U miss the local vadval /panch kalshi food (u showed only one dish bhujing) which is one of the best food u will find In the country.. Actually it's kind of fusion of North India and western coastal Indian food..

The history of Bassein dates back to Treta Yuga. Bassein (or Vasai or Oppire or Orparak or Shorparag or Shurparaka as it was called from time to time) was established by Bhagawan Parashuram, it also finds a reference in the old testament.
That was really peaceful beach, im sure now peple will crowd up this place as well.

Vasai houses an interesting combination of historical value, cultural diversity and has got all the strong ingredients of a metropolitan in the making. It is indeed interesting to see how this place has evolved since been Bassein to what it is today. The place has definitely extended its progressive boundaries and it is a great thing. Vasai is also famous for nirmal church and shiva mandir
This is not even 10% of Vasai...There is so much more about Vasai. Also, not a single church is shown wherein you have so many beautiful churches in the vicinity.

You missed the Tungareshwar hilltop forest area which is also in vasai. Very nice place especially in rainy season.

After Dahisar nothing is Mumbai. Just to be specific South Mumbai ( Colaba to Mahim or the Island City ) , Suburbs ( Bandra to Andheri ), Central Suburbs ( Powai , Mulund, Chembur etc ) & The Outskirts ( Mira Bhayender )

The Baçaim (now known as Vasai) region ruled by Portuguese in not just Baçaim but included areas far Bombay, Thane, Kalyan, Chaul and Revdanda since 1530. The ruler of Thane surrendered Thane, Bandorah (Bandra), and Mombaim (current day South Bombay the richest province in India which were just bunch of small koli villages then). It was won back by Maratha army led by Chimaji Appa (Bajirao peshwa's younger brother) 1737, they took possession of Thane including all the island forts and Ilha das Vaccas - (Island of Arnala), Manora (Manor Palghar), Sabajo (Sambayo/Shabaz near Belapur) - present day Belapur fort) and the hills of current day Santa Cruz.
The Portuguese ruler was Antonio Da Silveria.
When portugese came mumbai was not island of some villages of kolis. It was ruled by Ling bhimdevrai who migrated from kelva mahim to mumbai Island and named his capital mahim in memory of his old capital of kelve mahim..

Vasai fort was captured by Portuguese, long period later freed by Marathas in 1739/40 under Chimaji Appa, brother of Bajirao Peshwa

For your kind information, this fort is a national heritage which is maintained by ASI. Photography is not allowed in such places .For photoshoot you must take permission from ASI office by paying non refundable amount of 25k per day and 50k deposit. After photoshoot you have to submit photos for checking and after that you will get your 50k back.
If someone found doing photoshoot without permission he/she will be imprisoned and a fine of 50k.

Vasai fort was not built by portuguese they renovated the fort It was built in 1184 by Yadavas of Devagiri
