This was a bold raid by the Royal Navy with their legendary X-Craft subs. My hat's off to the brave a courageous British crewmen of the X-Craft.

Combined with Bluecher, Norway was a graveyard to some big warships that never saw ship to ship action

3:25 - Drachinifel fan here. When I heard “added torpedo tubes”, I can’t help but recall his many diatribes on the size of the “flat” needed as a torpedo room. But I’m guessing these were deck-mounted torpedoes? That or someone lost their yoga studio in early 1942, inside the hull of Tirpitz.

There were salvaged from the wrecks of the German destroyers sunk at Narvik in 1940. They were deck-mounted.

At this point should just admit that ships are just sitting ducks for airplanes or submarines...Bigger the battleship, bigger the disappointment.

When u estimated cost of battle in the end please make a seperate table of how many men participateed in the battles and then comparing the total loss in the battle
Eg a table must contain total men total ships planes, submarines etc
And in another columns total destroyed, total damaged
    In order to understand easily
    Thank you

    Submarine X-1
This class of submarine was later featured in the 1968 movie Submarine X-1 starring James Caan as a Canadian Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve officer who after losing his submarine and fifty crew members in a battle with a German ship during World War II, gets a second chance training crews to take part in a raid using THESE MIDGET SUBS.

The 1955 film "Above us the Waves" is a far more accurate film, as it had Donald Cameron as a "technical" advisor - so I would recommend this film over your suggestion.

Tirpitz the sole battleship? Poor Scharnhorst and Gneissenau get no respect! 😅
    (I agree tho, they're battlecruisers)

No. They were well armoured, but weakly armed, battleships. Their belt armour was actually stronger than that of the Bismarcks.

How many U-boats could they have built instead of this Reef. Thank God they were stupid.

  • @Russia-bullies

The pic at 1:22 should have “MILITARY”,instead of “ARMY”.The pic at 2:19 should have “SUBS”,instead of “U-BOATS”.FYI.”u-boat”=short form “unterseeboot”(German for “sub”).

    • @HoH
      @HoH  23 дні тому

Why should it have subs then? They're U-boats (Unterseebooten).
