Nice. My last set of wood L.E.s I used a wal mart kiddie pool to soak. Worked good and the single mom I gave it to after use was happy. I stuck mine in a large piece of pvc with a bar clamped through. Your's is a lot better deal.
Dennis. Funny I don't remember just how I soaked my leading edges. They formed OK. I think that leading edge plywood is 3 ply, as I recall. What was the thickness? 1/32nd?
Great idea to add those gussets, I wonder how you got that idea :-) How long do you leave it to dry? Do you need to move it along the form to allow the bits that are next to the Negative ribs, so they can fully dry? Last question, do you do you varnishing with it in the form, as I think that would help it hold its shape a bit?
I try and let it dry in there for 24 hours. The last time I did this I didn’t move it at all until I took it out. It could be varnished and put back in the form to dry. I haven’t seen anyone do that though. You are probably right that it would help. Getting it varnished and then on the wing while the next one is drying is the hope. That was a good idea with the gussets so thank you for that.
you are two bloody clever
I wish all my ideas were original, a lot of them are things I’ve seen along the journey!
Looks like your system worked very well. I was curious why you worried about dumping the water tray before forming the leading edge though?
I was just giving the water a little time to shed off and soak in. I didn’t have a place to store the tray with water in it anyway
You are my happy Place Therapy, thank you so much! Enjoying it!
Hey Joseph! Nice of you to say. I’m really glad you are enjoying the videos. I sure enjoy making them!

That’s awesome! Whatever it takes, right!
Hi dear friend
The thickness of this sheet is a few millimeters
This is a multilayer sheet
The plywood is 3 ply 1/16” or 1.5mm

It’s 1/16” and 1/32” on the aileron.

@@DTMinimax The gussets you have look very nice.
Could you set me up with your laser guy. Would love to get as many small pieces laser cut to save time and arthritis.
For sure! www.bhplans.com
He cut all rib gussets, wing gussets, and all tail surface gussets for me. I even threw in the rudder pedals and he cut those.
Sweet thanks... I remember him from the scale kits. I dreamed of a B17 build as a kid and think that's where I remember him from.
Yea he’s been at it for a long time!
