Smart idea to creat brackets out of the aluminum supports...thank you. I'll be installing a window using your technique
I own a lot of tools, I mean a LOT. Those oscillating saws are the best thing to come out in 40 years!
Have a cargo trailer use for toy hauler for trips to Nevada desert .. Need windows in it to cool it down ... Perfect video! ...gives me confidence to do it myself...
Impressed with ingenuity of cutting the metal to create solid support
Very informative. Wasn't sure about cutting the structural ribs on the side of my trailer. The way you showed to do the install, makes perfect sense. Thanks.
guys, thank you! we just bought a class A rv that needs a window replacement and were quoted $1300 to fix it. now that i know how easy it is, i am buying an RV window and installing it myself (saving $1150!)
Amber Pennington Happy we could help. Good luck!
3:34 made my stomach turn, when I was a teenager I had a coworker drop a piece of sheet metal on my hand and nearly cut my thumb off.
I have this task to do as well, complicated by the nature of my original build. When I started to watch this I did not expect you would have done anything different. However your approach to the build and the order in which you did things was different, and very helpful in my own planning. Thank you.
I like them. Cute couple
Thanks!
Good job adding the interior support 👍
Thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing this! Much appreciated. You two make a cute couple! Praise be to God! - Have a blessed week! The Mrs. - Tina
I found it very useful, I've not seen another video that made a header out of plywood to support the beams your cutting thru like this. Not that others don't, I've just not seen one. I was thinking i would have to weld some cross bracing on top and bottom, and was worried about the heat peeling paint on the skin if i did. I was thinking just weld the interior face, and pop rivet some homemade L brackets in the four corners of the inside area. Very glad i watched this.
Well hell yeah, I'm doing something similar. Thanks for the good idea of supporting the window frame with the metal ribbing.
I love your wonderful example of yourselves being your most real selves ... inspiring me! Plus showing me exactly how to put in additional windows in my squeaky-new travelling art studio, a 13' 1965 Aristocrat cutie I've named "Art Throb."
I would love to see more videos of the lifestyle you guys have chosen to pursue. It's refreshing to see what the more alternative choose to do with their escape from the rat race. Keep it up!
Excellent video. I'm converting a cargo trailer right now and this really help especially where you show how to build and attach the frame. Many thanks.
Great video. Exactly what I was looking for.
Nice job, thank you for sharing and showing us how to install it step by step!
Looks great !!! Hope you share more videos of your build.
Thx! Starting my windows tomorrow and you made it seem relatively easy. I have skills but have never done the window install.
Great install vid, please document the rest of the build. I am planning on converting cargo trailer to a camper to pull behind my Jeep. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Good job
Cheers, mate. Starting my conversion this summer. Thanks for the vid.
Nice. Very nice to have a garage door tall enough to work inside. I don't have that luxury. I am sticking with windows that fit between the wall studs, but I like how you substituted the plywood to support where the studs were removed.
Wow...you made that insanely easy.
awesome video!!
Thanks for the "how-to" ! Very helpful.
Thank you so much for this 😊 you explained everything so well
Nice..I'm gonna get one of those oscillating saw tools... great build..
Really really well-done video and tutorial, thank you very much, you made my decision to do it myself very easy. WELL DONE.
Thanks! It’s a very doable diy project. Good luck!
Cool, that is exactly what I need for my cargo trailer
I also don't know what to do with my arms sometimes, Thanks for the video!
Yes am very interested in this window installation
You guys are fun thanks for sharing 🇨🇦🙏

Thank you! Happy we could help
Cool! Let's see some more!
Good job guys👍
Great video thanks for the help
Great video. However the wife should wear safety glasses too. Those metal studs can have filings fly off. Awesome project though!
Sub frame for the window...outstanding!@
great job
damn. beautiful work
Really nice work. You da man
Nice job thank you for sharing.
Thanks!
Well done!
Thanks!
Nice vid, thanks
Great way to frame that in without welding in a frame structure around the windows. 👍
More than 2 years later, and it’s held up perfectly!
3:00 *screams in osha*
yep, that was pretty helpful!
Thanks!
Dope placement of your wings. Go airborne!
Spot on, AIRBORNE!

Thanks for sharing. Awesome job. GF1 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😎
you got to do the airborne shuffle and exit the door like a true jumper. I just bought a 20ft car hauler GVWR 9600lbs empty it weighs 3200lbs. My wife and I want to convert it into a mobile home , I hope you continue to post more videos brother. Oh and which unit did you serve in? 1-501st 2002 till 2009 here.
Who needs that framing anyway! Cute woman.
You should rename the video to: installing a cargo trailer on a window
nice movie,,a good woman, best of luck,,
Where did you get this window brother? Nice work
Careful with these metal trailers everyone, seal every hole and SEAL THAT WINDOW WELL.
Nice

Great info, thank you, as noted by others, wife safety should be prime concern.
Thanks! I’ve also noted on previous comments, this type of saw is very safe and is used to cut off casts. Here’s a video of a guy explaining why and pressing the saw to his skin with no injury: ua-cam.com/video/wCweyvsBGM0/v-deo.html
Great video. I'm looking to convert a 7x12 but not the most mechanical person in the world. You made it look easy. Did you put another one on the other side?
We put a smaller window on the other side of the trailer. At the beginning of the video it shows it briefly. It didn't require us to cut any studs though.
Ha you guys are cool! Are you traveling?
Where did you get the window from an what is the size of it ? Didn't see in the description.
hey where did you get your window from? great vid
Kevin Hoag got it from a storm damaged, totaled fifth wheel found on a buy sell trade on Facebook. Guy was parting it out
Can you install windows into my 8.5*24
What are the supplies needed to install the window
I'd be curious to know if there are any issues 4 years after the installation. Made it look easy. Thanks.
4 years later and still no leaks!
what is the width of the trailer? and with regards to this particular window, you're just screwing it into the sheet metal?
Make sure you get your fingers as close to the electric saw. Also consider standing on the other side of a clear material such as Aluminum where your husband can see you.
2 years late… but hey do you have a link to where you got the window?
I know this is an older video,,Just wondering where did you buy the windows? Great tutorial, Thanks for showing,,, Best Regards
Thanks. We got the windows out of a totaled camper that someone was parting out. Cost us $40.
Thank you, nice video! Can you tell me what the last piece of rubber you put around the rubber is, around 4:48?
Calvin Sant , That’s a trim strip / closure strip that hides the screws, comes with the window typically
Trim ring. Comes with the window
Nice job. Most people say they had it installed. What do you think you saved by doing it yourself? Where did you get your window?Again nice job....DING.....
W M We installed two windows. Between the two of them, I'm sure we saved at least $2,000. We posted on our local Facebook buy sell trade asking if anyone had a camper they were parting out and ended up buying the windows for $50 total from a guy that had a tree fall on his camper.
Big savings! And doing it yourself wasn't very hard to do. One fell out while on the road going cross country a long time ago and I found one in a junk windows lot. It was really easy and everyone should think of doing a self install. Again, great vid and thanks for the reply!
hey my friend, I just starting the same project. Can you help me where you got this windows?
Mauricio Femat found a totaled fifth wheel on Craigslist/buy, sell, trade site on Facebook. The guy who owned the fifth wheel was parting it out.
Where u get windows
Good vid! But, silly question, why the tape on the outside if you were planning to cut from the inside?
oldschooldiy catches most of the metal shavings and damper vibration for a cleaner cut
@@kkosm1 I was always taught cutting through tape like that will gum up the blade and it won't cut as effectively! It worked for you, so no problem!
please tell me what is that seal that u used after screwing it in?
Butyl tape
Bro, use and angle grinder with a cutring wheel..
I was thinking the same. Would have cut all that in half the time with straighter cuts.
Angle grinder would damage the wood frame and wouldn’t cut the corners as nicely. Also, I didn’t have an angle grinder at the time
Do you feel that cutting the metal frame compromises the structural integrity of the trailer? Trying to decide if we want to install multiple smaller windows in between the studs, or if it would be okay to cut them and frame them with wood vs a welded metal frame. How has your window setup performed so far?
We have had no issues whatsoever. The wall's structural integrity is still great. Also, we have had no leaks in either of our windows.
You have no idea how good it is to hear that. Also, where did you have luck finding your large, opening window? We’ve been searching everywhere, it seems, to no avail.
Sorry I didn’t see this comment earlier. If you’re still wondering, we took it out of a totaled rv that was being parted out on Craigslist. I don’t know if they still make the window, but the name of the manufacturer is Hehr
Where did you buy the window? I like that style.
We found a camper that was totaled, took the windows out of it, and paid the owner $50. We found the camper by looking on a facebook buy sell trade page.
I'm guessing those are 1 1/2 width?
Pls help!!! Can u share where u bought the window from?? Need contact.
We bought it off of someone who was parting out a totaled camper
Curious why you guys did not use the inner ring?
We bought the window used. It didn’t come with the ring. We ended up making one ourselves.
How well has the window held up without a trim ring?
chargers2960 trim ring was attached around 4:48
@@kkosm1 That looks like some kind of spacer or additional sealer. Trim rings are installed on the inside of the window and squeeze the window to the frame of the trailer.
So you obviously did no welding but you opened that stud to support the weight of the frame. Right?
Yea. We wanted to attach each stud as best a we could to the window frame. It’s worked out really well. It’s been a couple years now and it’s been towed all over the US and there’s been no issues.
hey whats that tool called to cut metal? cheers
multitool
Oscillating saw
Hello what is the cost of the window ? Thank you
We got the window out of a totaled rv on Craigslist that was being parted out. The window cost us $40. A new one would be hundreds
is that a 6x12 ct?
mimi taylor It's a 7x12.
Where did u get the window
Out of a totaled rv we found on Craigslist. The owner was selling the parts
Where did you get the window?
We found a totaled camper on Craigslist that the owner was parting out. We bought 2 windows from him for $40.
Where did you buy this window?
Found a guy on Facebook that was parting out a totaled camper. We pulled the windows out and paid him $40.
Dude they make a cutoff wheel for a grinder
Brett Morrill I thought about using an angle grinder, but that could have damaged the wooden frame and wouldn’t have cut the rounded corners as well as an oscillating saw. It takes longer, but it’s a better tool for the job.
bro im thinking about converting a trailer and i just got anxiety
