I hope I’m not about to cost you money!😉 I was planning to keep mine a bit longer but there was a bit of a process which started me looking and then I got drawn in! All will be explained soon!
Where this car wins for me is buying a used 3 yr old one they go for £25k now with around 35,000 miles for the S. that’s a really good option if buying used.
Just brought a iPace 2019 highly specked out black pack cream leather glass roof only done 31000 metallic red in with the deal is a home charger that costs over 1000 one thousand back from jaguar all for only 21 thousand
Intrigued to hear which new EV you go for...thanks for the insights . My First Edition HSE also on 22s but in summer I can get 230-240 miles if really needed. I still get 200+ in winter. As you say, rarely an issue and the driving experience usually comes first :) Only minor (free under warranty) repairs I've had are charge flap actuator motor (just gone for 2nd time but an 18 plate, in for half day) and compressor valve for air suspension (1 hour repair on driveway). The car is nearly always plugged in for solar top ups so the charge flap area is usually open, increasing exposure to the elements. Servicing v cheap as you say, sub £200 at main dealers every couple of years or so. Extended warranty, Jaguar Assist recommended given cost of parts etc, though c.£870 per year not cheap. Worth it given how cheap servicing is. Tyres my biggest expense (replaced with same P Zeros) as kerbing in cities easy on the 22s and I think the weight of the vehicle means a little higher wear and tear eg. on outsides when cornering. All replaced by now. I've driven a few other EVs and nothing has come close yet... especially with 2 little ones often on board in the back. They have a nice high position in car seats and get great views with the Pano roof. Planning to keep mine for foreseeable. Cheers, Jonny
Thank you. Sounds like we’ve had similar experiences. The car has been a joy to own. Truly. Weirdly I’ve suffered a lot of punctures with mine. Not sure why but I must have had to buy about 6 tyres due to punctures.
Appreciated your videos in the early days of my I Pace. My lease went back 6 weeks ago. Replaced mine with a VW Buzz. Different type of car but still very happy.
Wow! That’s a very different vehicle! Well done! I love the Buzz, even if it’s not something I’d choose for myself. I can still appreciate the design and styling of it. It’s a great vehicle and I suspect it will end up being a bit of a “sleeper success” for VW. Pity the camper has been put on hold but hopefully they’ll resolve their issues with that soon. Which version did you get?
@@AbuDhabiDude got a first edition so the majority of the options ticked. I did worry that it would feel a big step down from the I pace but just a step side ways. Slower to drive but a significantly superior charge curve for the long journeys.
Much appreciated! I’ve had my HSE since January, 2019 and have similar sentiments. But instead of Scotland, my experiences have been centered around my home town of Del Mar, California where I live. If I have one critique of your summary review it’s that you don’t have a section that specifically relates to the overall performance and handling of the i-PACE. Perhaps you have taken that for granted as many of have. It is just simply a wonderful car in that regard. Straight up. Flat out. Full speed ahead. When I am on a freeway here, if I’d rather be ‘over there up ahead’ than where I am, it’s almost magical that I just press the accelerator and confidently steer to that spot and - voila! There I am. In an instant. I don’t know if or how my next car will replicate that. But I sure hope it does!
You know, when I was editing the video I realised that I hadn’t spoken about the driving experience which was weird as that’s it’s strongest point! I think in my head I was just thinking “well everyone knows how phenomenal it is to drive”. That’s my excuse anyway! I agree completely. The beauty of the I-Pace is that it’s not an EV which is also a Jag, it’s a Jag which is also an EV.
It would be a bit of ‘preaching to the choir’ if you dwelled on the Jaguar-like performance! In any case, you have us all wondering about your new car! Perhaps you can kick that series of with a comparison of its performance characteristics to your Jag.
Nice to hear from you again, you and Garry were a great source of help in my early ownership. Sad to hear you are moving on, as I recall this was a car you were going to keep for a very long time. I fully concur with your view of the car I have just got my second I Pace being a Sport for most of the same reasons. On the charging issue I would rather have the car I like than some of the click bait efficiency claims which are not always relevant like fast charging it can only happen when many things align. I have noted that whilst they maintain the 100kw charge rate they have altered the charging curve so it charges faster for longer and that does seem to be the case on the road.
Hi. I was originally planning to keep the car 6 years (I was thinking that the 8 year battery warranty would help with trade in value where waiting 7 or more might make it more difficult to sell). But I jumped a year early. There was a process that lead me into it and before you knew it I was buying a car! I’ll explain the process in the next video in the intro.
@@AbuDhabiDude I look forward to it. I was moving away from I Pace this year but a certain jaguar VIP event and a lot of negotiation and the full inclusive spec of the Sport brought me back I have so far no regrets.
As someone contemplating buying one. My budget limits me to probably 2019/20 model. Given the age of them , and given the fact Jaguar are to discontinue the car would you still recommend someone buying one?
Good to hear from you again Alex, I have always enjoyed watching your videos as I got my I-Pace First Edition in January 2019 so I have been on the same journey as you ( like trying to get the old chargers to work ) For me its been the most enjoyable car I have owned, and I don't know yet what would replace it. So it will be interesting to see your reviews of your 'Smart' new car. I also have the NC500 on my bucket list of places to see, you are very lucky having great scenery near you. Best Wishes and Happy EV driving Nick.
Hi Nick! Thanks for that. Yeah the old chargers are still a challenge. Spent an hour today helping someone out with the same problem. Don’t be giving people clues now!🤣
Yes I enjoy the friendly chats while charging and helping new ev drivers to start the chargers. I wish some of them would do some homework but it does pass the time while your charging. Sorry was talking to Garry.
Would love to know what you are replacing it with. I wanted to buy an approved used I Pace but keep reading horror stories about JLR Dealerships which is putting me off.
I have a '22 I-Pace, a full charge gives it 262 miles range. The '24 gets 292 miles, so I'm waiting for that update. Mine went from 232 to 262 on last update. Only had it 4 months, and getting around 3.5 kwh per mile. I drive mostly in Dynamic. Has rear climate control, sunshade, HUD, Meridan Stereo, Clearview Rearview mirror with live view and 360 camera. Every car is HSE now, so lots of features. Best car ever, and could never go back to gasoline. All this talk about range anxiety when it is RARELY an issue. Who runs their car down to 0 %, and charges up to a 100 % in the real world ? Most days I arrive home with 55% - 65% or more and use a home charger overnight. Range complaints are way overblown. 99% of people on a day-to-day basis will never need 200 miles, let alone 400+ range. I drive past gas stations and repair shops and smile !! No anxiety at all ! Great video, thanks !!!
T thank you so much for your vlogs. I have been with you since the start. I purchased my First Edition, also with 22” wheels, in March 2019 and I have loved driving the car. I agree with you about almost everything you say in this video including that it is the best car that I have ever owned. Having said that I am very disappointed with the lack of technology updates from JLR. Charging at 100kW is now not competitive and like you I will be replacing my IPace next year before the warranty expires with another brand of vehicle. I haven’t yet decided what that will be and I guess that I’m still hopeful that JLR will announce something new given that they committed to be an all EV manufacturer by 2025. I would love to buy another Jag but sadly I don’t think that is going to happen. This must be a concern for JLR given that the IPace was world car of the year in 2019. I discovered recently that JLR have only sold around 8000 IPaces in North America (around 6000 in the US) which is tragic. I hope that they can get their act together soon because Jaguar has been an iconic brand for many years. I look forward to hearing about your new vehicle and you may well influence my next purchase as I have great respect for your comments.
Hi and thank you so much for those kind words! Yeah the lack of updates is a little disappointing to be honest, although I’d be unlikely to buy another I-Pace just because I like to have something different. I’ve never bought the same car twice! But for Jaguar’s sake it would have been nice to see some updates but also one or two more EVs added to the stable. Nothing in the last 5 years is not exactly stellar! I wouldn’t hold out too much hope if you’re looking to change next year. I know Jaguar have a few upcoming vehicle announcements but I think the first one into production will be in 2025 (and I wouldn’t be surprised if that slipped a bit towards very late 25 or early 26 even). If you’re in the market for next year I think you’re looking at another I-Pace or a different brand. With respect to Jaguar’s I-Pace sales in NA, it’s never been a strong market for the brand for some reason, so I think they’re probably happy with 8,000 total! It’s certainly sold much better in Europe and is becoming a very popular car in the UK. I’m the last week my next door neighbour and a work colleague have both bought new I-Paces. So probably a good time to sell!🤣 My new car has been delayed a little but I am now expecting it in 2-4 weeks time (mid September). Fingers crossed it wont be further delayed but I know the car has definitely been built so it’s just shipping and customs clearance now.
Fascinating story, I only subscribed to your channel recently because I recognised your name from the i-Pace forums UK 👍 Just over a month ago I bought a Jaguar approved i-Pace MY21, identical to yours but I have the black seats and Pivi Pro. I love the HUD, useful information right in my view. If I get less than 3 miles/kWh then I am disappointed! Loving it so far. I'm very curious to find out what you have decided to replace yours with. 🤔
Just thought, I'm probably getting slightly better economy because I have the 20" wheels! How many miles have you done in your nearly 5 years ownership? 🤔
Thanks. Yes I think your 20” wheels are probably making the difference in efficiency. Also maybe Scotland’s terrain could be a factor. Agree about the HUD. Very useful.
Thank you! The answer is really “it depends”. There are some great prices out there on used I-Paces at the moment, with plenty of battery and drivetrain warranty still to run. Buying approved used from Jag gives a peace of mind warranty on the rest of the vehicle. They’ve also been doing deals lately (free charger and £1000 finance contribution) at certain dealers. You’ll also take less of a hit on depreciation compared to a new car. But some people just want to buy new. I really believe the I-Pace is a great car and mine has been really reliable. But it’s the kind of car where any faults will likely be expensive. A new car has an upfront cost and greater depreciation, but the peace of mind of a long warranty. I’m buying new but second hand actually makes a lot more logical sense really!
Can’t go wrong either way. I got lucky and found a used, low mileage, top spec 2019 IPace and bought it. Good choice given the price difference. Newer iPaces have a better infotainment system (mine is kinda slow) and of course have a warranty that will last longer (on the calendar). Just left a long review on Doug Demuro’s IPace UA-cam review. Check it out.
My I Pace is 5 years 6 month's old with only 38,000 miles. It has been very reliable as all the first Austrian made one's were up until sometime in 2020 when production moved due to ((Slovenia?) due to cost. My fully charged range is 269, slightly more now than the average of when new. I love it but have never kept a new car longer than 4 years and so may reluctantly sell at a whooping loss for no reason. Bonkers I know.
Stumbled upon your channel as eyeing up used iPace. Didn’t realise they were in my price range but I’m scared of the scare stories. No car is totally reliable of course but iPace issues and JLR customer service ratings are muddying the waters. My alternative would be the Ioniq 5. Someone help me decide!
I took the plunge and bought a MY21 I-Pace EV 320 a couple of weeks ago. Was looking at a few First Edition models because they became very cheap here (Netherlands), but this one came up for sale at only a little price bump. It still has 2 years of manufacturer's warranty, so I am not too concerned. The car is truly amazing to drive and even at less power and torque than the 400 version it still accelerates fast enough for me. Also from MY21 (i guess) the new Pivi pro infotainment system is installed, which is a welcome update over the older version. This model also has an 11kw onboard charger instead of the 7kw of the older versions, which is a great benefit for us here in the Netherlands
@@beefmcbutchface6497 Thanks for the reply. Didn’t know it was available as a 320. Not available in UK. Yes will be looking at MY21 car for the pivi pro. Hope it works out for you. Enjoy.
I own an ioniq, I think that a HSE is about $60k au more, it's just a bloody Hyundai. I always buy new and I really wish that I'd of gone for a secondhand ipace. My Dad drove Jags in the 60/70s and even as a small child I knew that I was in a special car. When Jaguar get it right, they really make it special. Next time, 2nd hand or not I'll definitely be buying one.
It really is Jag at their best. I’d argue that it’s one of the most important cars Jag has ever produced. A second hand one is a real bargain at the moment. However, just be aware (as with most high end vehicles) repairs can get expensive quickly. Mine has been really reliable, but as they age, any car needs more attention. Just bear it in mind.
I am considering buying my first EV, and I always loved this car, even just from reviews , even without test-driving it. Do you think that would make a good first buy as a second-hand car, at 30K-40K milage? Many thanks, Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you all.
Haha you’ll just have to wait for the video! I’m honestly sad to see my Jag go but after 5 years, the time has come. I’ll miss it but looking forward to the new one too.

Just sold mine after 5 years did 70,000 miles lost a fortune. it sold for £18,000 :( I got a Model Y tesla, its not as fast or as nice to drive. It is great to arrive in Fortwilliam and charge at 260Kw for a short while and get 100 miles of range in 7 minuets. Looking forward to hearing what you get next.
Yes resale values have taken a hit lately but I think that’s the case pretty much across the board to be honest. That’s partly why I’m selling now, while there’s still some decent value left in it. Always been the case that most high end cars lose value faster, but it still hurts when the time comes!
My tcu is also faulty... however JLR wiould not repalce/repair; still have warranty. One of the reasons i am letting the lease go back in 6 months. Mainreason i am letting it go is because my locaal JLR is no longer a jaguar dealer and closest is now 3 hours away. magna steyr will make my next EV as well 😉
Would add - there is no reason to buy a new one - actually less of a car being sold now. I-pace has received zero upgrades and only deducts - such a shame
You’ve ordered a Fisker? Weird that they wouldn’t replace your TCU. I’m not sure why that would be. There have been a few upgrades to the I-Pace but they’re all relatively minor to be honest. Certainly nothing to get too excited about, as I said in the video. I’m unconvinced about Pivi Pro in all honesty although the permanent soft buttons while CarPlay is active are nice. Loss of your local dealer would be a big issue for sure though.
@@AbuDhabiDude I am somewhere around 52k in line so should put me Qtr 1or 2 of '24, fingers crossed. Have been getting emails and instructions from Fisker about my ocean ultra. The charge rates and extra range are of interest to me as I use for work travel. Only thing in yrs that has interested my besides the taycan Turismo - but their range and room remind me too much of my Audi TT and smart EQ. JLR was a real hoop fest for my TCU issue. Spent weeks with IT and OTA updates. Sending screen shots, etc over weeks that lasted a couple of months. WAs even given a new SIM card. After all of the effort they said bring it in to my local dealer, given a loaner for about 5 weeks and got it bak "fixed" - no connectivity after the first day - 😆 when notified JLR/UK offices said nothing could be done and apologized, horrible solution from a legacy auto group... also. Not even a refund for cellular data plan I am unable to use. While in for Serv. Is when my dealer said no longer will be a JAGUAR DEALER - sign is already gone. I use the lower screen more than any other so that missing on new ones is a let down - not sure why JLR chimps so much here unless pivipro is unable to handle, nothing impressive about that. Have enjoyed your channel and honest vlogs, Cheers
The lower screen is an option now. It is still available on higher trim levels and as an option on the base model, but they removed the option to show media on it, which is my main use case for it. Sounds like you had pretty awful service in relation to that data fault. I wouldn’t have been happy with that either. Sorry to hear it.

Good to see your video, with all your comments mirroring my feeling. My ipace is now 4yrs 1mth old and i plan to keep it for another 4 years. Maybe I'll change my mine when i see your new choice.
My guess is the new car will be a Lotus Eletre
I hope I’m not about to cost you money!😉
I was planning to keep mine a bit longer but there was a bit of a process which started me looking and then I got drawn in! All will be explained soon!
Where this car wins for me is buying a used 3 yr old one they go for £25k now with around 35,000 miles for the S. that’s a really good option if buying used.
Same here I just bought one here in the USA
Are you concerned about the battery overheating or fires? I’m looking now but not real sure yet.

Great to have you back really looking forward to the new vehicle
You and me both!🤣
Amazing video, I was looking to buy my next car and this was one of my shortlisted, after listening to you I will probably go for it, thank you!
Intrigued to hear which new EV you go for...thanks for the insights . My First Edition HSE also on 22s but in summer I can get 230-240 miles if really needed. I still get 200+ in winter. As you say, rarely an issue and the driving experience usually comes first :)
Only minor (free under warranty) repairs I've had are charge flap actuator motor (just gone for 2nd time but an 18 plate, in for half day) and compressor valve for air suspension (1 hour repair on driveway).
Thanks mate. Great info all round.
Very nice. I have yet to see one in person but looking forward to seeing them around. Good choice!
Good idea. I can redeem myself that way!😉
Nice to hear from you again, you and Garry were a great source of help in my early ownership.
I-Pace is still a great car, no doubt at all. Congrats!
good to see you doing well
Thank you.
Well watch this space. All may not be what it appears!😉
my first car to have an HUD was a Cadillac STS in 2005, then a BMW serie 5 and now a 2011 Lexus, like you a car without a HUD is a showstopper !
Yes it’s something you very quickly get used to. I could live without it of course, I just don’t want to!
How long does it take to go from 20 to 80 percent charge on fast charger?
What did you buy next???
So probably a good time to sell!🤣
My new car has been delayed a little but I am now expecting it in 2-4 weeks time (mid September). Fingers crossed it wont be further delayed but I know the car has definitely been built so it’s just shipping and customs clearance now.
My TCU had to be replaced as well - luckily within the last days of the warranty
Lucky timing!
Thanks ADD- as an 4 yr iPace owner I found your channel really useful. When will we get the big reveal on your new car.
Fascinating story, I only subscribed to your channel recently because I recognised your name from the i-Pace forums UK 👍
Just over a month ago I bought a Jaguar approved i-Pace MY21, identical to yours but I have the black seats and Pivi Pro.
Great videos over the years.
The second hand market for ipace have some great deals. Would you advise a used ipace or buy a new ev??
Thank you!
The answer is really “it depends”. There are some great prices out there on used I-Paces at the moment, with plenty of battery and drivetrain warranty still to run. Buying approved used from
Jag gives a peace of mind warranty on the rest of the vehicle.
@@AbuDhabiDude I’ll take a guess your new car will be either a BMW or Mercedes? 👍👍
Interesting guesses. I can see why you would think that. But you’ll have to wait and see! Car has been delayed so a few more weeks to wait…
$30-35k in the US for used I-Paces now. so tempting!
Soon be $20-25
My I Pace is 5 years 6 month's old with only 38,000 miles.
Enjoy.
I’m interested to know which car you got to replace your ipace and how you liked it
Any news on your new car 😄?
Any news on the I-Pace replacement?
Yes I’d love to know as well!
We all want to know what came next?
What vehicle did you purchase after the I-Pace?
I get 260 miles with mine on 18" and the ride is noticeably smoother. My I Pace does not have the glass roof and head room is fine.
Tell us the new car? I still have my first edition. Sad to see you leave.
Haha you’ll just have to wait for the video! I’m honestly sad to see my Jag go but after 5 years, the time has come. I’ll miss it but looking forward to the new one too.

I'm Scottish with my eye om an iPace; so what's the issue with the Scottish charging network?
Just sold mine after 5 years did 70,000 miles lost a fortune. it sold for £18,000 :( I got a Model Y tesla, its not as fast or as nice to drive. It is great to arrive in Fortwilliam and charge at 260Kw for a short while and get 100 miles of range in 7 minuets. Looking forward to hearing what you get next.
Yes resale values have taken a hit lately but I think that’s the case pretty much across the board to be honest. That’s partly why I’m selling now, while there’s still some decent value left in it. Always been the case that most high end cars lose value faster, but it still hurts when the time comes!
have you continued to use JLR dealers for service and repairs?
Yes. Everything has been done by my Jaguar dealer. Servicing is so cheap it’s not worth going elsewhere anyway to be honest.
