Can we justify the less pay of a psychiatrist as compared to a surgeon by the risks a surgeon takes while operating on a patient? I mean a minor mistake could cost the life of a patient.
I think so .I think it could be the risk, could be number of years surgeons put also into training. Most of them spend more years in super specialisation etc. There could be many more reasons too.

Hey, thank you so much for the comment. I personally feel residency is tough irrespective of the branch choice. There are several support systems in place to help out if your going through emotional experiences within psychiatry. Main thing is to like the branch is what I feel. All the best for your future endeavours.
I want to pursue psychology but I don’t think it has much job security . What is your take on this . I have very less time because I am in 10th so if I would choose psychiatry then I have to do neet preparation
Also some people say that the counselling will be done my psychologist and I would have to just suggest medicines . But I really want to connect and heal is it true ?
Hi Anjali. Thanks for the wonderful question. Mental health problems have existed since ancient times and will not go anywhere unfortunately. This means that psychiatry will exist irrespective of the controversies that surround it. It does have few unique challenges unfortunately. I encourage to meet few psychiatrists and psychologist and do good research before committing to a career choice.
As a psychiatrist we do therapy aswell. Some problems are more psychological and will need therapy for sure.

Ma'am I'm very much interested in psychiatry but I'm a very introvert private kind of a person. Not good at "networking". Can I work upon these skills in time ? Or should I stay away from this branch ?How challenging would be to start the private practice ? Also what earning can I expect in initial 2-3 years of private practice ? A rough figure would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Abhishek, thanks for the like and comment. Networking skills is something that can be picked up and you would have exposure during your junior residency for the same. Private practice is challenging initially but the private practioners usually have support groups where they discuss complex cases anonymously and take help as and when required.
