Starting to look like an AEROPLANE, great job Parker .
Almost ready to take it all apart and seal all the wood and start covering
@@DTMinimax It's a shame that you will have to cover it. :-) That will hide all of that beautiful wood working that you've done. But you'll know it's there. :)
Oh, think I used 7 or 8 quarts of Polyurethane to seal all. And I remember it was expensive. Probably could have used more, as there was considerable fuselage damage 13 years later. Yes, Florida heat and humidity.
Sweet sure does look good, the smile on your face says it all. Beautiful job and I can only imagine the excitement from sitting in there with everything looking the way it does 👌
Thanks Chris! It is so fun to see it start to come together like this. Almost ready to cover!
80% done 80% to go. Looking good and at the great mile stone of looking like a plane. Big injection of motivation point for you.
One week in to binge watching from the beginning, good job 😊 thank you.
Wow! That’s a lot of watching!
I'm just saying that you're amazing... keep up this amazing job. Best wishes always to my brother
Thanks so much! Glad you continue to enjoy the videos
Looking good!
Thanks Wally…are you watching from the beginning?
AWESOME!
It looks amazing! Great work, guys. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💚🌻
Thank you so much!
GOOD AIRPLAINR , I❤ INTERESTED WING AIRFOIL INFORMATION , COORDINATE.
The digital plans are very inexpensive, you should grab a set from Team Minimax
Fantastic stuff Dennis & Parker! It's really taking shape now, that wall behind the Plane with some of your painting skills could be made to look like clouds. Great progress! I am curious about the way the struts attach to the undercarrige, does that mean there is no suspension to speak of?
Great observation - the tires are the suspension system. :-) Usually are inflated to around 10 psi. Yes, that's low, but will allow for great touch downs. Makes you work for nice 2 and 3 point landings, :-)
@@mmichaeldonavon awesome I thought that may have been the case but was curious all the same, I've never seen a Minimax before and have refused to look them up until I see this build completed. 10 Psi on wheels that small shouldn't be an issue. I used to run my street car tyres at 14 Psi when drag racing here Down Under with no issues (funny insert, maybe that worked because we're upside-down here so there's less gravity?) 🤣🤣 Thanks for the great reply cheers 🍻
Also as a bloke that's used to flying gliders one alway's plans for a smooth landing ha ha
That’s for sure Leo…you get one shot at it. I love flying gliders. Parker has his glider license and got to fly a 1-26 quite a bit.
@@DTMinimax Dennis. All of these skills - I'm envious. Never had a ride in a sailplane - my son has, and he said it was super nice. See you later.
Was it really quicker - or was that editing? Looks like Parker really helps speed things along!
The first wing took us 7 hours and this one took 2.5 hours…it went a lot quicker
Looks really nice Dennis - and Parker. :-) In my head I keep seeing something about 3 or 5 degrees that has to do with the spar carry through. Can't really place that. Is there something in the plans that relates to that? I must be "misremembering" something. :-) Your Minimax really looks nice in that "level fuselage" stance. Love it. .
You have it right. The cross member that it mounts to has a 2 degree bevel on it to match the wing incidence.
@@DTMinimax Wow, the old 82 year old brain still kicks in periodically. Thanks, Dennis.
Great build one day when I get a little older I’m going to build one. May I request we have more videos around this length shorter than normal?
That’s an interesting request. I’m curious, is it the time investment that has you preferring shorter videos…I’m just trying to learn as much about my viewers as I can
@@DTMinimax instead of 20-30 maybe 10-15 minutes
@@DTMinimax this is just my preference I don’t think I speak for anyone but those who agree with me
@@sethenewman4309 Thank you for the feedback, I do honestly appreciate it
Just a thought on the issue of running the bolt on the landing gear/strut attachment. Would that be a cause for concern when getting you air worthy certificate. I don’t think it would be a problem if this was going to be an ultralight.
Cessna and other certificated aircraft manufacturers run bolts "backwards" if the situation/engineering warrant.
Yea I was going to say, sometimes from a maintenance standpoint, sometimes the general rule has to be broken.
As an example, on my front straps that attach the wing to the carry through, I wish I would have broken the rule and put those bolts in back to front. The won’t come out now because of the curvature of the leading edge sheeting. I would have to cut them if they ever had to come out.
It's looking good! It is so good that you and your son can work together, that is something I never got to do with my kids
For sure Joseph. He was finishing his Masters in Daytona Beach and I never imagined we would get to live this close together and build together.
First! lol looks like parker is taking over, stay tuned to my channel for future cross countries over 100 miles. 100 hours logged and I feel confident in my two stroke engine to travel like a ga plane.
Funny
Boy, that is the hope. I’m wanting the same, to have the confidence to stretch out.
Parker is enjoying helping me out and thinks he needs one too.
Will it fly
I sure hope so Sunanda for the investment made
@@DTMinimax Dennis, you'll be off "like a big bird." :-)
Dennis , you and I started at the opposite ends , I finished all the flying surfaces and am now covering the fuse , I am racing to try to beat you into the air or at least to wieght and balance. Can you send me a private e mail so that I can send you pictures of my progress , is that possible? RiP
