Great thing about Hollis and Nancy's videos (besides being a nice Christian couple) is that each vid takes you from seedling to harvest. I love having a cup of coffee and watching each of their journeys.
I'll second that 👍👍
Watching with my coffee now 😊
@@MrsLovelyPendragonone year later me too. 😂
Video started with a ZZ Top shirt and some seeds...ended with beautiful Veg and SRV.....what's not to love about this humble and helpful man? Thank you sir!
Rock on brother 🎸🎸🎸
I over-buy seeds too! We should start a support group. "Hello, my name is Ke Le. I'm a seed-aholic."
I'm so glad you pointed out that this variety is not bitter. That's a big deal! Thank you! And thank you Nancy for the amazing videography!
Once again, perfect timing! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. 😊
Ping-tung, Taiwan is my home town. I also got the seeds from Baker Creek seeds last year and the eggplants were great for cooking. I'm growing more this year!
4:03 My goodness, such a beautiful property!!!
Thank you for your time & effort making these videos! God has blessed you both with the talent & knowledge to educate us. I want you to know we appreciate what it takes to make these videos. As a fellow UA-camr, I know the time it takes. Many Blessings to you both! Love you guys ❤️
This is my first year growing on my own and it’s been difficult so I’m having a bit trouble. I come to your site and watch your Videos and even though I’m still having difficulties you are helping a lot.
You are doing a great job. Never give up. You will get a little better each time you grow something. God bless you ❤️❤️🐶
I love seeing your property and how you have it organized so neatly. Great homestead
I love your videos. I feel like I’m standing right next to you both, watching and learning so much. God bless you both!
I truly enjoy your channel. You're the reason I'm going into my second year of gardening ( pandemic gardener). The potatoes in a bucket video peaked my interest and then my dad just set things in motion by creating a section in my yard. Thank you so much because I didn't know how much I needed gardening in my life. Thank you and have a blessed day!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I truly appreciate the help you provide.
Love eggplants stirred fried with pork. Thanks! Enjoy your videos!
👍👍👍
I am giving eggplant a try again this year with several varieties, havent had much luck in the past as bugs got to them but I like eating it so will try to stay on top of them. May add this variety to next years list as it certainly has a nice look to it.
The start to finish aspect of your well edited videos are unique & much appreciated. Then to end it with thanks to God & scriptures gives a beautiful blessed conclusion that always leaves me feeling God's grace & love. Thank you, Hollis & Nancy!!!! :)
My favourite vegetables. Thanks you are the best.
Thank you for sharing. Do you fertilize your eggplants during the growing season?
Thank you Hollis & Nancy from Montreal Canada. You are lucky to be in Florida and get gardening so early.
nice eggplants - excellent video
Hi Hollis, Nancy & Bing Bing. I have enjoyed watching your video's. You have given me the confidence to grow my own veggies. I live here in Florida also and hate this soil. My dad can grow anything but I just usually watch him grow stuff, but now I am trying to grow stuff too. I started with your potato video and my husband is waiting with knife and fork to dive in. I love your build videos too! "Now that is something I can do!" I am about to build your 5 gallon bucket container holder and your diagram is the greatest. Thanks for all the guidance and the video's. I will definitely be watching with anticipation on what you grow or build next. God Bless and keep you both!
Not sure if it’s Nancy or Hollis, but somebody is VERY skilled at filming, editing, and creating videos. It’s so professional, you guys really know what you’re doing
Thank you! That is such an encouraging comment. We really needed that. You blessed us. We each film and edit our own videos. Nancy does all the cooking videos and Hollis does all the gardening videos. 👍
I've been following you two for years and have had nothing but success following your advice. I give away what I grow to the local soup kitchen. I'll follow you guys to the gardening end!
With teaching us how to use the 5 gallon buckets makes gardening so much easier to manage. Thank You. No one has an excuse that they can't grow something to eat.
We pray for everyone during these terrible times. We hope folks will start some gardening even on a small scale. We hope all gardeners will plant some extra to help others. Praying for our country 🙏
BingBing is such a sweet dog. Very cute. I am very much a dog guy myself 👍🏻🤩
Bing Bing is like a child to us. We love him deeply ❤️🐶❤️
And yet again another awesome video! I watch a lot of garden videos because I don’t really watch regular television. I play them in the background as I’m doing chores and planting my own seedlings. I can’t believe I haven’t found you before this!
Best kept secret on UA-cam 😂
Thank you both! As always great information and God Bless! Any tips on greenhouse gardening?
I saw the clip of your beautiful lawn. I thought to myself, so cool Hollis is filming at a golf course then I remembered, that’s your yard! Gorgeous turf. Bet it takes a long time to mow it all so aesthetically
You guys are the best, start to finish, I mean seed to harvest😉
Thank you for your videos. Love watching them everyday. God blessed.
My first time with egg plants and tons of your leadership shows me the direction.
I'm seeing perhaps the biggest and most beautiful egg plants ever hopefully I'll like eating them as I've never had tried them but isn't that how we learn what's good.
Always love your seed into vegetables straight through the entire season to harvest.
Thanks Nancy for helping you with helping us viewers and God is with you fine folks Great video again ♥
Thank you sir. Enjoy your garden this spring ❤️
They are beautiful eggplants. Love the watch and learn how to grow vegetables.
Really great video!! I love how you go through step by step in all of your videos. - Rick
Thank you sir❤️
I’ve fallen in love with your content! Thanks for sharing!
Our spring has been slow in coming here on the east coast. We even had a snow squall today. Can’t wait to get out in the yard.
😂 man made weather
Love your videos. What Korean Asian eggplant recipes are your favorites, and can you share them?
Your videos are always so helpful and thorough. I do appreciate them. I would love to see some of Nancy's Korean cooking and recipes.
As always I enjoy your tutorials. I will be growing egg plants this year in buckets.
I learned so much watching this video! Thank you!
Mahalo for sharing! Love eggplant in Tai Curry soup!😋😋 Delicious!
Thank you very much for the lovely informative video. It does make a smile to my face and joy to my heart. Bless you both.
Have a peaceful week ❤️❤️🐶
Awesome video. God bless!
Thank you!
I don't like egg plant to eat but they are beautiful in the garden. This year I'm going to grow them for beauty and I'll give them away.
Thank ypu for showing this I was considering trying this variety.
GOOD VIDEO THANK YOU
Thank you so much!
I learned things. Thanks!
Thanks for watching sir❤️
Your earth garden and irrigation set up are colossal 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏👏😃
Thank you👍
I struggle with pests on eggplant. I am going to try t h e pink tongue and your method. Fingers crossed 🤞
I love your channel. Thanks for all your work.
Your bueganvilla looks great right now. Purpley. With all of the space have you ever considered fostering dogs or horses , mules etc.?
I always wonder what you do about pests? It's March and cabbage turnips..something is eating the whole big leaf?? Your videos are awesome!!
Asian eggplant is so much more delicious. Thank you
Hollis, this may be the eggplant to convince me to grow some. Please ask Nancy if she will do a video of her preparing them. I need recipe ideas.
She has a video coming out soon called Eggplant Lasagna using Ping Tung👍
love the egg plant thanks for sharing that video
Thank you! I just pulled off of mine too. I'm a little South of you and overwintered mine. I had to cover for the freeze, but they are going bonkers now! I would love a recipe in the community area, if you have one Nancy.
New subscriber here: I 😘 ve your contents, and I love how you take us all the way to harvest, I don't think I have come across that in any other garden channels. I watch two or three of your videos every day. I also look forward to the scriptures you tag at the end of all your videos. Hat's off to the editor and producers if your videos. Excellent 👌👍🏾😊
Thank you so much for watching! We hope our videos help you in your garden and bring a little moment of pleasure to your day. Have a peaceful weekend ❤️❤️🐶
Sooo helpful
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Hi, thank you for your videos. Can you put more than one plant per container?
Amen and Amen God is good.
❤️😇❤️
Hollis, do you just let the lower leaves die off on their own, or do you clip them off? Super great educational video. Thanks!!
I let them die off naturally. I do t like to clip them because it provides a place for insect activity and disease
I really love your videos. I’m going to try this.
Thank you for all of the wonderful videos. i found your channel about a month ago and have learned a lot about container gardening. I've always planted in the ground but where I live for now I'm not able to do that. I do have a question. Can you reuse the soil and add nutrients back in it for the next year?
Another wonderful video with another interesting variety to check out. I’ve just discovered Baker Creek seeds this year. I ordered from them and planted some beans called Blauhilde, just to see how they turn out. They have pretty purple pods (hopefully). I think I’m a bit south of you in zone 9b, so when you plant I know I can plant as well 😊. Thank you both for your videos.
My best friend lives and breathes for Baker Creek! We used to live together and we starred a tradition of ordering the catalog and then going through it on the couch like we’re still college students picking through gossip magazines 😆 They have some beautiful seeds that yield delicious food. All blessings for your bean harvest this year!
Nancy do you have long term storage tips that is not kimchi? I have grown the black beauty and frozen and dehydrated them.
Wonderful!
Hi Nancy and Hollis
What is Nancy going to make with them? Whatever it is I'm sure it will be yummy!
Do you put drain holes in the bottom of the buckets for drainage?
I would think wicking buckets would work good for egg plant.
My question exactly! I love this channel and watch almost daily for new videos and mostly to refresh my memory on planting the many varieties of vegetables. I would also appreciate the answer. Thank you and Blessings Hollis and Nancy. ❤️
Tell Nancy we need a recipe for them. Mmmm mmmmmm !
Bing bing official garden inspector….. lol.
He is in charge of Security around here🐶
Do you add additional fertilizer during the growing season?
Always enjoy your videos….. question !!!!, do you ever encounter Cutworms Hollis ????
Awesome video! Never thought you lived in Florida!
Its April 9th, what can i start planting from seed? i live in Central Florida! Thanks!
All spring/summer vegetables and flowers
What brand of bone&blood meal do you use or what brand do you recommend?
Can't find Black kow in Arizona
Hey Hollis! I'm wondering if there is a way to access all your diagrams in one place. Is there such a place? Is it searchable for specific builds? I'm not on Facebook, but maybe they're on a public part of your FB channel? Or somewhere on your YT channel. A website maybe? This is the year I'd like to expand and better my tiny garden. I've been looking at some of your DIY videos. I must have watched the 5 Gallon Bucket Grow Table a dozen times (no exaggeration!). It's genius!! I've shared your YT and FB channels to friends, and pointed out the DIY videos that I thought they would most be able to use. My next door neighbors have a nice little veggie garden going. I bet when he sees me out there making a Bucket Grow Table, he's gonna ask, and I'm gonna tell! I've shared my peppers, tomatoes, and eggplants with them.
Good Morning, how often do you water?
Thank you for this and all your videos so much good indormation!
Ive failed at eggplant two years in a row, flea beetle seems to eat them when they are young and I never get a mature plant.
Does anyone have advice for this? Ive heard growing in container helps since flea beetle doesn't go high. I'm thinking of putting grow bags for this right in my garden. I'd appreciate any advice this community has I'm determined to get some eggplants this year! :) thanks
I've also failed at growing eggplants for a few years by flea beetles until I tried growing them in my raised planter box (the one that comes up to your waist) last year and they flourished. No flea beetle damage and I got many harvests from 1 plant. Good luck :)
Sprinkle Sevin poison powder on leaves late afternoon to early vending cover with a grocery bag for the night, in the morning wash off with water spray and repeat couple times. No more flea beetles.
Pretty
I think so too👍
I’ve never been to Florida. I wonder if you have to deal with a lot of insects. Nebraska is loaded with them.
I have a question. How do you keep your seeds. I have quite a few, and I don't want to store them incorrectly? Please let me know.
Why didn't you add the epsom salt and lime in the container with the eggplants, like you did with the container Roma tomato plants?
When your plants are done do you reuse your soil ?
Spent soil can be saved and amended for reuse
it looks like u added a total of 6 Tbs of Bone and 6tbs of blood?
You guys are so sweet
I found that whenever I use blood meal I have flies show up in my garden like crazy! Does anyone have any tips on how to use it properly so that the flies leave it alone. TIA
It happens some years. Nothing you can do about it
So why do you use the bamboo poles and the tomato cage?
The bamboo canes provide support for the plant as it grows while it is young. After it gets to a certain size it no longer needs the canes and the cages take over. I just leave the canes in place until I remove the plant. I save all my canes for reuse
Hollis: URGENT QUESTION: Can I use 3 gallon? That's almost all I have, and I bought a lot of them! 😱
🙏Amen
What is your favorite Asia egg plant love yall
Did you used to live in NN, VA?
Yes. We moved to Florida in November of 2017
@Hollis and Nancys Homestead I think I've met you. I'm an experienced gardener, but I can no longer get down into the dirt. So I'm bringing the dirt up to me to grow a food garden. Never did much in containers; I'm learning new tricks from you. Thanks for what you are doing.
Yes sir. The older I get the more I like containers. Injured my back last year real bad. I’m still not 100%. Hoping to avoid surgery. Having trouble with both knees for the last few months, especially the left one. Hips are going bad too. Going back to the doctor again tomorrow for more injections. Praying for a healing🙏
@@HollisNancysHomestead Sending you lots of good wishes for your health.
I enjoy your videos. But no thanks on the eggplants. I grew them the last 2 years. We got tired of eating them. And couldn't sell them, and barely give them away.
Just grow less of them the next time!
Maybe you’re retired Military.
No. I retired from Newport News Shipbuilding. I worked Aircraft Carrier Engineering for many year hand in hand with the NAVY. I do however feel like I was in the military after working with them for so long and spending so much time on active duty ships
