Have you tried Decoy Limited Cabernet sauvignon? They used the grapes from Napa instead of Sonoma. Please try it and do a review. Thanks, Brian

I think Duckhorn is one of the best domestic vineyards for sure.
No wonder it was chosen during obamas inauguration ball (regardless of one's political stance, gotta give that guy a nod for choosing Duckhorn. That was a patriotic move.)
Also, if you get a chance, pls do a Napa tour and share with us!

Duckhorn is certainly one of the best Merlots in the country.
I did do videos on my Napa trips. Look for “Too five Napa wineries” and “Best wineries in Napa Valley”.

@@decantswithd ohhh thank u!! I will check out ur napa tour!!
Yes i think duckhorn merlot are really great for sure. We tried duckhorn sauvignon blanc out of curiosity & it was so-so. Delicious, but we were abroad so we paid premium for it & wasn't sure if it was worth the price. And compare to the Merlot, it just did not live up to our expectations.
And I am jealous of your big bottle. I had no idea they came in big sizes like champagne!

Excellent review! I have had decoy and regular Duckhorn on multiple occasions and loved them. Do you think the difference between the three palms and the regular is worth the big jump in price?

      Hi Jay.
No the price difference is not worth paying on a regular basis.
But try to get you hands on the 2014, 2016 or 2018 Three Palms at least once. It is a more complex wine.

You have to try Pahlmeyer Merlot (Atlas Peak), i would put it up against Duckhorn 3 Palms (Calistoga) every day of the week.

lovely minerality and complexity - too bad the winemaker bombs the wines with way too much new oak imo

Yes, Duckhorn is a great Merlot, but Decoy is meh. It’s not bad, but sadly it is about 1000 levels below Duckhorn. Decoy tastes like any $10 Merlot.
