  • In an extended interview with Channel 4 News, as she launches The Climate Book, Greta Thunberg speaks about how she deals with online trolls and why she feels hopeful about the fight against climate change even as the world approaches a “precipice”.

    -------
The Swedish teenager tells Channel 4 News that at just 19 she “already feels like a broken record” after railing against governments’ inaction for years, but she says she is inspired by the environmental community she’s become a part of.

She is experienced enough by now to know that interviews can be very challenging and/or patronizing. The important thing is that her message will still be seen and heard. You won't get anywhere if you only do the easy things. She did a really good job at not playing along with the interviewer's narrative.

Greta Thunberg calls herself as a Swedish environmental activist but realistically she is a charlatan or international environmental scammer. Greta Thunberg is milking only the US and European countries but all the rest of the world stayed polluted, dirty and nasty, and Greta Thunberg do not even mention about it as she knows she cannot practicing quackery there, and she will not obtain any money from Russia, or China, or African and Latin America countries, and other advantages through pretense or deception.

The British have their rivers and coastal areas severely polluted by raw sewage since February and the new Tory legislation, it means there will be no fines for the company that destroyed that Cornwall paradise beach yesterday. No EU strict environmental laws needs to be followed by the UK anymore so the private (and foreign) sewage companies in England and Wales (the only two nations in the world with privately owned sewage systems) don't . To not get the expensive sewage cleaning chemicals from Portugal since you raised your trade barrier towards the EU is cheaper, just releasing the raw sewage in your rivers and on your coasts actually means more profit for their shareholders abroad.
The fish caught in your polluted rivers and along your coasts can not be exported due to inferior quality, no one in the EU or elsewhere would eat fish from that toxic soup of yours'. It will most likely show up on British tables and in your fish and chips shops though for the Brits to revoir. We have an old saying "what you release in nature will at some point end up on your table" - you will experience that sooner than you think.
Greta does'nt need more "fame and opportunities" as you so cynically call it, she is already world famous. Rishi and Boris - what about that drama eh ... you and the King, like peas in a Pod! He was Barmy about the environment too!" Jezus wept. This journalist was just not listening to Thunberg, while asking her if it was frustrating to not be listened to!
On to cost of living - green energy is cheaper, but only if it's allowed to scale, something the fossil fuel industry holds back. This was an infuriating interviewer, surely there was someone more capable of holding a conversation who could have done this? 30 minutes is a lot of time to completely fail to have an actual discussion. Who wrote that 'gotcha' sheet she was reading from? Cause there was no deviation from the script - Thunberg handled this car crash of an interview well, including questions like "Should we be holding up ambulances" for fudges sake!
How can a 19 year old be more mature, capable and articulate (in her non native language no less) at understanding this issue than a journalist of over 2 decades? Jackie had been at the BBC longer than Greta has been alive, and here she is trivializing the issue of our literal survival into a gossip rag about people and personalities, the who's who of climate conference attendance like it was the oscars, or even important, despite being handed real opportunities to dig into WHY the fossil fuel lobby is at climate talks.
The media really is the problem. This is a textbook example of the them failing their job, and doing the Oil and Gas industries work for them: Distract and Delay.

I dont like windmills that dont produce enough power when the wind stops, I dont like electric cars that are more polluting to scrap, and more expensive to own. If everyone had one the cost of charging your car would be as much as petrol. But the nutters of our world want us to go and live in caves no matter the consequences. Better idea go demonstrate in China about all the coal fired power stations they are building and see how far you get 🤔. Its all mass madness from the eco lunatics.

Why aren’t Greta and others protesting about geoengineering and weather modification. Why isn’t she and others protesting against the war and the potential of nuclear warfare and the existential to humanity by nuclear fallout
    These are more urgent needs
It’s some world leaders and some scientists that are the real issue
Transition into a more sustainable energy source needs to be less reactive and more practical.
Protest against warfare and practical sustainability is a better use of these peoples resources.

Just because people question the rhetoric does not make them a " Climate change denier ".
We have had 40 yrs of Global modelling by the " experts " and we have had 40 yrs of overestimating the effects, not by just some but every model has been incorrect.
Perhaps that is the reason people are starting to mistrust the information.
Also the facts are that globally only 3% of the worlds energy is renewables and that has to have 24/7 back up because of its unreliability.
No amount of pledges are going to stop people using fossil fuels until there is a viable cost effective replacement.
It can, and in my view will come as a gradual change through technology improvements etc.
The presenter asked the question are there billions of activists out there ? or are there billions of selfish people.
What there are out there are literally billions of people being pulled out of poverty exactly through the use of fossil fueled machinery, irrigation and machine powered agriculture, hospital incubators, etc etc
Do we deny those people the chance to have what we have ?

@@jwsuicides8095 Exactly, I was explaining this to my youngest son ( 19yrs old ) that we see the constant demonising of fossil fuels without any balance that indicates the massive improvements to lives, and life expectancy since the fossil fueled Industrial revolution.
He looked at me in amazement when I told him that 300 yrs ago the average person here in England had a brutally hard life trying to just feed, clothe himself, keep warm, that ended with a average lifespan of around 38 yrs of age.
I also told him of when I was in Africa 10 yrs ago and people were sitting barefoot in a small quarry making bricks by hand !!
Have we the moral right to prevent these people from having what we have ?
