    I bought one of these a while back, never shot it. Took it to the range today and it was a hoot! Shoots great, i used iron sights and it grouped fantastic. Had no issues with #4 buck. Had 5 and 10 round mags run great no hangups.

    Great seeing you and your son out together, shooting and having a good time. A guy I work with bought one of these for his first gun , he had issues with his. So we shot some higher fps rounds to get it running, not sure how many he tried himself. Now it runs better , he hasn't complained. Been too cold here to go to a outdoor range

      Most of the Turkish shotguns that I have shot have required a break-in period and I'm glad to hear that your co-worker's shotgun is running much better. My son and I enjoyed making this video and we thank you for watching it.

    Great review. I have one, and it has been 100% with full power loads. It doesn't like low powered ammo, the manufacturer recommends 1,300 fps or greater for best results. Seems pretty well built too, all steel internals. Not that easy to take down and clean, but for a home defense gun it is quite good I think.

  • @thegreatguru1985
    @thegreatguru1985 8 місяців тому +6

    Now that's a home defense shotgun. I like that. The price won't break the bank and it seemed to run just fine once you got away from Winchester loads.
    I've heard other folks have had trouble out of there ammo before.
    I'd diffently buy one . A bit on the heavy side but that'll help with the recoil.
    Good review guys. I always enjoy your videos. Your all the time trying out different guns and ammo. Help's a person decide if he or she for that matter weather 🤔 to buy a certain gun or not.
    You guys have a great place to shoot. Wish I had such a place. Anyway, well done.
    Have a great weekend 😀. Peace 🙏

    They have some interesting shotguns. One of my kids bought one that is a multi-function gun. It has different barrels, mags, and stocks in the case. You could take it to the range in the morning and shoot a 3-gun match, then go shoot a round of sporting clays, then set it up for a bedside gun in the evening.

    As much as we want to blame the Winchester White Box, in my experience with my Franchi Affinity 3, 26" barrel, 1200 FPS is right at the very bottom of the velocity scale to operate it properly. I use it primarily for dove & quail hunting so I do alot of 2.75" field loads (1 and 1/8 oz or 1 and 1/4 oz) typically #6 or # 7&1/2 shot with zero issues.

    I think some folks got the idea this REALLY IS for lefties. NEVER!...
    It's fired from the right shoulder. It's designed so the right hand does fire control (safety and trigger), the left hand does feeding and function (mag exchanges, charging handle). Enjoyed the videos, 180 yard shots were impressive!

    I like the length of a traditional mossberg pump. I'm not tactically clearing rooms, even for home protection, its never been an issue for me training even in tight spaces with snap caps going from a small closet to bedroom to view down hall out the door. All that said this thing seems pretty cool. I like bullpups from a cool engineering standpoint, full length just feels natural to me for some reason. Was this before the KSG from keltec?

    • @mixup98
      @mixup98  9 місяців тому +2

      You certainly can't go wrong with a Mossberg pump shotgun, which is what I prefer when it comes to shotguns. I don't know which came first, the KSG or the FD12 shotgun but maybe one of my viewers will know the answer.

    Nice vid Mix! (No beam in tho....) I hope this works well for you. The semiauto shotgun is a platform that, in my experience, is really not for compromises. They can be picky to run. I stick to Mossberg, Beretta, or maybe older Remy. FN or Benelli too but $$. It is a cool looking shotty tho.
    I loved the "I bet you had a good teacher"... "The best" interaction too. Your son is a very good shooter, it makes sense that Dad taught him well.

    It's good to y'all posting vids again! Is it my imagination, or does the design give it more recoil over a standard design?

    • @mixup98
      @mixup98  9 місяців тому +3

      You would think with the weight and being a semiauto that recoil would be less than a pump shotgun, but the FD12 seems to produce more recoil. I would guess it has to do with the ergonomics or the short length.

  • @Boneless_Chuck

      "Well-made" is a relative term for this class of Turkish-made firearm. As far as Turkish 12 gauge bullpups go, it's, um, well-made if you get a good one.

    Another great day for shooting in Nevada! I may head out to the range today, but it’s 30 and there’s snow on the ground here.
    My Citadel Boss 25 didn’t like Winchester either, federal field and target 1200 fps ran great, and slugs and buckshot sometimes would make the bolt outrun the mag spring, and it would jam on chambering.

Researched this problem and found an answer.Cock the weapon and leave it in this position for a week or so, unloaded. This worked for mine. Bought mine at the low end of $300. Shop around if interested. Being a southpaw, I ordered a lefty variant. The FD12 does need a good break in period and a good cleaning afterwards. I wouldn't bet my life on this firearm, but is rather made for the tacticool look and for blowing up stuff. Lots of fun to shoot! It is heavy, but doesn't feel overly so. Unfortunately, there are no replacement parts for this gun, and if a part breaks or fails, it will make a good wall hanger.

    I love bullpups in any platform, just makes sense. I've been looking into one for home defense. After researching and talking with some owners, I found it's best to disassemble, clean and properly lube. Then bolt locked back under spring tension and set it in a corner for about a week. After all this the bullpup was then reliable even with the sub 1200fps. Hope this helps. Good stuff!

    I think RIA VRBP-100 or Tokarev TBP 12 are essentially same gun as this one with different chasis.
    They cycle the light rounds much better when you leave the magazine fully loaded and press down the springs for few weeks

    Additional information:
    White box Winchester generally doesn't run in automatics regardless of brand.
    The most functional cheap/bulk ammo readily available is red box Federal birdshot.
    I have right at 2000 rounds through mine at this point and have had no mechanical issues.
    I have all drums for automatic shotguns, and some are better than others, I don't consider them reliable enough for defense. Magazines available for these are 3, 5, 9, 10, & 19 round. The 19's are only made by Rock Island for competition, and very reliable.
    These guns are a lot of fun and can be tuned for reliable self defense pretty easily.
    There were left hand versions of this gun made. The charging handle is ambi for preference as opposed to handedness. I run mine on the left to I can keep my hand on the trigger and grip while staying on target in a mag swap or malfunction clear.

    That thing does throw some hurting down range. I have a tactical version and I do agree they are heavy.

    They're Turkish guns. Got to strip them down and clean them out before shooting. They come with some thick grease to prevent rusting. I do it to all my Turkish shot guns. Stripped down, clean and oil, rack the gun 500 times, and store it with the spring under tension for a couple of days. Shoots like a champ... even with low brass.

    Apparently the gun doesn't like light loads so it could just be that but I did see another review mention something that could explain the malfunctions: apparently tapping the mag after insertion can cause malfunctions (the mag actually goes in a little too far).
    It seems like you tapped it in harder the first 2 times, then the last time seems lighter and ran fine.

    These Turkish shotguns run better with brass shells on the break in period. From what I've heard you use high velocity types to break it in good before it works successfully. Thanks for posting and sharing. ♠️🎩🎯🎱🇺🇸🏁🇮🇱🇺🇦🌻🔱💮🌸🌼🏴‍☠️🏹

    Hmm. What went wrong with the first round of shells? Inconsistent propellant load = not enough gas to cycle the bolt?

    Most of the automatic 12 ga shotguns are quite sensitive towards the ammo they are being fed with. The only two exceptions that I know of are Saiga 12 and Vepr 12. These two guys can eat any type of ammo, including reloaded brass shells loaded with black powder...

      Thanks for the quick reply, sir. I bought one new a couple of years ago. It came with two mags; one 5 round and one 3 round . Picked up 2 extra 9 round mags but have yet to break it in. After watching you and your son, I will definitely be bringing it out once it warms up a bit. Cheers.@@mixup98

      @@01rcpena A .410 bullpup shotgun sounds pretty cool but unfortunately .410 ammo is extremely hard to find, at least in my area. Thanks for watching and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    That's a really neat looking shotgun! Someone else on UA-cam was shooting that same Winchester ammo and his gun didn't like it much either and the shell bases showed deformation where they were unsupported in the chamber. Looks like they might be aluminum and pretty soft...so I suspect that's more the issue than the velocity as the recoil impulse with them should have been close enough to the others that it should have run them just as well.
    The only gripe I've seen with box mag fed shotguns is that the shells can deform if you leave them loaded for long periods of time. Shotgun shells are designed to stack end to end and are very strong in that direction while in a box magazine the spring pressure can make them flatten a bit which might cause malfunctions. The Saiga's with extended mags were mentioned by a buddy who has one and left the mags loaded for months and the shells had squished a bit. Might be something to consider if you're planning on keeping one loaded for home defense.
