    Executive Laundry pro here 👋🏻 the key to being successful with poplin is to build a base of high tipping, regular customers and doing multiple pick ups/drop offs at the same time. It takes a while to really get going, but you can make decent money once you do. And yes, please wear gloves 😆

    • @YourDriverMike

      Makes sense, I've seen some huge point values on the leaderboard. How's the operational costs?

    • @suzanne813
      @suzanne813 8 днів тому +1

      @@YourDriverMike my biggest expense is the increase in my electric bill, but that will vary based on local rates. Bags are cheap when bought in bulk and it’s easy to get free or heavily discounted detergent with deals and coupons. The base pay is garbage, but the high tippers will make it worth it. Bonuses will go as high as $40, so that helps too!

    Hah, saw that order popup :) Already had 3 orders going, and it's in the forbidden zone across the rivers :-P My comments as I watch your video:
    Bags at pickup are for transferring from hamper to your bag, they don't need to be clear. Strong 33 gallon bags are good to have on hand for this but usually you just get bags they leave out. The fancy labels are for dropoff bags, use anything to tag what you pickup (Tape is fine and a sharpie) Bag size grading at pickup I usually say small for grocery bag sizes, regular for 13 gallon size, and large if it's larger than 13 gallon. I believe this adjusts their credit card hold but may only be used for averaging order pricing. Pre-weigh you don't need to bother with unless you think it's 100 lbs or more (For requesting an extension). Regarding ribbon, they will grant you bonus points after you deliver (they (Poplin) review the photos and comment sometimes) for good presentation, ribbon, etc. They'll ALSO DEDUCT points if they see issues (Garbage bags with the ties still on them vs. ribbon). If you have a scale that you can reliably get a good weight on (Suggest one w/separate display) you can put 100.0 for your weight and then just 1xx.x for each bag. Suggest having some long kitchen rubber gloves for handling the laundry, you don't know what you're diving into! Suggest using color catchers for laundry loads, cheap insurance. Don't suggest using free and clear unless they request it since there is no scent, can result in complaints. That is a low tip, most of my tips have been in the 40-100% range.
    I think this app does well once you establish a set of regular customers, spreading your QR code to get more active clients in the area helps (And they have some pre-made things you can print up on Canva). So get your QR code out there Mike, drum up some more business in this area :)

      Detergent: $.20 per load ($21.99/110 loads max)
      Plastic Garbage Bag: $.32 ($31.99/100 bags)
      Poplin Label: $.03 ($7.99/300 labels)

      I think of it as a decent filler app, like Walmart Spark. If I'm near by I can grab one but my biggest concern is the operational costs (water, electric etc) especially at scale. To confirm, yeah as a customer I've provided cloth hampers of clothes (the tall ones with handles) or my large laundry bags in the past. The next day, I receive my laundry back in a driver's personal garbage bags with my hampers next to it and my laundry bag folded inside their bags. I don’t have $100 to get started with something that doesn’t have any kind of guaranteed return. I’ve read a bunch about how you have to do work to get work. You start out at the bottom. Everyone who has been doing this already gets everything first. You basically have a DD 0% AR.
    I’m going to say this every time. The only way to really make money at gig work is to monetize a YT channel about it.

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike  7 днів тому

      The ratings system is unique in that sense, people who have been doing this for years have tons of points already. I will say there are good gig apps out there apart from monetizing on socials which in itself is a great side hustle.
