I’m not sure but I think it came out the same year as The Last Samurai and May have been overshadowed by Hollywood hype. This film beats it hands down. Such an underrated film
First time I heard this music I was mesmerized. I had to look for the film. While watching I felt him and her. It was sad but it was also triumphant. Where honor and love, family and country, needs and wants dovetailed beautifully throughout the scenes. A masterpiece.

I believe it got deserved recognition. Nominated in academy award. Seibei got roles in many Hollywood movies.
