I've been there and everything about that place is stunning, even the sunlight! I liked this video, but the last sentence of narration is in error: Monaco is a principality, not a kingdom.
Right on principality vs kingdom. I also noted error of HRH, His Royal Highness vs HSH, His Serene Highness, the proper styling.

You know, the palace is literally the Prince’s only residence in the country, because there’s not a lot of land for more residences. Instead, they just kept expanding on their palace over the centuries. Since it’s a working palace, it’s also the seat of power, and there’s always sentries on duty.

Am wondering if that newly discovered artwork wasn't too pagan for what might be the Catholic sensibilities of the later Royal Family members and/or Monégasque citizens - and maybe that was why it was painted over? The Renaissance was too progressive in many ways, and Monaco is supposed to be a Catholic monarchy.
The 2 Fortress that's no longer there, would be best served nowadays as a Missle Launching Castle 🏰

We went to monaco about 18yrs ago it was wonderful,we have all the photos,their was a wedding on the side of the street not far from the principality it was wonderful standing watching it

The principality is over 700 years old. There is no miracle, apart from the idyllic setting , but hard work , in order for it to survive ❤
On my family tree I traced us back to the year 1300, I believe further back around year 1000 'Grimaldo' my ancestors was the founder of the house.

Had I married Prince Ranier I would have explored every nook and cranny in my spare time...Looking for secret doors, passages, and book shelves...I'm surprised the children didn't explore, but from what I've read, they were on a very tight leash...not a very pleasing childhood.

Would have expected Real Royalty with it's focus to not make such a crude error as putting "HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco" at 4:40 when Princes/cesses of Monaco are styled His/Her Serene Highness and not His/Her Royal Highness. So HSH, or SAS(French). You know , whatever, but if going to do it do it right.
I agree when they get something so basic as that wrong it makes one question the veracity of the content.

Your Programme while is very good, there are several mistakes. For starters none of the Royal familes of Monaco are HRH with the exception of Princess Caroline(by marriage) and Princess Alexandra(by being Princess of Hanover). Everyone else is HSH(His or Her Serene Highness).

He is NOT HRH His Royal Highness. He is HSH His SERENE Highness.....they are a step down.... not equal.
HSH but since it’s a sovereign estate,their rank in equal to a HRH. That’s why Albert is always alongside other royals/heads of state during royal weddings and funerals.
Albert is a monarch so he is actually on the same level as all other monarchs as they are all equal, regardless of their title.

Enjoyed this from start to finish, however this lacks one important component -- How did the Grimaldi's finance this over the centuries? At some point they mush have reestablished relations with Genoa or was it Louis XVI?
Grace Kelly (or her father) had to pay a dowry of us$3m to Ranier.
I'm not sure a relationship with Genoa was ever reestablished, it's a good question. My 7th great grandfather was made to leave Genoa and never returned.

Why be confused? He first and foremost represents his principality Monaco, and its history, of which language is French too but not English. Yes, he got the English through his mother who came across the Atlantic ocean to marry his father who spoke French. So French is Prince Albert's first tongue.
