I discovered Andreea few months ago shocked how wonderful she is I called her the Celine Dion of this generation and stand by that, this is first time hearing Beatrice and in duet with Andrea on this song is equally as wonderful when I heard Tarja and Floor sing it together as duet. This is now my favorite version of this song! It has elements of both the Gary Moore and Nightwish versions, but the vocal harmonies push it over the top.
Wow! Absolutly perfect! Sorry but this cover version is M U C H better than the original from Nightwish. Andreea and Beatrice have so different voices but they fit absolut perfect together. The combination of them is unbeatable. But also the instrumentalists are great. This is first class music on the highest level. Every note sounds perfect. This sound is out of this world! I've seen both Gary Moore & Nightwish do this song live. Both versions were great. I'm not going to say which is better as i love both versions but naturally the girls are going to sing it in the style of Nightwish as that suits their vocals better. Well done everyone this version rocks too.

What madness! I was at a concert with Gary Moore in 1986. 'Over the hills' was the opener. I think Glen Hughes was on bass and sang. You did so fantastic. Especially the combination of Bea's and Andreea's vocals is awesome. And of course Andrei with his roaring sound. You were all really great. Thanks very much!

I was thinking the same. More Gary Moore than Nightwish. I saw Gary Moore at the Guildford Civic hall back home in England in the late 80's. Never heard of him at the time, got invited to the concert while watching Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure lol.
I also saw Gary on the Wild Frontier Tour in Vienna. It was awesome. I love this song so much and this performance is worth hearing it. All voices and instruments fantastic!

While Nightwish is my favorite metal band, I need to say that this cover video definitively is technically perfectly produced. Kudos to the director, cam, cutter, lights, grips, and everbody involved in the technical production! The Iron Cross rocks!
They have their own record label "The Smokin" Dudes Records" and they produce their own music videos in their own studio. They have total control of the whole production of what you see and hear.

This song is INCREDIBLY good!! Andreea and Beatrice both have fantastic voices. But together they make a whole greater than the sum of its parts. What synergy! As for the best version, I doubt there is a duet version between Gary Moore and Nightwish, but for me if this ever existed, it could have been the overkill version...

Well done. Incidentally this track was covered by Nightwish as far as I know. The original was done by the late Gary Moore on his album Wild Frontiers 1987 ;)

Yepp, but I just wish a lot they would start make their OWN songs asap instead of playing (sure Great, but still just) these many coversions of Other bands songs! If they succeed in doing them great ones too, then they sure can be called a "Supergroup" but Not before, Unfortunately.
you can't go on tour without your own material. cover bands never do anything but play local bars, Fair, and that type of stuff. if they want to go anywhere they have to make their own songs

This is a cover of the Nightwish version. Which was a very, very amended version of a very old English folk/military song about having a drink and ending over the hills and far away. And fighting in the English Army. Have seen original folk song linked to the war of the Spanish succession but that could be wrong. Mind boggles at what Andrei would do with the original song, probably have to channel his inner Fleetwood Mac.
@@stuartbailey9287 It's a cover of the Nightwish version which is a cover of the original version by Gary Moore. This is not an English Folk or Military song. And your whole synopsis of the song is wrong to the point I'm wondering if you're being sarcastic! But the original song is about a guy who was accused of robbing someone, but because he was banging his best mate's wife, he had no alibi to let him off. So he was wrongfully accused and convicted of the crime to protect her honour.

Basically keeps chorus and a lot of the original music but changes the rest of the song and gives a whole new reason for being "over the hills and far away". If people are interested they can find traditional versions (or even version used in Sharpe the TV series) on UA-cam. For people who like to compare covers to original who I assume describes a lot of people who view the Iron Cross they might like to view all four versions partly to see which they like best and also to say when is a cover so different from original that its now a seperate work and only "influenced" by the original? On viewing both again think you would are correct in saying the Nightwish/Gary Moore is not a cover. But if the original was still in copyright (its not!) would make interesting court case.

The "Sharpe TV " song Is based on an old English marching song and is a totally different song, sung by Sharpe actor John Tams. Great songs, but totally different. Iron Cross is a very good version of the song, very enjoyable 😁🏴

Without Beatrice this would have been an ok cover, but she takes this one to the next level! Nightwish are extremely hard to cover, all of the band members are masters in their own rights and although I love Andreea, she's not quite there yet. Beatrice, however, is. Cudos! I'd like to see more Nightwish covers, or ones of Within Temptation songs, with Beatrice as lead singer!
Everybody is doing an excellent job, but I really really love the dual vocals.
