have to grind off the number or the thief can easily tell the company of the lock they lost there key and give them the serial number to get the key to break into someones property. its sad people would go to all the trouble to break into someones stuff but they will.

Sadly some people are just crooks. This setup is just one layer of my home security, my two guard dogs are good but watch out for the guard cats!

Took me a while to figure out a safe way to lock a rolling door. This seemed easy and secure.

Real thieves would love that lock also. Many clever hidden lock devices for smart thieves on UA-cam.

10 seconds with a bolt-cutter and the lock is gone -- and nothing to prevent thieves from entering

It will delay them plus my video security cameras, horn and flashing lights. If that does not work, there is always Smith & Wesson to help.
