    To me it's a masterpiece. I've worn it to many places like work, school, family gatherings etc. And people around me really enjoyed it. Never get any negative feedback. but one thing I will say is that it does require you to have a huge personality. You can't be an introvert wearing this.

    Totally my experience with Ombré Nomade, I love the smell but it’s so powerful and aggressive that I’m super self conscious when wearing it

      There's an overdose of ambrocenide and particularly javanol which are huge culprits of the modern beast mode performance woody amber molecules. And ombre nomade is probably at the forefront of that movement

    I bought a sample of this and while I wouldn't say I hated it, I wasn't the biggest fan. My girlfriend however loved it and blasted through the decant. Side note...she does love loud fragrances to put it lightly. 😅

    You might like Perfect Oud by Mizensir. I think it brings out the best parts of Ombré Nomade and Ombré Leather. It’s airier too, much more wearable.

    Surprised you feel this way about Ombre Nomade but like Interlude Black Iris, I own Black Iris too, it's def more intense / harsher / stronger than the LV. I feel it's less mass appealing too but I do like it a lot as well.

    • @CgScents
      @CgScents  8 днів тому

      I feel so the opposite on this. Black Iris to me is really smooth and I have people not detect 4 sprays in the air at my job, granted, the Amouage Atomizers are more like spritzers lol it's strong but not coming out the walls can't wash it off. Ombre Nomade is a lot more abrasive, borderline sour with rose and oud to me and it's probably only rivaled in strength by megamare and zoologist t rex from what I've encountered.
      Could be batch variation or just different interpretations of the scent. I brought up King Blue and Interlude Black Iris because I know those are perceivably strong and polarizing always felt they were pretty smooth and not very abrasive. I wanted to highlight the confusing nature of subjectivity figuring people would completely disagree with that experience or relate to it.

    It was awful for me.
    I bought a decant, and one spray filled the room, and I gave it 30 minutes and I couldn’t take it.
    I washed twice, and was still there.
    I rubbed baby oil over and that did the trick.

  • @ethanrrs
    @ethanrrs 8 днів тому +1

    You know what's funny is the thing is to my nose, ombre nomade and nouveau monde are extremely similar in smell and performance, and I know you like nouveau monde a ton! I find that the leather is amped up in nouveau, and the medicinal floral qualities in ombre nomade are swapped out for those chocolately maybe animalic aspects. I prefer nouveau monde more personally as well. I just don't think there's TOO much of a difference between them

    • @ethanrrs
      @ethanrrs 8 днів тому

      Oh also -- I think king blue is Amouage's masculine interpretation of the modern 'beastmode' performance that a lot of perfumes are bringing and the community is asking for over and over again. (Guidance being the feminine one) So I think it's in the same league as ombre nomade personally, there's a lot of sweet fruity notes and a lot of huge projecting synthetic Amberwood molecules at the core wrapped around what seems to be a pretty authentic oud accord. So while it's still a great perfume and maybe isn't as CRAZY strong as ombre nomade I find it's in this same genre and still pretty damn strong and not necessarily in a good way

    • @CgScents
      @CgScents  8 днів тому +1

      That’s a great breakdown of the differences. The floral and raspberry in ombré Nomade are probably what I have an adverse reaction to. It just makes me feel ombré is a lot heavier and harder to pull off. I love animalics and the lighter nature of nouveau. First time I smelled nouveau I thought it was similar to ombré but after wearing it quite a bit I felt so different with it on. Like a perfect leather jacket masculine fragrance.
      King blue is just so smooth to me.
      It’s weird fragrance is so subjective. My most recent acquisition orto Parisi Cuoium is really weird because it’s so LOUD and virtually unwearable as well. It lasts like two days on skin and is probably close to the same strength. But I don’t feel overwhelmed by it. The smoke and leather just feels so masculine. But I’d NEVER wear it to work and question if I can even pull it off 😅.
      I do like strong fragrances so it’s confusing. The subjectivity places fragrance review platforms like mine in more of a primarily entertainment genre of content with perhaps some educational value as long as they’re honest. I enjoy talking about it quite a bit and love the open expression but at the end of the day it’s ridiculously subjective and at times just senseless fun.

    • @ethanrrs
      @ethanrrs 8 днів тому

      @@CgScents oh for sure! I love the subjectivity and how open a lot of the community is to others' perception of fragrances. even when there's certain ingredients that *should* elicit certain reactions based on their nature, people still have their own preferences and tastes.
      I don't LOVE the new wave of sugary fruitiness and a handful of the synthetic amberwoods feel really screechy to me (like in ombre nomade, and to an extent king blue, although king blue uses different synthetics that are still very strong like sylvamber). But they're still being used for a reason! People enjoy it and there's nothing to do but respect it. There's still a ton of smoother, more mysterious and animalic offerings that don't use certain synthetics for my own personal taste etc.
      What I don't enjoy is when sometimes people bully or talk down on others for not having the same enjoyment of certain DNAs or fragrances..like stepping into a forum and saying you dislike a certain vintage chanel, or going into TikTok saying you don't love every parfum de marly or Louis Vuitton. You'll get killed for it lol. They gotta realize it's all subjective and everyone has their own unique taste and personal aesthetic they want to go towards, so not everything is meant to be universally liked.

    • @CgScents
      @CgScents  8 днів тому +1

      @@ethanrrs What are some recommendations of things to try? I'd like to gain more perspective on animalic offerings a lot of my favorites have some use of animalics oddly.
      I agree. I think a lot of critics of PDM and LV, for example, can also be somewhat insulting. They can come across preachy or say 'it's trash.' I feel the community would be positively responsive to respectful and balanced takes. I hope so at least lol. At the end of the day, it usually is pretty balanced. It's rare for a fragrance to be so bad it's trash. And even in that case, it's kind of rude to refer to it as such. If someone asks my opinion on a car they purchased and I responded 'it's trash' I wouldn't be surprised if there's a backlash. People don't do that in person, the internet removes filters that naturally exist.
      A lot of ego gets tied up with material possessions especially when they're a manifestation of personal taste. It's important for me to try to dissociate from that to conclude a true honest take which always ends up being more balanced and free of emotional attachment. It's a skill I've been developing. Honestly, since starting this channel the subjectivity is just so comical. I reflect and remember things I've witnessed first hand to have a laugh when my ego starts to inflate lol.

      @@CgScents honestly for quality animalics, that is probably the best introduction into the search for vintage perfumes, haha! Nothing can beat the real thing, and vintage is when those materials weren't restricted or banned... Vintage versions of YSL Kouros and Chanel Antaeus are the kings of civet and castoreum, respectively.
      You can still find animalic bombs in modern perfume, but it will be overall approximations based on synthetics or natural accords, which isn't a bad thing at all. Any big mention of ambrarome in ingredients will bring a prominent mineralic and animalic vibe - it's meant to be a more gristly interpretation of a an ambergris replacement, like all of what ambroxan takes OUT of its composition lol. that's a labdanum product that's laced with an indole called skatole (found in feces) and other compounds found in milk production etc, to amp up the animalic nature of it. Silver oud is probably the biggest one in recent times but of course there's a ton more... Zoologist is also a great introduction to these types - hyrax is great. And the earthy prim lomros perfumes like bat and the upcoming king cobra give those damp, 'pissy' vibes that you'd get in Kouros and old amouage figment man. There's a few old discountinued Amouage's that punch you in the face with animal or mineral notes like figment and opus x as well. I personally also find overture man a bit animalic though pretty palatable. Kind of in the same ballpark as nouveau mondes leathery animal notes honestly.
      After that, looking for more independent niche brands, like prim's own brands (strangers perfumery, prissana, prin etc) will be really creative and bold. Sometimes using genuine animal products like animal hair tinctures to give some barnyardy aspects, and some real oud that can punch you in the face with just how pungent it can be. Don't be afraid to look for a lot of those smaller indie brands that are reputable in the community!
      There's a couple on TikTok named Jamie and Noah. And Noah is probably way more knowledgeable than me on animalics, and they're very friendly! I wouldn't hesitate to reach out for more info.

    Very surprised you didn't like it, for me it's one of the best mass appealing oud fragrances out there. Maybe you should try Les Sables Roses as the oud much less prominent and it has a very beautiful dark watery rose in it.

      @@CgScents I also think that it's too powerful... that and the scent profile makes LV ON very difficult to wear or to find the occasion to do so. The 100ml seems like a waste of money for me, since it's going to be impossible to use even half of it giving that it's a 1-2 sprays max per use.
      Anyway, I've been wanting to try a discontinued Issey Miyake fragrance called Or Encens that seems to be a similar take on ON scent profile but lighter.

      I get a similar vibe from a standard middle eastern rose Oud like Arabian Oud Royal Oud or AO Woody but without the leather and raspberry they’re a lot easier to wear. I even wear them to the office with 0 insecurity about it. That leather and raspberry with the radioactive projection was what choked me out on the opening then I’d become nose blind but know I’m giving it lol.

That matters to me more now than it did in the past, it sucks waiting for an occasion to use something and it ends up being a dust collector.
