Unfortunately there is no official live-concert recording with a better sound quality, but that girl who recorded this with her phone is a hero, because this is such an epic performance! ❤️🥰
There is a recording for every song that night but this is the one that always gets watched. I like Telephone since each one of them are showcased. The chair song was pretty awesome too.

For all its faults, this is by far the best version of this song. Mitch was in a special place that night and killed it big time.
There is a MV to this but Mitch doesn't go off on it like he does this one. That is why it is requested so specifically all the time.

Actually, I used to much prefer the live version over the official one (and still do, but not as much) until I realized how well you can hear Avi's overtones. I know people have mentioned this before, but haven't seen a detailed description. Avi can literally sing two notes at the same time; one his low bass note and the other a high whistle tone that sounds very electric. You can really hear that in the official Aha! Video. BTW, it seems you've given PTX a pretty long break from your channel when there's so much more to hear!
There is an official video for this song. The vocals aren't nearly as crazy amazing sounding as this performance, but the video is awesome!
Mitch admitted to having a few Red Bulls before this show, which undoubtedly contributed to his phenomenal performance. But let's face it, Mitch is incredible in any and every performance!

♥ Here's the story as I understand it from other Pentaholics. Kevin does a set with his cello during the show while the other four are backstage. When Kevin finishes his set, the other four take the stage while Kevin puts his cello away. That's why you only see the four at the start of the performance.
The story goes that Mitch was jetlagged from the insane travel schedule and drank a couple of Red Bulls during the break. Apparently, they kicked in during this performance of Aha. It really does give you wings.
Actually, over watched the other songs from this concert and they are all great. The whole group was having an incredible synergistic night.
the studio version is like a telling a ghost story kind of video, the audio may be a little off cause Avi blew the speakers but you got him hitting the basement with those notes, mitch on the floor moving towards the audience and then Mitch's high note taking off the ceiling, i can take an audio malfunction just to see all that happen
I'd say core of the planet, not just basement. He freaking blew the speakers on this song! It's why it's fuzzy on the deep notes

Doing all the syncopated background parts is hard to do in a studio environment where you can do it over and adjust things electronically in mixing. The difficulty of doing this live is about a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. Crowd noise, sound delays (just a fact with sound traveling through cords and wi-fi) the adrenaline of being in front of a crowd, and anything else that can happen live, this is a whole other level talent and discipline. If any of them get off track or off beat doing this song it could turn into a train wreck in a hurry. I don't think there are too many people, outside of these special five, that could do this and do it that well.

Great reaction! When Avi hit those low notes at the concert I was at the whole arena shook! I'm sure everyone has already mentioned, Avi suggested the choral segment at the beginning to give Kevin time to put away his cello from the prior number. When Avi starts his deep drop, Mitch and Scott moved to the center, and Kevin came onstage next to Scott. That's the only negative for this video - we never get to see Kevin since the recorder focused so much on Mitch. It's just weird hearing all the crazy stuff Kevin is doing, but not see him.
There is a music video for this and it is pretty cool but it's much softer. Mitch just kills it in this performance
The MV doesn’t have Mitch going bat-$hit crazy (after 2 Red Bulls) but it clearly brings Avi’s magnificent baseline to the forefront. Worth a watch IMO, try to stay focused on Avi and not the MV storyline. I feel like so many reactors get caught up in the visuals and don’t notice Avi’s bass. 🤙🏻
Fun! You should watch the official Aha video too, they totally play up the haunting / creepy vibe. Kevin tries to look creepy but honestly he just looks like a big teddy bear ❤️❤️❤️

I saw them perform this live in Toronto and you can feel that low note of Avi's literally right through the middle of your chest, I shit you not. Lol
Exactly!! What phone??? And the bass is always rumbly because I've read that Avi broke the speakers and they couldn't handle his lower notes. There is a studio version but you'll barely recognize the song. Mitch is definitely on fire and at the top of his game. I've seen this a million times and still enjoy it.....
Also, the canned version seems to have Mitch.. muted, is the best word for how it sounds. 🤷🏼♀️ This version is by far the best. 😁
There is an official video of this that is worth while. If you react to it, be sure you run it to the very end. Also listen to Avi’s overtone singing.

As much as everyone swoons (rightly so) over Mitch, can we talk about Avi going so low he blows out speakers?

It sounds like Avi blew at least some of the speakers in the arena with that insanely low note to cause the fuzzy sound later on.
I have heard that the low notes that Avi hit at the beginning of this clip blew out some of the speakers at this venue which added to the poor audio quality. Petatonix really needs to travel when possible with all of their own special speakers to keep this from being a hinderance.

They performed Telephone that night. I think you would enjoy it. Telephone is the first song they performed together. It was their audition song for the Sing Off.
I hate that the performance of ‘Telephone’ from the same concert doesn’t get as much recognition as this cause I reckon it’s another 🔥🔥🔥 performance & Mitch delivering that ridiculous high note in it is phenomenal 😁
This is a must see for all PTX fans. There is a an official video and I'm in the minority of preferring the official video. I love the performance value of this, but I love the story line of the official video and that I can understand the lyrics better. Please react to that one if you can.
There is another live performance. the sound quality is excellent. Its "ptx concert aha 4 5 seconds" I keep it in my library so I can listen to it whenever.

So surprised you haven't done this yet. I'm just in the middle of the reaction but had to pause to comment. I've seen PTX many times (Avi years - still haven't seen live with matt YET!) and the ONLY time I would sit down was during THIS SONG, - you don't hear Avi you FEEL AVI! 💚 It's epic and never disappoints!!!!
Avi broke the sound system 😂😂😂 I think Mitch might have helped that one on the other end... Studio version isn't going to give you Mitch hopped up on red bulls and jet lagged.
There is a video but more restrained. Avi does do some overtone singing in the studio video. The bass “explosion” was caused by Avi blowing out the venue speakers.

As much as I love this performance of Aha, I think a better quality one is the Christus Factus Est/Aha! (3/19/15). The sound and visual quality is better imo. But they are all fabulous...it's Pentatonix!!! Thanks for your reactions and appreciation of this marvelous group!

There is a video where he is not seen as well. The audio is better, BUT it misses the Mitch slap. I watched it, and was fairly unimpressed. It is pretty hard to find.

Is there a better version? No. Is there a studio version? Yes. Not that the studio version is bad but Mitch doesn't pop off like this in the studio version and you can hear Avi's overtone singing better than you can here because Mitch shines so brightly on this live performance. Definitely give the studio version a shot!
Actually, for whatever reason, your version of this is showing as much better visual quality than usual in these reactions. I'm now thinking a small hand-held videocam rather than a cell phone, and other reactors must be compressing the original video when they play back in the reaction videos. Yes, the official video for this is a little horror film - lots of fun, but doesn't have Mitch on Red Bull, so it's not as visceral voocally, especially near the end when Mitch totally Goes Off. (This may have been the same evening, recorded in one of the PTXperience videos, where Mitch and Scott were tearing around backstage with an electronic fly zapper. Jet lag plus Red Bull makes a couple of over-stimulated young guys ...)

Here's the story of this song: the previous song featured Kevin on the cello, so he was backstage putting the cello away during the choral opening. He came back on stage (not seen on camera) right at the point that Avi hit that low note that started to shred the Star Vista Theater sound system. Mitch was suffering from jet lag, so during a break earlier in the show, he drank two Red Bulls back-to-back. As Aha began, Mitch's Red Bulls kicked in, and he proceeded to go completely INSANE on stage while Avi continued to JOYOUSLY shred the sound system in the background. And thus, you have the live performance that MANY Pentaholics consider to be the finest of their career, all made even more legendary by the fact that it now seems was only captured by this fan video!!

That's not correct. See Jennifer James' comment below. The person who shot this focused so much on Mitch, he never showed that Kevin was right next to Scott.
@@charlottevan_8 oh cool never new that. Figured it was Scott because I've seen him take over the beatboxing duties when Kevin is sick or can't be there for some reason Scott also does the base when Matt is singing they can all jump back-and-forth their incredible.
@@jacob4183 Scott had to learn how to do all that after Avi left. Until then Avi and Kevin were a very tight team. Kevin has said Avi could even tell when Kevin had to take a breath and would automatically cover the beatboxing.
