@@porsimo You’re welcome. You can see in my videos that I tried to do something similar while trying to be subtle. But this looks awesome so I’m going to have to try my own version of this.
@@rickywestley6820 Thanks, and go ahead! Yeah, I've seen many builders make those great looking walkways around towers etc., but I've never quite got a hold of the idea how to do them. This is pretty much the first time I've got close to what I've been aiming for.
Thank you! No, it's one of those enb's which are supposed to add realism, lol. Can't remember the name, though. I've dropped it since, as it was causing annoying lighting issues, especially in building mode.
The wrap-around the overpass support is a really nice touch. I also really like the barracks! I can't ever seem to find a good way to use the quonset hut metal walls but it fits the barracks very well!👍 Question: I seen the curved door on the armor vendor's trailer, do you happen to know what mod adds those in, or if they're part of a mod at all? I've been looking online for a while now but always lead up to nothing.
Thank you! I usually have the same problem with those walls, but this time I found them some use. 🙂 What comes to the door, I can't remember for sure because I have quite a lot of building mods. But, I think it might be from G2M or cVc - Dead wasteland. Also, it only snaps to the RV that's included in the mod.
@@porsimo I've just thought of using the walls as garage or workshop of sorts or maybe a radio control room. That makes, I keep forgetting I haven't used either of those mods just yet, but that's what happens when I don't play this game for a while!😅 Thanks for the tip!
I feel you take inspiration from Fiddleflap? Love the way you've designed these settlements! Also, I'm curious what mod adds the settlement signs? Like the signs that say "Welcome to Greygarden" and such.
No, I'm not familiar with that name so probably not. I generally don't take inspiration from others - at least consciously -, but I'm trying to approach the builds from the settlers' perspective: how the settlement has started, how it has grown etc. I haven't quite succeeded with most of my builds, but I'm trying to evolve 🙂And thank you! I'm not sure about the mod (I usually have to jump from a menu to menu to find what I'm looking for, so afterwards I can't remember which item was in which mod/menu), but I think the sign is from Gruffydd's Signs and Posters (seems to be on AFK mods now).
0:09 the settlement is awesome, but right here at the start is a good picture of what Bethesda gets wrong. The train rail is way too steep of a grade for a train. There's that, and the interstate system which we see part of is entirely built on these big columns. I'm sure that's because the devs don't want it to interfere with other POVs around the landscape but it's an unnecessary amount of engineering and work to put into a highway. Right up the road from here you got the Corvega factory, and wth is all that crap built on the roof of it? A bunch of metal walkways that have no purpose in the manufacturing of cars, it's clearly made to house targets for the player to shoot. Just a few things that bug me about Bethesdas world building choices.
But, it's atomic power! But, yeah, I agree. Bethesda's world building is basically mix of over-engineering and ridiculous simplifications. And thank you!
@@porsimo You're more than welcome. After watching the entire video I'm actually floored by your design skills. Perfect use of space and not too much to create framerate issues, masterful job in balancing. You deserve big time credit here.
Very nicely done! Questions - is that a mod you got those reddish & blue rugs you used quite a bit from? And in the bus on the bridge there was a hanging plant, what mod was that? Great inspiration here!
Thank you! They are in-game rugs, but probably unlocked by either Workshop rearranged or USO or both. That hanging plant is from Woody's wasteland pack (/workshop?). A smallish mod, but I can't praise it enough! It contains really useful pieces I use quite extensively.
@@porsimo Ok thanks! I have USO but I’m on PS5 so I can’t always get all the cool shit. I’m not sure about the plant mod, I’ll have to look on Bethesda.
@@Nicole-no9ig Unfortunately I doubt that the Woody's pack would be available for PS5 as it contains mostly custom objects. Workshop rearranged, on the other hand, only unlocks stuff already in the game.
@@porsimo I swear I just need to start a new play through on my Xbox or PC instead so I can have fun with more mods. I feel like I’m missing out - especially on some of the huge world & quest mods! Thanks again!
Are you using mods? Or this is vanilla game? I'm not sure how to build this well. I definitely don't have enough materials. I don't think rail cars are part of the regular game? It's a really cool settlement though. I wish mine looked that good.
Thank you! I've built this settlement six or seven times and this is the first time I've managed to get something like this done. And it required also a change in the mindset of how I build my settlements. Not so long ago my settlements looked very different, but with a little pre-planning and checking builds of others for inspiration and ideas, I finally started to get the results I wanted. And yes, I use mods. Most of the items used here and in my other settlements are in-game, just unlocked by mods, although there are some custom objects here and there. My two most important mods are Workshop rearranged (unlocks objects) and Place everywhere (similar available for consoles too) for allowing object placement anywhere.
@@porsimo It looks really great. I find the vanilla game to be extremely difficult to build things. On uneven ground it's terribly difficult. There is a lot of that in FO4. It's difficult to click stuff together. You have to almost glitch it together. Be lucky and hope it will snap together. Also it's very limited on items you can place. They could use more things like rail cars and some items you have. I always like regular play through all the way. Which I'm working on now. But maybe eventually I will add some mods like what you suggested. Building natural is just too difficult and limiting in this game IMO. You can unleash so much more with a few mods. Maybe at the end of the game. You can always play later for that. To build up your base.
@@briancolombo7597 Yeah, I can't understand why the vanilla game offers so limited set of building objects. Of the mods I use at least 4 include a wide variety of unlocked objects and even those combined are not all of the pieces that the game has. I didn't use any mods in my first playthrough, but after that they have been a must. In addition of those two mods I mentioned, I use also G2M, USO, cVc and Woody's Wasteland Stuff quite extensively. cVc has a lot of custom items but also unlocks, but Woody's is mostly custom stuff. All these 6 mods work well together, but both Workshop rearranged and USO change the build menu which causes a bit of jumping around - which is a bit annoying. I love building on uneven ground. It makes building more challenging, but also makes the result much more interesting looking. My absolute favorite build is Lakside Pumpstation (ua-cam.com/video/vF2PZwPDJ7Y/v-deo.html) which part of a mod that adds 10 new settlements in the North part of the map.
@@porsimo That's spectacular. I bet it took a long time to build that. I'm getting a little better at uneven ground. It just takes practice. After my play through I may try some mods. I honestly just like building my bases better than actually playing missions sometimes. Fallout 4 can become insanely addictive that way.
@@briancolombo7597 Thank you! Once I got the idea to where I want to build the residential shacks, it took surprisingly little time to finish the settlement (not that it was quickly done, but it took less time than many other builds I've done). Yeah, it takes practice, but the mods will make building more fun. And once you start using mods, there's no turning back 😉 The building aspect is what I enjoy the most in the game nowadays. I've done several play throughs and now 90% of the time I use in FO4 is building.
Amazing settlement build, very lore-friendly and well-designed, I'm just in awe of what you were able to create here.
Thank you!
Incredible design. Looks like a settlement that would come with the game. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you, and you're welcome 😉
Best Graygarden build I've seen.
