"Breaking" is the correct word for these people to use! The rest of us "start" horses. We don't break them.

Any 'trainer' who never releases pressure, isn't training, they're just man handling

As a freelancerider it was not my call- it is the owner and trainer who provide the ground work... Clearly this horse was lacking a foundation/ or had a inconsistent one- I found the filly not to be frantic in her response to taking rider- but bullish, showing she had been topped before, and likely had been held tight by the handler and rider... Forced to step into the bit while pressured... Thats why she stops motion on her front like she did then tried to evade the ground handler. I doubt the home life would have improved with scared and oppressive hands- so I give her an open rein and and freed her from the ground rope and let her move along. Seemed tho the filly give to the release readily.

And that is why inept and amateur riders delight in warmbloods tainting the greatness of a thoroughbred with a mutt- to temper the animals strong and bold character! The flighty nature and full on adrienal response which also gives the animal its unmatched ability to perform. Stick to your mutts they are much safer and controlled for those who puff around making judgement on that which is beyond their own ability.

The trainer- (the guy on the ground) brought this horse into the track to be rode, telling me "the horse is going good at the ranch... Well there are thousands of times ive heard that- and that "their granddaughter rides it all the time" blah blah... Ive gone over the phycology of what makes this mare act like she did, and why she gave up the tantrum, wirhout having any of the signs of having an adrenal response- big actor this mare is with just enough physical abilities to be a real ass! Just like people who flap their mouths with just enough knowledge to be a pain in the ass.

@@freelancerider100 I started over 300 horses.....TBs, Friesians, Arabs, Morgans, Appy, gaited horses, wild horses caught off the range, you name it. Some where 2 year olds, some were 8 when I started them. NEVER did ANY of them buck or show the fear and insecurity this horse displays. But then, I knew what I was doing, and I listened to the horse.

As a freelance rider I only see these animals for the time I am riding them- some winters I would ranch up and top colts, which usually is 15days worth of ground work and long lines, so by the time I start setting the seat, they are well on the way a ready..
