@@DaintyCanadian Yep, global brands usually go with a localised pronunciation. Whilst OP is technically correct, you're also fine just using the pronunciation the company themselves use. For example Hyundai seem to use a different pronunciation in most regions lol. Just off the top of my head it's "hun-day" in the US, "He-un-day" in australia and the UK they say "Hi-un-die", and that's their official advertising. The actual korean isn't any of them, it's actually closer to "hyon-day" and the d is closer to a t to my ears lol.
I thought the same thing at first, but I checked the Japanese Yamaha site and found this "NIKEN(ナイケン)", the katakana is typically romanized "Naiken" and pronounced like he's saying it. I'm guessing most people aren't familiar with the typically romanization system, so Yamaha just went with what they thought would be more intuitive to the masses i.e., "ni" like "nine".

Yamaha seems to be the most forward-thinking when it comes to front ends, with them bringing both the Niken and the GTS-1000 to the market. Wish someone could bring back hub-center steering to the mainstream market, though.
This is a pretty cool Machine I really like it. This bike reminds me of when Yamaha put out the GTS 1000. Yamaha continues to put out mechanically interesting machines.

I really like Adam, but I've noticed that these feel more like an advertisement. I can't pinpoint the issue, and maybe it's just that it feels over-rehearsed. I really love the series and am glad it is continuing, so hopefully you guys can sort out some of these growing pains while you keep producing great content!

As if you were having a one-on-one chat. Whereas Adam sometimes feels more like just reciting the spec sheet. Specs are good, but that’s more for a specific review - I liked the more-casual approach of Zach’s rides, as that was kinda the point - just a ride to work, and a man’s thoughts. But either way, big shoes to fill, and it’s not a criticism persay :)
It looks and sounds pretty sweet but I'm forever spoiled by the FJR's windscreen and shaft drive. Friends, it's tough to beat lowering the screen for some air in town and raising it when you're back blasting down the road - all with the touch of a button. Hardley Ableson riders won't understand because they only ride far enough to park & pose at the nearest watering hole. =P
Great job, thanks! How about a "mirror report"? Really like this format for reviews / checking out bikes. I can read specs all day long, but the ride along is so great. The details of what we riders face every ride are included, clutch feel, break feel, mirror location, throttle response, twitchy in the corners, refueling ease, kickstand and / or center stand, windshield effectiveness, seat comfort , does the bike look great but feel cheap, and so forth. Bikes can be so sexy, but some are like being married to a supermodel; sexy to look at but very impractical for the long run. Thanks Adam!

Talked to 4-5 dealers in CO, no one would ever commit to having one available, never called back after leaving name/number. Yamaha doesn't seem to actually want to sell these. Got an H2 instead.
@Dave C. Because I like the newest interesting oddball things. I'm a speed demon first though, but the idea of the confidence in the nikens front end was appealing. I certainly don't consider it a trike in the classic sense since it can't even stand on it's own.
Pretty cool set-up, looks like good fun. I wonder if Yamaha could incorporate a self balancing system on this machine, some sort of device you could lock off when it's in the upright position. That would be super cool. Nice video presentation MM. I bet you pi55ed of a lot of drivers weaving through the bumper to bumper queuing traffic.😁

I have a similar style bike, and the extra contact patch gives me a little more security and stability on iffy surfaces like wet roads, tar snakes, and gravel roads. It also locks upright when parked, making it easy for me to move around by myself.
@@CarolanIvey I could certainly see this being a great alternative for people who have some issues with balance and keeping a bike upright for various reasons. certainly looks better than trike if you ask me.
@@matthewseals8110 My Piaggio leans and falls over just like a two-wheeler. Trust me, I've dropped it. LOL If somone has balance issues, this type of bike is NOT for them. They need to get a Can-Am or a traditional trike. IMO my Piaggio is way more fun than a trike because I can lean into the curves. The advantage of my bike is that it's an automatic, no clutch involved, so it would be good for someone with grip issues like I have. The one in this video, though, looks like it is a clutched bike plus it LOOKS like a motorcycle, not an oversized scooter like mine. I bet this one has more power than mine, too!
in some countries you don't need a motorcycle license to ride 3 wheeled vehicles. so for people who want to ride a bike but don't have the license this is a great option
