Apparently, the Flash Shift trick also works against Raven Beak. When he's charging his slash wave during phase 1, use Flash Shift against him at the right time to interrupt him and enter the counter sequence.
I didn't know about the first Kraid one! That's wild! Dread is brimming with so many little details you probably won't notice the first time you play through it.
Yo how strong is Samus? Big boy Kraid is a very massive creature and she just pries his mouth open with 1 hand and pumps missiles into him. Im trying to figure out what that bench press game is
I’ve never thought about this before, but... Is Kraid supposed to shoot missiles out of his belly holes, or is that some sort of unfortunate skin infection? The holes seem almost like wounds, seeing as one of them is infected. The way he grabs at his stomach before he does that attack where he shoots three missiles at once makes it seem like he’s in pain. Plus, when he shoots that final projectile at the end of the fight, blood, pus, or some other bodily fluid comes out with it. Should we be worried about Kraid? Does he need some gold bond or something?
A question, please, on Z-57: When you hold the Shinespark before the last trio of slime waves, is Samus supposed to turn towards the back wall and run to it, or let the wind gusts blow her back? I don’t see how you keep the charge when you take the damage by hitting the back wall. Thanks for the video.
..... That Kraid insta-kill. I feel like such an idiot for not realizing that. I'm over 2 hours in on a sub 4-hour run and I low-key wanna start over just because of that. lmao
@@jacobg8640 I don't know, I think it's kind of optimal, because you have to get the grapple beam before you can get the bombs, which means you don't have to come back for it later
@@esmooth919 Maybe it is then, like I said I wasn't sure.. I have no idea what path speedrunners usually take in terms of sequence breaking lol. I did my 4 hour run without sequence breaking.
@@GrimmToast just did the under than 4 hours run without (almost) looking up for any information, and I can tell you that I don't think this instakill is worth it since after getting the Varia Suit, the portal sends you near Kraid, while running to get the early grapple and bomb makes you cross almost all the map before. The time you gain with the instakill is far smaller than the time you lose running. Other than that, the sequence break that allows you to get early grapple is super cool, you just have to do it after Kraid since it's then a very little detour.
if you dont know you can fight corpius in the demo using the pseudo wave beam can get you to the corpius fight and it actually functions like normal sadly after you get the phantom cloak the demo just crashes

I never knew about the Flash Shift animation for Kraid. That was honestly pretty cool.

She is canonically 436 times stronger than the average human, or something like that, zebra gravity os extreme and she was raised there

His stomach has a parasite, but the spikes are a natural part of his anatomy. Shooting them probably still hurts like hell though.

Thanks for the comment! You can take a hit and keep momentum. The charge lasts for exactly 5 seconds.
Okay. But what about Samus’s direction? Are we supposed to turn Samus towards the wall, or keep facing into the wind gusts?
You can really fast yes, thats what im doing
It is also possible to continue to stay in the Speedboost state during the last two attacks and avoid them and then charging the Shinespark.
Love the first two, but the third isn’t a secret. There’s no additional animation, you don’t need to sequence break to do it; it’s just a technique ✌🏼
And it’s hard as balls to do….honestly that ability is probably my least favorite in the entire game.
Actually, if you go underneath him and shinespark upwards, the camera angle changes for the shinespark.
There is an additional animation if you do it under his head
if you shinespark'd below Experiment Z-57, the camera will focus to you. A little easter egg that the developers thought you might be doing.
1:11 I can't get this right for the life of me! I always miss!
The last two are always the same.
So you have to full hop on this 1:23 and then do a shorthop into a fullhop on the last one.
Never knew about flash shift attacking animation...

I believe it requires a sequence break to get bombs early, and I'm not sure if it's an optimal one in a speed run, so don't feel like an idiot.
