you're completely correct regarding door sound, first thing my wife noticed about our bmw...our old 2004 vw passat had it too...current MX-5 ND2 is good, heavy doors, family CX-50 is 'decent'....
Great review...I have been waiting for these vehicles to arrive in the USA for 6 years now and am excited about their arrival. BTW, totally with you on the door closing sound. It's part of why when I first saw your videos, I thought...OK this guy gets the user experience. We have a Chevy Bolt EV, and when you close the hatch, it sounds like I am slamming a plastic lid on a plastic trash can. I always worry if I'm going to break the mechanism some day. These things matter, and also a solid door sound tells me the materials are solid. I have some solid materials that will help protect me from a side collision. So please keep giving us the door closing sounds!
i was lucky enough to be one of the first people to drive it on public road and i must say how impressed i was with the quality of drive. it really felt like driving on butter. it feels like driving small id.3, not a whole buss. smooth, but snappy, very obedient. it also looks cool af.

This is by far the coolest car VW makes at the moment. Awesome! Glad to see some software updates and improvements to the interior quality. Can’t wait for physical buttons on the steering wheel to return!
Fantastic review as always guys. The door closing sound is an integral part of the review and tells the consumer so many things as you state. I recently had to put my VW Golf in for a minor repair and got a Toyota CHR as a courtesy car. A quick Autogefühl door closing test told me the car was of poor quality, this was backed up by scratchy plastics in the cabin.
Even with the LWB, you're shorter than many estates/station wagons, so that wouldn't scare me away. It is a pity regarding the 2nd seat row being fixed though... could be nice to be able to remove them and/or turn them around (face to face) for a more limo-feeling for the passengers, or just eating together while camping. It also makes it sound like the rumoured "ID.Buzz California" is still far in the future. Multivan is still easier to customise. Otherwise I'm really in love with the Buzz, neat and compact, drives like a sedan and you still have more space than in an SUV.
The door closing feeling is very important. It's one of the things that separate European brands from the rest. It needs to feel heavy, tactile and precise, and the sound can not have any metal hollow ring to it. It needs to sound heavy and compact, like if it's stuffed with sound proofing material, which it probably is.
Is the short wheelbase version still missing the openable rear windows and air vents? Those are probably the main reasons I'm thinking of the LWB over SWB...

Agree, this is the advantage of pure EV Platform...more inner space. The short Version is only 4.70m...shorter than a Passat B8 with 4,78m...but has deeper cargo space than a VW Multivan on ICE Platform with 4.97m...the engine in the front costs a lot of space inside.
Extra power from AWD will help if you regularly haul a full load of people and stuff, weight adds up quickly in a big vehicle like this (I own a 2002 Chevy Suburban with a 5.3L V8 and can feel the difference with 7 people and all our stuff on a road trip).
Since you always have your stick handy, some Isofix measurements would be handy! Either the distance between the inner isofix points. (Or outer to outer.) In a car like my Enyaq it is impossible to sit between the child seats or fit a third one, as the isofix points are so close to each other.
Trivia. The FORD / Mercury Products of the mid 70’s door closing sounds are so satisfying. Example 1975 Mercury Marquis sedan. Compared to a GM 4dr Sedan not so satisfying of a door closing sound. I had a ‘73 Fleetwood and a ‘75 Marquis 4 dr. The ford Products doors were so balanced and easy to close with a nice closing sound. Ok Rant over lol😅
@kahafb The inside of the concept looked amazing. Seats could be turned around to face eachother. There was a centre rail with what looked like a centre table. Seemed huge inside and the use of space was quirky. Now it just looks like any SUV inside. The same crossover/SUV issues too where the larger car isn't proportional to the increase of usable space. The seats don't lay flat enough to be a minivan/people carrier replacement. Not to mention that the concept had a steering wheel that retracts into the dashboard when not in use. Typical concept vs reality, unfortunately. Amazing ideas are used to get people hyped then completely ignored for the actual product. Underwhelming
Excellent review, thank you. We really like the design of the Id Buzz and some great colours. All the other electric cars are just boring in comparison. This looks like fun and quite special because of the Kombi heritage. Other electric car manufacturers do not have any heritage as 20 + years ago they either did not exist or were cheap junk. We have a T6.1 Multivan in Lwb which is so practical. The Id Buzz will make an excellent addition 👌
I live in Korea. Hyundai and Kia are family. So they share a lot of parts. But ppl prefer to buy Kia. Cause of door closing feelings. Kia has more heavy sound than hyundai.
What Taiwanese flag? Is there such a thing? That is the flag of Republic of China. People live in the Republic of China speak Chinese. What's so "flex" about that?
Not sure what you mean, the viewers of our Chinese language UA-cam channel are almost all from Taiwan what you can very well see in analytics. One reason is ofc that UA-cam is blocked in mainland China. For mainland China, we do offer the locally known/famous social media platforms as well as a separate service.
When VW puts the new Tiguan’s steering wheel (with actual buttons), this will be a compelling package. Longer term, optimizing the infotainment for better user experience will make the car (almost) perfect.
Its pretty ridiculous how long its taken VW to being this to the US. Im very confused what they are doing over here. Their models are very uncompetitive in nearly every segment they are in. They have been here for decades and have very very little to show for it. Their sales are very very low comapred to the competition for many of their models. I genuinely am very confused that they are still selling cars over here to be honest. They only seem interested in offering their most expensive models these day here. Its very irritating to see so many brands to choose to sell lass cars but for higher profits. They all seem to be "moving up market" as they always say. We dont need these cars to move upmarket. We need affordable cars. Edit: See this is what Im talking about. The interior is plastic fantastic. Trying to compete with American brands for how much cost cutting they can do on the interior. And for such a high price point as well.
Wow! Nice 7 seaters. IMHO, this vehicle is good for the family for traveling. When traveling you have more time enjoying the trip, I believe no issue on waiting during recharging the EV. I'm not sure why the front wind screen requires the big pillars on both sides, unless like previous older models, the pillars was there to accomodate the swivel type of mirrors that can be opened to allow fresh air coming inside the cabin without much wind drag. 😅
Door closing sound is important. YOu can hear hte build quolity of the car if the sound proofing is good and hte feel of a premium car or not. Toyota prius has one of the worts door closing sound in my opinion. And thats not a premium car,
I may be wrong here, but 36:30 when the right side sliding door is open.. it's covering the charging hatch right? It may just be the camera angle and I hope I am wrong.
was a huge part of the review, I did an extra part specifically showing the turning circle and talking and showing it again in the driving part plus an extra live parking demo
The middle row seats in my 2017 Odyssey are removable and they are really heavy. I understand they have to be sturdy for durability and crash performance, but they will kill your back if you aren't careful. Would like to see car companies offer a light weight seat option for a premium. I'll pay $1000 for seats that don't weight 70 lbs.
Nice test! It would be great to know the specific options on the tested car. I am configuring one and am in doubt if I should choose the option for noise dampening windows, and here it is really relevant if the wind noise remarks are for a model with or without this.
Great review. Is that sunroof blackout or dimmed? I’d like to get that option but I’ll be sleeping in it when camping so worried too much light would come through.
At ~13:44 I think you missed one feauture of the removable center console? It looks like there is a storage compartment in the bottom of the unit? (I gues a sliding one) Would be odd if they didnt utalize the whole thing. Also, 100%with you on the door closing sound, thats really important. Great review, good job! 😊👍
Very strange VW didn't make the second seat row removable. We're also a family of 5 but with our big dog. Currently in our T5 we have the bench seat near the back so we have lots of space for our dog to sit in the middle in his basket and we can keep an eye on him. But this is also useful for bikes, shopping, kinderwagen, bringing your grünschnitt to the local tip etc etc. Not being able to do that is rubbish.
Yep. I'll be sticking with a Pacifica with Stow "n Go seating. They all fold flat into the floor, perfect for cargo/furniture hauling or short camping trips. VW screwed up here. It's a damn minivan, people use them for utility.

I think our headrests are designed in a way that when they're down they have minimal blockage of rear view

Cool that they make the sliding door longer. I wish this would come in a LWB Cargo version.
Yes, door closing sound is important.
It's a smaller van than others but they way they used space is incredible it looks spacious enough.
don't get fooled by the wide angle lens of the camera. you have to check with your own eyes.
6:25 using subtitles, the word reliability is misspelled.
Such a funny detail, even funnier if it's actually unintended.
It is wild to me that this car is STILL not for sale in the US. I feel like we've been hearing about it for a decade.
they are waiting for tesla chargers, better roll out if people can supercharge.
there's a waiting list at the dealership already. There's going to be a substantial dealer markup for a while whenever it becomes available in the US
The markups are insane.
I once witnessed at a Toyota stealership.
40.000 USD markup for a RAV4 🤡
I have been in that car before it was so cool i also feel the weight and could seat much higher than other suv ❤
Not an EV fan, but I would definitely buy this when it's in the US. I hope the US models have removable 2nd row.
I think this is the one of the best looking ev in my opinion if not the best🤩👍
Extra power from AWD will help if you regularly haul a full load of people and stuff, weight adds up quickly in a big vehicle like this (I own a 2002 Chevy Suburban with a 5.3L V8 and can feel the difference with 7 people and all our stuff on a road trip).
I love the iD Buzz 🤩
Since you always have your stick handy, some Isofix measurements would be handy!
Either the distance between the inner isofix points. (Or outer to outer.)
In a car like my Enyaq it is impossible to sit between the child seats or fit a third one, as the isofix points are so close to each other.
Unveiling the VW ID Buzz LWB - shaping the future of family vehicles!
solid sounding doors is a thing 👍
love the LWB model ive ordered the standard swb one 2 months ago, estimated delivery is early November 🤞
enjoy !
I just can't help but be disappointed by how this van ended up
What kind of things disappoint you about it?
Thank you so much! Please recommend / share our channel and our videos 🙏
I live in Korea. Hyundai and Kia are family. So they share a lot of parts. But ppl prefer to buy Kia. Cause of door closing feelings. Kia has more heavy sound than hyundai.
New song is born, "You're so far away from me" 😃
0:48 haha putting taiwanese flag for chinese language. Such a flex
36:22 does the sliding door stop earlier when you are using the charging port? Why did they design it so the charging door is being blocked? :O
good point. I gotta try that
Same w my Pacifica. I need to see if the sliding door stops before running over gas port
Did anyone test the charging of the bigger battery yet?
On another car, on another video. I.D.7
GTX’s front design is MUCH BETTER, too bad it’s not coming to U.S.
Very much looking forward to seeing these arrive in North America🎉 hopefully there is a model that gets 300+miles
well he said in the video the biggest battery they can fit is the 86kwh, there simply isnt room for more.
@danielstefanovic2604 ah, wish they at least put a 95+kw battery for that size of vehicle...
@@R56CooperThat might happen within 5 years. Stellantis at least could fit 98 kwh on an ID 4-sized crossover.
Ahhh! This looks great
Quite a big car for European streets so I'd recommend mentioning the turning circle in your review and if they differ between the awd and rwd versions
was a huge part of the review, I did an extra part specifically showing the turning circle and talking and showing it again in the driving part plus an extra live parking demo
Data and facts comment plus video description also contain the exact figures of swb vs lwb turning circle!
I want one, but not sure I can afford it. Plus I really want my next EV to have LFP batteries and longer range. Maybe Gen 2 will be for me.
Very cool van
The US Department of Transportation argues, that a longer head restraint reduces the risk of whiplash injuries
interesting!
Nice test! It would be great to know the specific options on the tested car. I am configuring one and am in doubt if I should choose the option for noise dampening windows, and here it is really relevant if the wind noise remarks are for a model with or without this.
Thanks 🙏 defo need to pick that
Do we know when the California (camper) version will be available for ID Buzz?
Now they say it does come at some point but unknown when. They have been going back and forth with the decision
Great review. Is that sunroof blackout or dimmed? I’d like to get that option but I’ll be sleeping in it when camping so worried too much light would come through.
About the doors, i thought you had worked as a chauffeur, that you had a fleet of cars, limousines, that sort of thing..
Lea is so cute 🥰
At ~13:44 I think you missed one feauture of the removable center console? It looks like there is a storage compartment in the bottom of the unit? (I gues a sliding one) Would be odd if they didnt utalize the whole thing.
Also, 100%with you on the door closing sound, thats really important.
Great review, good job! 😊👍
yeah could be!
Goodbye Volkswagen is a symbolic message on that display.
I think all passenger cars with rear seats should have tray tables. Place to eat/work/play, etc. Just Smart. Especially on people movers.
Airbag in the seats perhaps prevents that.
