The Razz were the DC-area's best band of the 70's and 80's. My buddies and I went to see them every chance we got. Michael Reidy was the ultimate showman, Doug Tull the powerful back-beat drummer, Ted Nicely the prototypical stoic on base, and Tommy Keene and Bill Craig solid replacements for Abaad on guitar. Loved this group. Sorry, but never said the Abaad Behram version of the band. The Slickee Boys were my other faves.
Yay - I was (w/o expecting success) searching for the Razz's version of Move it (maybe the best I've ever heard) - anyway, glad to see more & more of 'em popping up online! BTW, the band with Abaad was way wilder/more exciting than the band w/o Abaad - you can hear a bit of that here.
Great Band the RAZZ,dig the song writing,& musicianship! should have had a major record deal they should rerelease these along with some live tunes i am sure they have somewhere..
@misterwatson, thanks for the correction. At my age, everything, including the chronology of almost every major event in my not-so-major existence, is a bit off. So be it...The Razz were The Best D.C. band until December 27, 1979, for without Teddy, they weren't ready.
Ahhhh....Mr. Lloyd...everything is pretty good....shame about Sir Tommy Keene....I spoke with him when he played up here in Pittsburgh earlier this year...gotta find the Rockpile set....
Anybody have the recording of the Rockpile show at Univ. Of Md...The Razz set was great...I had it on cassette, lent it out...boy was that stupid...someone post it...
Yep. The Rockpile show. UMD cafeteria. Everyone crowded outside early, rushing to the folding chairs stage front when doors opened. Remember Bill shouting into his guitar (Tele w Humbuckers): vibrating the strings w his voice. Neat trick! So. RIP Michael Reidy. 3/6/24. Cantankerous SOB, bril showman and original visual artist. Foundational DC band.
I think Bill Craig was always there and Tommy Keene replaced Abaad. I liked them better with Abaad but they were still good with Tommy. On a side note I saw Bill Craig perform at a benifit, I think for Tex Robinowitz?,at Outta The Way Cafe in Rockville/Gaithersburg.
Bill Craig is (and was) a super nice guy. It never went to his head that he was in the coolest band in the DC - Mid-Atlantic region. My sister also worked with him at Bloomingdale's in the White Flint mall (in Kensington MD - closed a couple years ago)... she said that he was just awesome to work with.
R.I.P. Michael i will always have fond memories of you and working with Razz! Love from Schmite.
Saw them open for Roxy Music at the University of Maryland in 1975...and regularly at Bogarts near DuPont Circle, great band.

Just read obituary. Not heard of band before. Oh yeah baby, he really had it going on! RIP.

Thanks for the memories. I used to see Razz play at NVCC and elsewhere around the DC area. Love this song.

New Year's Eve show at the Psychedelly in the early '80's is still the best show I ever saw. Certainly the best "unknown band" of all time!
RIP Reidy.

love these guys....reidy, abaad
I think this particular song sounds better at 1.25 speed rather than Normal...
1999 show -- it ain't 1977 but it still rocks. ua-cam.com/video/HSGjpsSRveg/v-deo.html
And, yeah, Buddah 186 is correct - Bill was with both versions of the group, w/ or w/o Abaad.
