      I hope you're being sarcastic. Some interesting “in-depth review". How fast does the battery drain in freezing temperatures? I'd love to see her buy one with her own money, then do a real review about the bills for repairs and maintenance after one year (not one hour). And then I'd like to know how much it's depreciated. Scotty Kilmer is the only honest car reviewer I’ve found on UA-cam.

    I've had an electric car for 18 months (Zoe ZE40), I'm never going back to petrol, the driving experience is too good. The only thing I don't like about the I-Pace is that the range is less than it should be for the battery size and it uses more energy than it's competitors (Tesla) to go the same distance, this also means charging takes longer per mile. On the plus side it looks fabulous and I am sure it is terrific to drive.

      Advertised here in CA at 240 miles. I’m getting 210. (I hear this is due to jag wanting the batteries to live longer so they go conservative on the software settings. I’m sure the 8 year battery warranty also has something to do with it). There are many generic fast chargers here from LA to San Francisco so it depends where you live. Also you may not want to fast charge daily because battery life expectancy will drop.

    I can certainly understand why there is a certain amount of excitement behind the iPace. But in no way does this compete with the Model X. The Model X is larger in every way, has seven seats, is faster, has longer range and has features like AP that you can't get on the Jag. Perhaps it competes more directly with the smaller Model 3. The iPace is really just a mid sized five-seater hatchback with the bonus of having an air suspension.

      @@joebloggs4191 Would you also say that a Mercedes GLC is a competitor to the BMW X5 even though its more the same size as an X3? The size difference is about the same for I-Pace vs Model-x. If anything its closer to the Model S. But even the S has vastly more space.

    Test drove Jaguar today and I was impressed. Beautiful dashboard and interior. Apple Carplay. But no sunroof, no spare tire, no runflat tire.
    I hated Tesla 3's aggressive regenerative braking (felt like I slammed on the brakes), plain dashboard, and poor ergonomics screen.
    Both EVs have great acceleration but ride comfort was much stiffer (hard) compared to luxury sedan combustion engines from Mercedes and Lexus.

    No doubt that this I-Pace is a good looking car. But an SUV, it is not. It's more of a jacked up hatchback. And paying over £60,000 for a hatchback? Hmmm...

    Can they not make rechargeable battery which can be kept on charge in car , and then when you run out of charge , you can just replace the battery and continue with the journey. Or having an extra battery in car and can be changed easily , rather then looking for the charging points and the spending so much time recharging the battery
    😎

    • @danielhuffman
      @danielhuffman 5 років тому +1

      AunaliBandali Battery swapping has failed in the past due to cost and concerns about reliability of swapped batteries. Having a second battery is nice in theory except for the problem of energy density. Space is limited and maybe that extra battery could take you 20 miles, but then it’s useless. The solution is fast chargers everywhere.

    • @AunaliBandali
      @AunaliBandali 5 років тому

      Fast charger will take approximately 45 mins . That's a lot of time spent travelling . They should provide an extra battery under the bonnet which should give similar mileage, than it will be reasonably ok spending 45 mins charging

    • @danielhuffman
      @danielhuffman 5 років тому +1

      AunaliBandali But making the battery bigger will increase that 45 minutes to 90 minutes. The added weight will decrease efficiency and reduce safety, driving dynamics, tire life, etc. The ICE equivalent would be towing a tank of gas behind you. Not to mention the massive price hike involved with enlarged pack. $70k seems like a lot now, but with your larger battery, expect to pay $130k to save yourself every other stop.
      The real answer is fast chargers. Not the old 50 or 120 kW units, but 350 or 500 kW stations and batteries to support it. Your 45 minutes becomes 7-10 minutes in a lower cost, safer vehicle. And I don’t know many people who wouldn’t want to take a 10 minute break to stretch their legs and use the bathroom every 4-5 hours of driving.

    • @AunaliBandali
      @AunaliBandali 5 років тому

      With that option of 10 mins charging time is perfect . But until then I am not opting for any electric car ... I am better off with Petrol at the Moment .

    it seems so far only Nissan is the cheapest half decent option for people with a lot less money though even those are still expensive compared to normal cars for example you can get the Nissan micra 2018 top spec Tekna model with only 8k on the clock for £12.500 from car dealers yet the 2018 Nissan leaf Tekna model is £25.999 with the same on the clock
    sorry but that's a ridiculous gap in price when its clear from the designs outside and inside that both the new micra and new leaf are more or less the same other than electric and petrol/diesel the electric version may have a few extra bells and whistles but they certainly are not worth a extra £13.500

    • @LiamE69
      @LiamE69 5 років тому

      Your argument would hold more weight if you compared cars from the same class. You are comparing a supermini to a family sized hatchback that is over 2 feet longer, a foot wider, with WAY more interior space, that has twice the torque and does 0-60 in sub 8 seconds vs over 12.
      And that is before you get to running costs and realities like congestion charges which alone can more than pay for the difference over a few years.

    • @marklola12
      @marklola12 5 років тому

      @@LiamE69 well for a start most people do not an will not pay congestion charges since most people do not live in the big cities that have it lol so your argument would hold more weight if you knew what your talking about and still it is not worth nearly another 14k in price ..oh wow more torque who fucking cars when these cars are used for day to day driving lol

    so pretty much everything that was already introduced by tesla couple years ago .. no fuss about exterior (what is so revolutionatry about it? I see nothing Im affraid) , nothing "bold" about it .. sorry that was rubbish .. Ok, I can accept that the interior is maybe more jaguar-ish, but as a concept, tesla is soo different and ahead .. but wait, you can connect your phone :D nice job jaguar.. so overall this is not even in the same league as model X (bold design with that doors, more practical, white interior is killin it absolutly and the interface is miles ahead)
    I understand that you somehow present british car manufacturer in better light, I get it .. but come on .. there are limits, it is far from revolutionary .. to me it is just some car (which happen to be powered by electricity ;)

    Using Jaguar brand for 18+ years and this is my horrible review with the I-PACE.
    I've had a horrible experience with Jaguar's I-Pace. I had the vehicle for a year, and have only been able to drive it for approximately 2k miles. It has had issues with battery, software malfunction, charging system, and even when you would try to start the car it would make noises. Its a shame that Jaguar has tainted its brand with such a problematic car.
    If you want to be walking to places instead of driving, BUY a Jaguar I-PACE.
